The Mayor Pro Tem is chosen from among the entire Council and serves a term of two years. The City Council serves as the community's legislative body, having responsibilities for enacting City ordinances, appropriating funds to conduct City business, and providing policy direction to City staff. By provision of the City Charter, Council has the power of appointment over the City Manager, City Attorney, and Municipal Court Judge.

Government should not pick winners and losers and the City Council does this as a matter of course. I was the head of a City Board that I was on for four years, improved the processes of the Board immensely, brought a lot of experience to the Board and built a "bench" of future Board leaders and they did not allow me to serve a second term because I am a senior citizen/white male - all in the name of identity politics, AKA diversity. I lay this at the feet of Councilman Ray Martinez and Mayor Troxell. Martinez had a hand-picked member on our Board (most likely a family friend) who was almost always absent (always an excuse) and never did participate. He refused to remove her from the Board despite ample evidence...he put her on probation and then she still did not show or participate. I am convinced the pressure I put on Martinez to remove her from the Board (she abruptly resigned after being able to put it on her CSU graduate resume') played a role in my not getting a second term. Agendized, corrupt, good old boy network Fort Collins City Council, particularly Martinez and Troxell.

Fort Collins is a 10/10 for me. This is place I've visited almost every year since being a kid, and…read moreit continues to pull me towards it. Not only is this town big on their breweries (there are seriously so many unique, tasty ones here! Tour them! Try them all!), they have a ton of places for outdoor adventures. Horsetooth Reservoir is RIGHT there, and throughout the entire town there are separate trails that cross with other trails. My personal favorite is the Spring Creek Trail. Perfect for bike riding, running, or walking. There are volleyball and tennis courts along the trail, along with picnic spots, grills, community centers. If I lived here, I'd be biking everywhere. You could easily never need a car here. There are also very close options for river rafting, and kayaking (Which we've done in previous visits). Fort Collins has a perfect small-college-town vibe, and I would have LOVED to go to CSU. The downtown area is so walkable, and the food is amazing, the cafes are adorable, the art is fun. As soon as you set foot in FoCo, you can feel how much locals love their town. This place is an utter gem, and so close to my heart.

They have a good size Kid Zone. Then they have the history of Fort Collins. Then, I believe, they have a rotating exhibit. At the time was all about Skin. On humans and animals. It was fascinating. Then the best part was the music area. So much interaction! It was great! Definitely recommend. Will definitely be here again.

Even without it though, it's a great price for what you get! There is so much to do and explore here! The music section is definitely a favorite as you get to test out so many instruments! Everything was well maintained (minus one or two exhibits that weren't functioning at the time). The toddler area is great for the little ones to be separate. Personally, I was absolutely stoked for the shadow wall - it's just a fun/silly thing to do. When we ventured upstairs we didn't realize there was a theater until a staff member asked if we were there to see the show. Since we had to get going, I asked if I could peak in real quick to check it out and he was totally fine with it. It looks so cool! We will definitely be back to catch a show in the future.

These early years are more critical to a person's brain development than any other time in their life, so picking the best possible preschool I could afford was important to me. This is the best bang for the buck in town! My children both thrived here. Kelly respects each child and really listens to them. She asks leading questions to empower them to explore and make their own discoveries. Because of small class sizes and her dedication to quality, she can update the daily provocations based on the children's interests and individual progress. She takes pictures daily, so you'll know what your kiddo is working on. Kidtooia is environmentally friendly and uses open-ended toys. I also admired the kind but firm way socio-emotional growth is nurtured here. Go in for the free tour, and your child won't want to leave. :)
