The Largo Public Library is a world-class institution that the people of Pinellas County can be proud of. I'm in the midst of studying for my board exams and I consider living in proximity to the Largo Public Library a huge blessing. The facilities are clean, modern and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and competent. The library has a speedy WiFi free connection and plugs are readily available in both the reading rooms and the study rooms. The study rooms are great too, at par with what you'd expect from a major university. They can be reserved online up to two weeks in advance which is a major convenience. There's also a cafe downstairs that I have yet to try as I often bring my own lunch. No food is allowed within the stacks, reading rooms, and study rooms but you can drink beverages so long as they are covered. There is a courtyard area with a nice water feature that allows eating. Parking is plentiful, and the fact that so many spaces are shaded by trees is a welcome plus given how hot Florida can be. I love this place. read more

I had returned two perfectly fine books to them via their drive through a few days prior when I received a disturbing phone call from another library location calling me to inform me I was being charged with $65 for the two books because they were found wet and moldy! I called my location and asked what in the world happened between my drop off and them receiving the books and they claimed they were in fact wet and moldy despite me contesting it when I dropped them off. I will not be using their drive through drop off ever again which is highly inconvenient for me as I have three kids under the age of 6. Getting them all in and out of the car is labor-some so I was thrilled when I first learned of the drive through. This is the first time I ever dropped anything off with the drive through. I won't be using it again unfortunately, not if I'll be charged for wet and moldy books! I'm aggravated I'm being charged for, clearly, their negligence in getting the books out of the drop off or maybe cleaning it, if there's residual mold in there. I hope this doesn't happen to other people! Don't use their drop off and don't expect any mercy or understanding either if you call to contest their claims. I take care of my books that I borrow because I respect other people and I was treated like I did this. So disrespectful and I'm very disappointed in how I've been treated. They have a superiority complex at this place and do not respect their patrons. read more

I still love going to the public library. With the crazy hustle and bustle that life has to offer, I have recently gotten back into reading books for fun. From reading about Martin Luther King and Alexander Hamilton to getting through the entire series of Dan Brown's books featuring Robert Langdon (Da Vinici Coad, Inferno, The Lost Symbol) I am enjoying reading for fun again. The Largo Public Library is a cool place to sit, relax, read or browse for cool books, movies and music. They have rooms you can reserve to get a quiet space all to yourself or you can sit outside in the garden-ish area. I love going to the library and I think you will too. You can get just about any book you want for free and in some cases they will even purchase books that you suggest. read more

Employee by the name of Mitzi told me i had to leave because i had a ESA dog. She told only service dogs are aloud so i got kicked out. But yet theres no signs posted on criteria of dogs and she is not leagally authorized to ask for any letters. I feel like I can't say much beyond what other reviewers have said, but this place deserves another 5 star review. This is everything a library should be. I love the drive here down a long, tree-lined, small winding road. There is beautiful landscaping on the outside. Inside, there is a cafe whose items I have yet to try but will probably need to update my review once I do. There is a fantastic selection of books. I know I can pretty much find anything on my reading list here. I love the self check out feature, but have yet to use the drive thru. Likely the best kids section in the county, Largo library has a beautiful children's section located in a wing of its own. Toys & games available for play, large selection of kids music & books on CD and of course hundreds if not thousands of kids books. Largo public library is one of my favorite libraries! You would not expect Largo Library to be so nice, but it has fantastic open spacing and has an open and inviting environment. On the first floor is a large children's area in addition to the majority of the media resources, as well as a majority of online resources such as computers or printers. The second floor possesses most of the non-fiction as well as the teenage space (anime, manga, etc.). Here you will find some additional computers and quiet study spaces. Growing up I would always stop by this library for my IB studying. You won't find a cleaner, larger, or open library in Pinellas county in my opinion. It would be nice if they were utilized more by the community for large events, but the fact that it's tucked away compared to some of the other more visible libraries means that its relatively quiet and for me a sanctuary of reading. Their children's space is one of the largest children's spaces I've seen in a library and the community events for that are especially nice, which includes reading programs, movie days, etc. Finally the staff is very warm and welcoming and they have always taken care of any needs or requests I might have. read more

AMAZING library!! This is like the library of all libraries! Well, at least the ones I have been to in the area. I didn't expect much with it being in Largo, but holy cow! When I walked in I was blown away. LOVE IT. There is a drive thru book return and book pick up also I think? Awesome! Upon entering, there is a cafe to your right and a small bookstore to the left. The library is two stories with plenty of space to sit down and read or browse the Internet. Very clean and well organized library. I honestly haven't roamed the entire library yet but plan to soon! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Superb customer service! There are return windows for your books where you slide your books/media in, kinda like a Redbox return. Very technologically modern. When checking out your books, you scan your library card, enter your password, place your books on the scanner and BAM! You're done. What's cool about this is you can log into your library account online, reserve what you want to pick up, they email/text you when it's ready to be picked up so literally, you could be in and out in under 2 minutes. Very convenient for me- I just drive by on my lunch break. read more

