My husband ordered Guadalajara Especial and it was fantastic as well. More of a Tex Mex dish, but still delicious. The tortillas were nice and fresh as well. Our waiter was great and refilled our chips and salsa since we scarfed it down so quick. The restaurant was super clean and decorated like any other Mexican food restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Every visit here brings a new culinary reward reward…read more This time the occasion was to celebrate our granddaughter's 7th birthday. Plus, this was at her request. Could have taken her anywhere without leaving Apple Valley but she was insistent. After this visit, as always, we don't mind the drive! The reason for a young girl's insistence? The luscious house made desserts! We chose a number of specials. Mine was a shaved sirloin sandwich which was tender juicy and with a deep beef flavor reminiscent of grass fed beef. The beef, like many dishes here is locally sourced. The beef, as with many of the meat dishes here, was from Welcome Meats, in a neighboring town. No picture of my dish exists, as it didn't stick around long enough... The first photo is of a brunch favorite, the eggs Benedict, with made to order hollandaise sauce, and ham steak. The second photo is of a featured salad with local strawberries, cucumber, beets, golden tomato, gruyere cheese, and toasted hazelnut pieces, covered with a deftly poured drizzle of balsamic vinegar. The third photo says it all about this establishment. It's a small restaurant, but offers beer (including craft beers) a nice, and affordable wine selection that includes bubbly and sake. We can't wait for our next excursion here...you too?? Pictures

Lots of variety and the chili was very good. (The salad bar came with 2 soup options). The waitress was very nice and checked on us several times. It's located in "downtown" Dunnell, and throws off a clean and comfortable community vibe. Cash Only. We were almost the only ones here at the time, and were greeted and served by a very personable employee, who took our food and drink orders in good time. It was disappointing that our order took a long time to come from the Kitchen, which might have been delivered sooner if it wasn't for all the friendly community chatter in the room. It was delivered hot and with no heat lamps used as far as I could tell. The food? Just OK and not all that flavorful, except for the tots and the fries. Gayle had a patty melt, while I went for a plain cheeseburger. We pretty much cleaned our plates, although we both agreed that our burgers weren't all that flavorful. I'll give Still another chance the next time we're in town, as there's a lot more to this menu than a single burger order. The atmosphere here appeals to me and is the kind of place my Parent's would have enjoyed. There's also an ATM here and usually a blank check in my pocket in case I come in a little cash short.

This place is a godsend in a flavor desert…read more My partner and I have visited China House twice and have been beyond impressed with every dish we've had. On our first visit, I tried the Hunan Triple Delight, which features a trifecta of beef, chicken, and shrimp with delightfully crunchy and flavorful vegetables in a spicy but savory brown sauce. My partner got the General Tso's Chicken which I was kinda jealous of on account of it being the best General Tso's I've ever tasted. The chicken was tender and delicately fried, but with enough crunch to hold up to the sauce which had just the right amount of heat and zest. Today on our visit we had the Szechuan Beef and Pineapple Chicken, both with fried rice. I cannot describe to you how delicious it is. The decor reminds me a lot of old Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants in my California hometown which is oddly comforting. It really is unbelievable how much impressive food exists within such an unassuming-looking restaurant! Bottom line is, China House Cafe presents their dishes without frills, and they don't need it. The flavor speaks volumes for itself! If you're in the area--or even if you're an hour away--this place is absolutely worth a visit. :)
