It was my very first time dining here. When you walk up to the front entrance, you're greeted by a set of concrete steps, which are reminiscent of an old-timey church. (If you're handicapped, there's an entrance around the corner that leads through their kitchen.) Although this joint specializes in catfish, I grew up fishing and eating walleye, northern pike, bass, etc. I never developed any taste for a fish that had a muddy flavor. So, I ended up ordering the chopped beef steak (3/4ths pound) with extra mushrooms, extra onions, and red peppers. For my sides, I went with grilled vegetables and coleslaw. It also came with a perfectly browned piece of toast. Because virtually everyone else ordered catfish or some variation, the servers brought out hush puppies, brown beans, and pickled green tomatoes for everyone (including me). On this hot and humid day, I enjoyed and appreciated multiple cups of refreshing, unsweetened iced tea. My favorite foods included the deliciously creamy coleslaw, the pleasantly and unexpectedly tasty and tangy pickled green tomatoes, and the crunchy hush puppies. Be sure to request a side or two of their tangy tartar sauce for dipping the hush puppies into. I don't know which kitchen worker decided to spill the salt shaker onto my grilled vegetables! There was zero finesse whatsoever with how they chose to season something that needed none at all. The two female servers were efficient and very patient with our large and talkative group. My bill for my meal and drink was less than $20.00! I was very pleased with how affordable this restaurant was. I would probably return again, if in the area, now that I'm familiar with how the food is prepared here. Three and a half stars, rounded down to three, mainly due to their overuse of sodium in some of their offerings.

Ambiance is mixed--kind of cavernous in one room; plastic tablecloths and photographs stapled to the wall are incongruous with the price point of the food but I don't personally care. I was comfortable there. They have an adults only dining area which seems neat; and string lights

He never skipped a beat, including checking back with us shortly after our food arrived to see if we needed anything else. Everyone else seemed happy and content with their choices. I've been to Colton's 3 times and this trip wasn't better or worse than my previous 2 visits. Another Well Run Location!…read more I was in the Batesville area for business and decided to try out Colton's location in town. I have eaten at many Coltons all over the USA and wanted to see if this location was just as good or better than other Colton's locations. When I arrived it was at the beginning of dinner service and already starting to fill up with diners. The hostess asked me if I wanted the bar or dining room and I chose the dining room. When I was seated the server in my section came to my table within a few minutes. Once she went over some of the items that Colton's is known for, she took my drink order and gave me some time to choose my meal. I ordered the Filet with a side of grilled shrimp and green beans. When my server dropped off my beer, she also came with a basket of fresh hot rolls, which were right out of the oven and the butter melted on the buns making it a great snack while I waited for my food. I had asked the server to bring out my shrimp first, and I was in no rush for my main course. The shrimp came out and they were plump and juicy, still hot and served with a side of melted butter with a lemon wedge and on a bed of rice. The shrimp were a great starter and they were seasoned just right and not too salty. My steak came out cooked just a little over medium-rare, so not quite how I wanted it but I did not complain, as it was a very good cut of beef, and tasted very good. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a hit as they were very good. The green beans weren't much to write home about, but they were edible. Overall a good inexpensive meal, with great service, and the server took her time showing me how to pay on the tablet at the table. If I'm in Batesville again, I will most definitely come back
