This is an amazing farm to table small town restaurant reborn in 2015 by chef and owner Seth Lintelman and his wife Elizabeth. If you are traveling I-90 for breakfast or lunch do yourself a favor and stop by. This food is the best you will ever have. Small town original cafe turned regional place to eat. Farm fresh locally sourced ingredients prepared as only chef Seth can. Nothing will disappoint.

This place is so delicious. The chef uses farm fresh ingredients which shine in every dish. The lunch special changes daily. I've never had anything I didn't like. Eat here and you won't be disappointed!!! Support local!

I love this place. The service is legitimately the best; everyone is so nice and helpful. And the food is actually great. It's pretty creative but not weird, and some of the meals I've had there (I've been there a bunch) have been very memorable. I'll keep coming back each time I'm in town, guaranteed. I strongly recommend Cup N' Saucer to anyone looking for a tasty meal.

Last Friday was a date night for me and Gayle, as we opted to try for kick ass meal out here at the Hi-Lo Club just outside Lakefield. The restaurant and bar was about a 30 minute drive from the family cabin on the East Shore of Spirit Lake (Orleans) and with a lot less traffic that any fine dining choice almost as far on West Lake Okoboji. Our only regret was that we opted not to go downstairs to the Speakeasy after dinner, where live music was in full swing. The only irritation (if that) was a fairly loud bride and friends dinner a couple tables over. But I quibble as Gayle and I thoroughly enjoyed our romantic evening together within our cozy booth. Here's what we ordered: - Bombay Sapphire Martini (Up/Olives) and then a Malbec (Gayle). - Mocktail (Cranberry Pom Spritz) and then a Sauvignon Blanc (Eric) - Filet Beef Tenderloin with Asparagus and Caesar Salad (Gayle) - Canadian Walleye with Caesar Salad and Wild Rice Pilaf. - Coffee (Eric) and a shared piece of Champagne Cake (See Picture). Our Caesar Salads and Gayle's steak were outstanding. My Walley was excellent, but I wanted more of what Gayle was enjoying. The cake was of course icing on our evening. Total tab? About $160 with tax and tip. Special kudos to our great (and very busy) waitress and the Prohibition-era atmosphere. We only visit the Iowa Great Lakes once in the Summer, so look for us to be back here next year.

My family has been coming here for years and we all order the same thing every time we come, and it's always phenomenal! The beef is SOOO tender, it literally melts in your mouth. And don't get me started on the wild rice. It's cooked to perfection and it's so buttery and flavorful. Atmosphere: Bergen Bar & Grill is a smaller restaurant that's first come first serve -- no reservations. You put your name and phone number on a notebook and they call you when your table is ready. Depending on the time you arrive, it can be a longer wait. However, they have a lovely patio where you can wait for your table OR you can hang out in your car. They do serve drinks on the patio which is a nice touch! One other thing to note, they are cash/check only. No credit cards so plan accordingly. Overall, I highly highly recommend Bergen Bar & Grill! You won't be disappointed.

What we discovered was that they have limited weekend Lunch hours (11:30 - 1:30) and a more conventional burgers and sandwiches menu. It also wasn't nearly as crowded as the evening sittings can be. I'll still rate Bergen at 5 because it is a great steak dinner choice. However, their more conventional Lunch might not be worth the journey out here for some folks. We did have a nice time out here. Service was neighborhood friendly and efficient, while Gayle's steak sandwich and my German Patty Melt were very tasty. We both chose Onion Rings as our side, which always taste great going down, but sometimes linger afterwards. Their bar choices continue to improve, while Bergen remains Cash or Check only.
