A wonderful local surf shop located on king street in a great area. The store has all kinds of high end brands like kulani kinis, bond eye, L space and more. They have a wide range of apparel from beachwear to crew necks, hoodies, cover-ups, bracelets, jewelry, clothing and more. Their men's section is excellent as well. Stopped in The Freshfields location. Great suit selection, however the sales clerk was wearing a thong bikini, which was completely inappropriate and unacceptable. Is this a regular occurrence at this store? There were two families with young children and parents who appeared to be a little shocked and very uncomfortable, and left without buying. What is the point in that? This is a family vacation environment. Get a clue store owner/manager. Not smart. read more

My go-to spot for bikinis. They always have a HUGE selection of the most current, fashionable suits. They also have a great selection of sunglasses and Nixon watches (I have a few- they are the best watches!) Staff is super friendly and have always been helpful with getting you what you need. I had been eyeing this watch for a while, and when I finally went to to buy it, it was sold out. The guy working (he might be the owner/manager because he's there all the time) put in a special order and I had my watch in less than a week. Also worth noting- they put on an awesome swimsuit fashion show every year to kick off the summer, which is always a great time. Size exclusive and hateful company. To deal with criminals professionally, they slam them on their Instagram instead of turning them in. Only cater to one demographic - white skinny girls. I've shopped here for years but was unaware of how exclusive it was size wise. Not everyone is a size 4. Don't spend your money at this "small business" that is clearly rolling in cash because of how much they undercut the people producing their clothes. They also slander people protesting their size exclusiveness on their Instagram by calling them "morons" and "losers". I highly recommend Billabong, Nike, or Jolyn for bikinis. read more

Las Olas is my absolute favorite bathing suit store on the planet. Their suits are extremely comfortable and super stylish. The staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. I recently followed their instagram account because I thought their bathing suits were cute and was intending to buy one! Normally they post photos of happy customers wearing their swimwear. Today, I saw a post displaying the faces of two female minors, with one of their names included in the description. Las Olas claimed they had shop lifted and were looking for more information on who the second female was with the intention of filing a police report. @lasolaschs is a public account with nearly 25,000 followers. Despite numerous complaints from people in the comments, they refused to take the post down for hours. They deleted comments that disagreed with their way of dealing with the situation and kept others that shamed the teenagers for stealing. I do not condone stealing nor do I have any issue with them getting the police involved. However, I thought the way they publicly shamed these girls for thousands to see was both morally wrong and completely unprofessional. There are many other ways they could get justice and deter shoplifters from going to their store, without displaying the faces and names of the offenders online. With the full name that was posted on their account, I was able to search where one of the shoplifters lived, where she goes to high school, what year she is graduating, her social media accounts, and find pictures she had posted. Now imagine thousands of people being able to easily access this information on a teenage girl. Does everyone have good intentions? Probably not. They have since taken the post down, but the damage is already done. I have heard that this is not the first time they have done this. I have no intention of shopping here or any place that handles their problems in such a public and unprofessional way. read more

This place is the real deal - an honest-to-goodness surf shop run by and honest-to-goodness surfer. You can expect to get personalized service and find what you need, because the owner goes out of his way to select the best merchandise - whether its a watch or a bikini, he knows his stuff! I have bought all of my bikinis here for the past four years (and they have held up extremely well!). All of the merchandise is high-quality and unique. Great looking store on the inside and outside. Awesome selection of bikinis and suits. However, we felt uncomfortable from the minute we walked into the shop. Perhaps we were not the typical client that shopped in the store? Family of teenagers? No greeting or "Can I help you". My son found a suit but was wondering if the suit ran small by this particular maker. My fit husband (who threw javelin and played football in his day) found several suits and shirts he liked but realized that the size XL or 38 waist was not a size that appeared to be offered at this store. My teen daughters (14,16- size 2 and 4) loved several bikinis so they moved a penny board onto the ground to get a closer look. They were immediately yelled at screaming "Don't stand on that board!" by a male salesman or owner in a Nixon hat. Needless to say we put our items back and left the store rather quickly. We are a family of 6 and tourists in Charleston that return 2 times a year mostly to shop and vacation. It is a shame that the salesman or owner didn't think we mattered or we were worthy of any communication or assistance as we would have dropped $500+ today if you gave us a greeting or asked us if you could help us. read more
