I have been to the most judgmental dentist. To Dentist who…read more tell me how bad and ugly my teeth look. This is the first time I have received this kind and excellent service at a dentist. I was afraid to go at first, but decided it was needed. I always seem to have pain after going to a dentist, even if not before. When I went to have a mold made for a mouth guard, I was first told my cost would be about $130. A few minutes later I was quoted a cost around $165. Next I was told my share would be around $460 because my insurance only covered 40%. I called my insurance company who said that the amount submitted to them was $649 but that since they were in network they were required to do it for $367, of which $183.50 was my share because my share is 50%. I told the staff this and they said they could not do it for that until they received it from the insurance company in writing. They told me they would call me when they had this. I left the office. My appointment had been made strictly for this purpose weeks ahead of time so they had every opportunity to have secured accurate information. In fact I believe that knew the deal and were trying to stick me with paying my share and the difference between what the insurance would pay and what they wanted. Now I check my insurance and it appears that they have been paid $183.50 for nothing except trying to bilk me. I will not be going back.

At that time Dr. DeLatour was teaching Dentistry at George Washington University, and offered Saturday hours in Fairfax which's also let him have students present for our care. During those years Dr. DeLatour did all of his dentistry, fillings, crowns, root canals. He had two sons and one daughter. She , I believe graduated in Nursing. He often ask my wife questions, since my wife was oldest to two brothers. We were loaded to head out one Saturday on vacation...a temporary crown Dr. DeLatour had installed the pdevious week, fell out. I called him from a pay phone and our Dr.met us at his office and reset the temporary. In February 2002, my wife became sick and I called Dr. Delatour to reschedule her appointments and he said that a Physical limitation he was going to give Jo his practice. . He has always been honest with me as to the pros and cons of a procedure. I look forward to my annual visits because he treats me with respect and is considerate of my needs. As a previous reviewer said, he doesn't have a fancy office; it isn't necessary. In the past, when he did not have the equipment for a procedure he referred me to a colleague who did. I recommend Dr. DeLaTour to anyone who asks me who to use as a dentist.

What I really value in a dentist is reason. I had an awful experience with a dentist close to my house and he recommended I replace all my fillings with some new snazzy material that wouldn't be covered by insurance. I was horrified. He also mentioned a number of cavities that needed refilling and suggested more procedures that seemed quite bizarre to me considering my previous visits to a dentist back home at my parents hadn't suggested any of these...oh and they would cost a boatload of cash. I realized this man was just trying to make money. Stan is not. He is a not a cosmetic dentist who will try to take you and the insurance companies for money. He only does what is necessary and always keeps an eye on things that may become necessary in the near future. He knows me personally now, operates pain free and is funny! I hear he is also wonderful with kids! I have referred 4 friends to him, and they all loved him.

Over the past 60 years that I've been going to dentists I've had lots of good ones and a couple…read morethat were notably bad. I have been seeing Dr Johnson for about ten years and she is the best so far. It's a two-person office. She does ALL the dental work and that includes cleaning. (for me that was impressive) Her assistant, Saliou, takes care if appointments, insurance issues, and other non-dental activities. The space is clean and friendly. There's always classical music in the background. The appointments are spaced so that (at least for me) there's never a wait. Her manner is calm and conversational and she has always been happy to explain what she's doing and describe any options I might have. Finally, the one or two times I've had to reschedule at the last minute they've always been agreeable and understanding. My sense is their priority is pleasantness over profit. To that end, Dr Johnson focuses on general dentistry. The times I've needed something like a root canal or gum surgery she's referred me out and it's always been to another outstanding practitioner. There's a reason she keeps winning "Best Dentist..." awards an my only hope is that people won't read this and start to flood her appointment book.

You can't beat Jodi's friendly face and attitude when you walk in the door. Allison has cleaned my teeth my entire life and she is polite, pleasant, efficient, and patient. I think I could be in and out in ten minutes but we usually end up talking and catching up. Dr. Claybrook is fast and efficient, polite and doesn't "yell" at you for not flossing (although he seriously recommends it). One time I had six cavities (don't judge me) and was terrified of the fillings. Dr. Claybrook makes it the easiest experience, numbing before Novocaine, I was so pleasantly surprised. If you have ever been afraid of the dentist, this is the place to go. The office will change your mind!

This is a great practice and they take great care of you. I'm not a big dentist fan, though have a mouth full of fillings and crowns, so I'm always apprehensive when having to see a new dentist. When necessary, Dr. Miller has referred to other dental specialists that he not only recommends, but also sees when he has an issue. Dr. Miller has always been above board and fixing all of my problems and identifying solutions. Hope he stays in practice for many years, as it would be difficult finding another dentist of his caliber.
