I was originally turned down by one of those online teledentistry companies that I saw an ad for on Instagram. The polite rejection basically translated to "Your teeth are too messed up for our basic remote treatment, so seek out an actual orthodontist." [Waaahhh-- insert crying face emoji here!] After getting a consultation with Dr. Lee, I understood why. I had a lot of overcrowding that needed physical treatment, such as teeth slimming which obviously cannot be handled by a company that just sends you twenty trays, waves you a proverbial goodbye and expects to handle the rest of your treatment on your own. Kinda scary, especially for the cost they're charging you. If you choose to extend your treatment because you're unsatisfied with the results, these companies charge an additional $200+ every time you want to another round of trays. If anything goes wrong, there is no doctor for you to talk to, even for simple questions regarding any discomfort. Getting turned away was a blessing. Anytime I have a concern, I never feel rushed. My questions are thoroughly addressed and I understand everything that is happening with my teeth. Dr. Lee is not the extreme, upselling type. About eighteen years ago, I lost four of my lower front teeth in an accident. At that time, dental…read moreimplant technology was not as advanced, and the bone in the lower front area was very narrow. Because of that, I had a bridge placed instead of implants. Over the years, several of my back teeth also failed, and I eventually had a total of seven implants placed. In 2025, the two teeth supporting my bridge fractured, leaving me missing six lower front teeth. I consulted three different dental offices, and all of them recommended placing four implants. Because these were front teeth and I already had experience with implants, I spent quite some time doing research and consulting different doctors. Eventually I found Dr. Andrew Petersen in Arcadia. Compared with other offices, his fees were somewhat higher, and I hesitated for a while before making the decision. In the end, I chose him for three reasons. First, if implants are done well, they can last fifteen years or even longer; if they are not done well, they may fail in eight to ten years. Second, I see dental work as a long-term investment in my health. Third, front-tooth implants are technically challenging, so choosing the right doctor is very important. When I visited Dr. Petersen, he recommended placing three implants instead of four. After the procedure, I was very satisfied with both his technical skill and the service provided. His staff members are very friendly, and the office is extremely well organized. Later, I also had another implant placed an upper right molar along with a bone graft. After the procedure, Dr. Petersen noticed the bone around that area was still weak, so he performed an additional bone graft to reinforce it--without charging me anything extra. He said he wants to make sure every implant he places is done properly and will last. That moment reassured me that choosing Dr. Petersen was absolutely the right decision. You need a root canal! A what?!, a root canal!! Yes, that word "root canal" sounds frightening…read moreindeed. But it was a piece of cake, or a walk in the park? What a stigma. My root canal went smooth and painless. Thank goodness! Dr. Oo did a perfect job. Yes, the pain killer injections in the beginning was a bit painful, but very minimal. The most painful of the three injections was probably my cheeks area. But that was it. I waited approximately twenty minutes after the shots. I was admiring the mountain views from the room's window, I walked around outside the office (around the medical building) to ease myself before the procedure, and yes my heartbeat was still missing a beat. Anyhow, the root canal lasted about an hour and forty minutes. Dr. Oo did an awesome job. She was very hygienic, made sure my mouth was covered with a medical paper towel, except for a hole to work with, and she and her assistant was also properly geared in scrubs and masks to prevent bacterial infections. Dr. Oo us very professional. Kept checking on me to make sure I was fine. She was telling me about the different processes while working in my mouth for the most part to keep me informed. I basically did not feel any pain during the procedure. And the outcome along with the recovery period was to the point. I was also prescribed antibiotics just in case.
