My friend and I are staying on the Carreteria for a couple of days, and after exploring the city…read morefor an entire day, we didn't want to venture out too far for dinner. Lo and behold - La Vida De La Gente across the road. We went there at 20:00 and were told that while we could have cocktails, food was only available from 20:30 onward - Spanish tradition. We had a Pornstar Martini and a Piña Colada, and promptly got some sweet extras like watermelon etc. for free. Next thing we know, we order two more cocktails (a coconut mojito and a cosmopolitan), which were equally delicious. The tapas we ended up ordering were surreal. LVDLG focuses on Asian-inspired tapas: we had the goat cheese lollipop (2), yakitori meatballs (4), the oriental burger (1), Japanese fried rice, shrimp in teriyaki sauce (10) and a selection of meats. All of these tapas were fresh, delicious and well executed. Generous portions, piping hot. Our waiter was great, bringing around extra bread and free shots, plus explaining what everything was. The place has only been open for two months but it is truly one of the better establishments we have come across in Malaga. Very sleek, very clean, quiet and cosy. A lovely vibe in general. For less than 60€, we enjoyed four cocktails, a bottle of water, four tapas and two 'mains' - great value. They are very generous with the alcohol in cocktails, for only 6€ each. Tapas are 3-4€ each, mains 8-9. All in all, excellent value for money. The bill is brought in a cut-out book, which we found adorable. LVDLG is a gem. Next time we visit Malaga, we'll make sure to visit again, although we are sure it won't quite be as quiet anymore. These guys deserve all the custom they can get, a truly wonderful place.

Just stopped here to have a drink at the rooftop bar. We ordered Tinto de Verano's for the group…read more Fully aware these are NOT meant to be 'strong' drinks. That said, we sat at the bar so we were able to watch them make all the drinks. Each was approximately 98% lime soda, with a splash of Rioja wine. What an overpriced joke. Complete tourist trap. Take the elevator up to snap a few pics & head somewhere else. Save yourself the money!

The terrace is located on the roof of a Hotel and you can get there with a lift. There are two small areas left and right with open views on one side only and just wall of the other. The floor space is overrun by seating furniture to maximice profit leaving little space to walk around. When we arrived we luckily found a place to seat on the nice comfy white sofas located by the open side on the right area however as we were waiting for the waiter to come to order, the woman from a group of four with a baby that came with us in the lift but went to left area first, came to us as she saw us well seated and asked us to seat somewhere else because they were more people than us for that space. She made the request sounded as a command which we very politely declined as the rest of the seating options were really worse off and we knew there was plenty of space for them available in the left area where there are only tall tables and chairs (sorry tall chairs are uncomfortable for everyone) She left annoyed and little after the waiter came to say that we should move somewhere else as the sofas were for groups. We said we didn't mind sharing the sofa area with others as we understood there were 4/5 seats more available but they refused saying it was company policy to use that wider sofa space for groups only. There were two other wider sofas spaces like that in "u"shape, one with two people and three in the other so we found the explanation and the whole situation very unfair, arbitrary but also found humiliating to be told to move whilst people around were looking at us, so we decided to go instead and as we left, without an apology, we had to hear the voice of the uneducated local woman with the baby that came from somewhere in the crowd saying in a loud and sarcastic tone "gooood bye" to top the cake. A sense of entitlement that clearly was enabled by the way the terrace decided to address the situation, as we could know understand that she probably went to rant to the waiters that we were seating there instead of them. Very embarrassing scene for me and more for my friend, who just wanted to impress me. As Spaniard, I am usually quite proud of the customer service in Spain but this place is really not at all an example. I also felt as if I had been local I would have been treated differently. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone but not only because it is small and their lack of professionalism and just money over customer care, but also because if you are a couple or two friends you will never be able to seat in the sofa area by the open side of the terrace according to their "policy", which is really the only worthy area in the small terrace. Also apparently is a good idea to bring a few months old baby in a buggy to a cocktail bar with not food service in the evening, which at least in the U.K. is not legally allowed. There are many rooftop terraces in Malaga with far better views, facilities and friendly customer service that really know how to make people, locals or not locals, feel welcomed.
