Ever walk into a place and have so many red flags slap you in the face that you ran away before they got a chance to give you food poisoning? That's what happened here.
We were recommended a restaurant by a local, also called Las Acacias, but a few blocks away and attached to a hotel of the same name. I mistook this place for that place, initially.
My wife and I had been seated less than 10 minutes. We placed an order for some wine and paella with our server who looks like he belongs in a rejects of Jersey shore meets Sopranos episode. Gold chains, way too much chest hair showing, eye rolls and nose wiping in a sweaty shirt unbuttoned too low. My wife is already looking at me like "Where the heck are we? Is this right? This doesn't feel right".
Our wine and unordered bread arrive at the table. The bread is rock hard and inedible and the wine was the worst I have tasted in decades, truly awful 0/10. As I am thinking, "how should we ditch politely before these people poison us with a fish stew as bad as the wine and bread they just brought us?", some worker literally starts pissing on the fiberglass roof 6 feet to our side and it starts trickling down the wall until some other worker yells at him to stop 3/4 of the way through.
I make up a story about friends waiting for us at the other Las Acacias restaurant (where I had intended to go), and how we made a mistake and need to meet them there, can they please cancel our order from 5 minutes ago?
They get very disgruntled and start yelling across the restaurant towards the kitchen to stop the paella order. They present the bill and charged us 8 Euros for the worst wine ever and 1,40 € for inedible bread we didn't ask for. We left both on the table and paid just to get out of there faster.
If I could give zero or negative stars, I would give -3 stars to this place (not -5, since they at least did not charge us for the paella). If you hate someone and want to make them suffer, suggest this place for lunch. If you appreciate your health, stay far away from this health inspector's nightmare. read more
