This special spot distinguishes itself from the rest of Grand Haven businesses by having its closed…read moreday on Wednesdays instead of Mondays. That worked wonderfully for us on our recent visit where we were so disappointed to find the city practically a ghost town and all the spots we'd been so excited to visit closed because it was a Monday. My friend and her young daughters and I had a terrific time perusing the eclectic offerings, including tons of great vintage and legit labels. We were offered coffee, and the gal working was super welcoming. Prices are a touch on the high side, but there are some great sales (all pink and green tickets were 25% off on our visit, and they always have sales on Mondays, which makes it a doubly delightful day to visit). My friend's kids were over the moon at the fancy outfits they found for the Captain's Dinner on their upcoming cruise.

Down to Earth has been a favorite store in Grand Haven. I stopped in today to look around and was…read moremet by a wonderful sales associate. I found (3) items to try on and she placed them in the dressing room. She took time to check back in to see if there was anything I needed and was very helpful. Checking out with the owner was another experience. She rang up a necklace and the looked at the price tag on the jacket, I had hoped to purchase. She looked at me and said the wrong price was on the jacket. "Obviously someone has put a different price tag on this coat", With that, she ripped the price tag off and looked at me as if I had replaced the tag. I told her I did not that that was the tag that was on the coat. The tag did not look like it had been tampered with, and I was not sure where she was going with her acquisition. There were a number of other customers standing around the check out counter. I was embarrassed with the way she handled this. . Needless to say, I did not purchase the jacket. She may have had a bad day. I hope she treats her other customers better than she did today.

This store sets right across from City Hall in a former residence that has been repurposed as a business and may be easily missed! Many vendors sell their hand crafted items in this shop. In fact they also do classes on Saturdays in their "Maker Space". I was inspired to visit on this snowy day in November. I browsed for gifts and enjoyed a conversation with an owner. I love that this shop is bridging the gap between business districts. They are bringing the best of downtown to the "Seventh Street district", (some of my favorite shops and businesses...JW's, Tenden, Bekins, Guitar Haven, Krizan's Citgo) Opening this business, in my opinion, is a gutsy move during this pandemic. I tip my hat and wish them well. I will be back and encourage you to visit this shop, attend a Saturday class, and browse for gifts. Their website has class schedules and vendor applications. (I almost forgot to mention this!) If you are a maker and want to get a start, fill out a vendor application. Wishing all who read this a warm holiday!
