Singing has been a hobby of mine since I was a kid. Gene helped me achieve a bucket list item of publishing songs! They are on Spotify under "Metaphor Mania" or my name. I couldn't have made that happen without lessons and support from him. I am also much more comfortable getting up on the karaoke stage, and now I often receive enthusiastic applause from the crowds! With my hectic schedule, I never seem to have the time to practice consistently, but meeting with Gene weekly or bi-weekly over the last decade + has helped me improve my voice and vocal control. Music heals the soul. I highly recommend working with him to achieve your singing goals! Gene's stuido is also centrally located, but he also offers Zoom sessions for those further away.

I could definitely see SLS being overwhelming/intense as a first experience with voice training, and I'm glad I have a classical foundation to lean on, but Gene has pushed me to break my habits and be more flexible and versatile. Gene is super nice, knows his vocal anatomy/science, allows you to pick your repertoire, charges a fair price, and offers the first lesson free to make sure you like working with him. Other teachers I've had pretty much just had a book they teach out of and kind of just make you go through it one page at a time, but Joe figured out some fun songs that were just enough to challenge me and helped me work through them and understand them. He also has a really infectious, enthusiastic attitude that is really genuine, and his piano skill is crazy. I kicked off lessons with Keith over a year ago amidst another one of my "I need to channel my creative energy into a hobby" crises and I have not looked back ever since. I've had instructors who sit me down in front of a guitar chord chart and a beginner'a guitar song book each week we play songs that I don't want to learn. Keith not only finds way to integrate learning into songs that I actually enjoy but he makes the repetition of learning guitar fun. He works with my crazy work schedule, he's patient, he frickin ROCKS at guitar (and drums and god knows what other instruments!) and he knows what he's talking about! The amount of progress that I have made since starting lessons with Keith has been phenomenal. I highly recommend him to any and all looking for a guitar instructor!