Beautiful library. They have a very good variety of books. The cafe workers are nice and the food is good. The kids section is beautiful. I have gone to this library since I was 5 and I've always loved doing all the activities held for children there. Movie nights and book club is great. The teen room could use some work I guess. They need more books in the teen area. The reason I rate it 4 stars rather then 5 is because the staff can be quiet rude at times. One of the workers was being really rude to me one time, even though I won't name who that is. They seem to be annoyed sometimes. But the library itself is fantastic. read more

Facing an extended stay in the sleepy community of Largo on Florida's central Gulf Coast, I headed to the library in order to become a member so I can maintain a healthy supply of reading material for the pool and beach. The old building - low-ceilinged, windowless, and cluttered, which made it very claustrophobic - has been replaced by a dazzling two-story structure in a park-like setting quite unlike anything you'd expect to find in a small town. Walls of glass infuse the space with natural light and, unlike the former facility, in this one the aisles separating the bookcases are wide enough to allow two people to pass with neither one needing to suck in his gut. There are sections dedicated to those interested in personal investment, career opportunities, and small business assistance; a children's department boasting a collection of some 40,000 books and computers programmed with educational games and research materials; a teen zone that features a writer's club open to all middle and high school students; Internet access via one hundred computers; and an extensive selection of videos, DVDs, CDs, audio books, and sheet music. That it's open on Sundays is an added bonus. An over-priced Starbucks-style cafe at the entrance seems superfluous, and to allow patrons to carry drinks throughout the building is asking for trouble. Unfortunately, placing no limit on the number of videos and DVDs that can be taken at one time, as they did before the introduction of self-check-out stands, results in shelves empty save for a few titles starring the likes of David Spade and Pauley Shore. But, aside from these minor complaints, this is a library of which the local residents - heavily responsible for raising the funds that built it - can be proud. read more

This library is fantastic and there's no other way to describe it. I've been coming almost every day for the past 3 weeks to study and I can't say enough good things about it. It's very clean, calm, and quaint. There's a cafe near the front entrance which has just about everything from burgers to pizza to coffee and milk shakes. There's individual study rooms as well as a reading room towards the back of the library which is also perfect for studying. I really think this is one of the best if not the best library in Pinellas and everyone should come visit! read more

Being an avid reader myself and quite studious, it has been difficult to find a place (library) that I can truly enjoy. Aside from the beautiful architecture of the building it has a lovely outer layout. The interior is just phenomenal. Such a vast space filled with various sitting/reading areas and even private study rooms! The library always maintains a clean, organized environment at all times. The staff is very polite and helpful for that matter. If you have children they can enjoy the kids section with all sorts of fun books and reading area as well. The library is definitely up to date with technology making it very easy for you to request your books online and then can pick them up at your convenience. It also has a nice quaint bookstore with a nice selection! The prices are a bargain too! There is also a lovely cafeteria on the right side once you enter in the main lobby. Their menu is somewhat simple but delicious. You can go online and see the menu for yourself. Trust me this is a library you will want to visit again and again. read more

I love their online computer service - it's so easy to choose what you want to read, place a hold, then simply pick it up when you receive the email. Browsing in the library is always a pleasant way to spend an hour or so. The librarians are very nice and personable. Excellent selections. A fantastic library, I go every week, and I love it. I do think the cafe is overpriced, and their (iced) coffee is weak. It's nice to have a place to go and get a bite, and the service is very good, but overall I would have to say skip it. read more

As others mention, the ability to order books online and pick them up in the drive thru is a major plus if you're in a rush. But this is a great library for browsing, too. We are snow birds here from Canada for the winter months and so enjoy Largo and all that it has to offer. The Library is one of the finest we have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Today's experience was over the top in how the staff really care about their customers. I had received an email that my book was in to be picked up. When I went to get it, it wasn't on the hold shelf as usual. I went to the desk to ask about it and had 2 of the most helpful young ladies scouring the entire library for my book. They couldn't find it, but assured me that someone would personally call me when they did. We left and as we're pulling out of our parking space, one of those awesome girls was outside looking for us. They had found my book, she told me to stay in the car and she would check it out and bring it to me in the car and that is exactly what she did. Now I call that over the top service. There's something about that upscale feeling that hits you as soon as you enter. An art gallery, snack bar, drive-thru, large bookstore and an English language learning center. Two levels with plush carpeting, with computers on the second floor. Very comfortable seats. Large children's area. The building is surrounded by a park, at the intersection of three bus routes.
