Las Mellizos restaurant in Thomas Heredia street ( they have different locations) was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant in it self is very pretty. It seems very popular with the locals. Reservation is a must. Waiters are pleasant and do speak English. We ordered the paella for two, fish/ sea food, and I must say it was delicious. I stopped by Los Mellizos in Malaga after craving for seafood for a few days. In terms of food, I got the Fried Fish Platter. It was A LOT of food for one person so I definitely recommend sharing with others. FIVE STARS! Incredible food, incredible service, a wonderful environment, accessible, and fair prices. What more could you ask? Our Paella was beyond measure! We enjoyed live music man who played Spanish classical guitar during our dinner. While we waited, the aromas of the "Sazon" flooded my heart with memories of the smells in my mothers kitchen, when I was a little girl. The host had a wonderful, sweet spirit and a sense of humor. I cannot say enough good things about this place! I've been craving paella for a few days now, so we decided to stop here to try the Paella de la Casa, which was only €30. We also ordered the garlic shrimp and half a dozen razor clams as appetizers. Everything was amazing! The razor clams had a deliciously smokey taste, the shrimp was cooked to perfection, and the paella was HUGE, packed full of seafood and flavorful. Good luck getting a reservation. Do it early and get there on time. Food is delicious and good wine selection. Seafood is Primo order the Langostino as it is the "star of the show" as one would say. I definitely think this place is worth a visit if in town. The seafood is super fresh and the service is warm. I was fortunate enough to try a variety of the fresh clams and oysters. I also had a 1/2 order of the razor clams! I am not a big fan of clams but really like these and can't find them in the States all too often! Recommended to us at our hotel. Wonderful service and very cosy inside. The food was delicious as well as the wine. Clearly I ate too much...the veggies were perfectly olive oiled and salted. Fried octopus, fried squid, their version of civiche, and especially the squid ink paella - all fantastic! Prices were very reasonable for quality and quantity of food, as well service, and it wasn't very touristy. Haven't fallen for a tourist trap like this since Miami years ago. First, if I'm alone doesn't mean I should be given the worst table. Second, it should be at least $$$ rather than $$. Finally, especially with prices like these, I should be getting what's on the picture, this is not McDonalds. Delicous paella in a cute outside restaurant in a quiet street near the main shopping street and port in Malaga. The 'paella mixta' was (what I believe is) fairly traditional seafood paella, perfectly cooked. I was eating on my own and they were kind enough to box up 1/2 of the 2 person serving to take home. (Paella only seems to come in 2 person servings most places I've visited in Spain). I had the mixed salad (get the small size) which was flavorful and had the right combination of ingredients (tuna, beets, corn, and tomatoes) and the grilled dorado (just delightful)! As a heads up to everyone, I would consider this restaurant one of the tourist traps in Malaga. I only ordered the shrimp in oil and garlic with a bottle of wine. The bottle cost 18 euros. Also the staff doesn't speak that much English and the menu is all in Spanish. I also didn't like how while we were eating a man with a beautiful voice came to our tables and sang and played the guitar. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed his performance but afterwards he made all of tables give him money and wouldn't go away until he got some money. Wound up just getting the calamari here because I was going to a few different restaurants that night to try dishes and I have to say that Spain doesn't do calamari very well. I tried a restaurant in Sevilla that had calamari and I definitely didn't enjoy that either. This calamari was a bit rubbery and bland so I really don't know if I would come back. I saw people getting paellas so maybe that's the dish to get, but I was really just looking to try something quick so I could be on my way. Anyways, give it a try if you want, but i would definitely not recommend you try the calamari. read more

We booked a table due to several recommendations. Expecting typical Spanish paella we were heavily disappointed. If you're looking for a mediocre tourist place, you're absolutely right. The paella is overpriced and of basic quality. They charge extra for the bread even though you don't even ask for it. Mentioning this while paying it was taken off the bill. They offer Gluten free bread, which is hard to find and nice offer. The mixed paella was good and made with turmeric instead of saffron.
