The best empanadas I had ever had! Do not pass up this side of the road empanadas bar! The staff speaks Spanish only and the food is authentic! The empanadas as not skimpy and there's quite a few options available! You can also grab a drink while you are there. They serve alcohol and sodas. The homemade cream salsa is delicious with the empanadas to give it that extra kick of spice.
I ordered the:
* Carne malanga queso 5/5: second favorite meaty well seasoned and crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle! We placed a second order of this one!
* pollo malanga bacon queso: 5/5 like wow, I've never had an empanada that taste like this! It was oowee gooey cheese chicken bacon , nothing I've ever had before! It was juicy and flavorful! So good we girder a second one to bring back to our hotel. Definitely our favorite and a must try!
* pollo Amarillo: 3/5 it was bad but just okay. The chicken was a little dry but the plantains were sweet and that was yummy!
All empanadas were stuffed as it should be and cost $6 each. It's a big size empanada . 1 empanada is filling for a person. It's crispy and not greasy. Everything made fresh to order. We waited for about 15 minutes for our food while we enjoyed our drinks. There's parking infront and the back of the establishment. They take cards and cash. This place was packed with locals but there were bar seats and counters. On the side are tables and chairs. Super authentic place. It's up a mountain side so drive carefully and slowly up/down the narrow road.
Do I recommend this place? Absolutely! The best empanadas I've ever had in my life! Beats the tourist places in San Juan by a margin! read more
