We knew that arriving in Spain, we had to have churros because it's the real deal in Spain! I found that in Madrid, they don't tend to cover the churros in sugar or cinnamon, that was more of a Barcelona thing to do. In Madrid, they were just fried and you dipped them in chocolate, which was also semi sweet and not sweet.
We stumbled upon this place while strolling around our hotel. I was pretty excited to give it a try that I over ordered a bit. I ordered a lot of churros and by the second one, we were getting full. I had no idea they were going to be so long! Wish I knew that.
The fresh squeezed orange juice was a nice way to wash it all down. The lady behind the counter could understand our broken spanish but was really sweet about it. It got pretty pricey for everything we ordered, considering they were just churros. Hey, we were on vacation so we just decided to take it all in.
Everything was really good, but I prefer the churros covered in sugar to be dipped in chocolate, like in Barcelona. It was much of a dessert to me. read more
