I have been to Lanthier Winery several times. I have found the folks there to be nice and they have a lovely garden area outside with tables and chairs found throughout. My friends and I stopped to sample wine and their flavored vodkas. They also have slushies available They have both wine flavored slushies and vodka slushies. I am not big on the slushies but was definitely up to sample the vodka. My friends bought slushies and a bottle or two of their wine. I really liked one of their vodkas and brought one of those home. I am sure that when I am in Madison I will stop here again.

Exceptional sweet wines and customer service. The interior is very unique with an upper loft area that has several quaint and cozy spots to relax and enjoy your wine. The gardens outside are equally quaint with beautiful flowers and plants and small areas tucked here and there to sit, sip and enjoy the view.

A wonderful location to enjoy a wine tasting and a glass of wine. Our wine tasting included delicious wines. The tasting host proved very knowledgeable and friendly too. Elaborate, extensive gardens feature walking paths showcasing the beautiful plants, flowers, and garden decorations. A great place to enjoy a glass of wine and extensive outdoor seating.

I am not a wine drinker, but this place makes me want to be a wine drinker. We actually didn't stop in during business hours, but they have a free public garden you can explore on their property that is open from sun up to sun down. It was super eclectic and fun.

What a great stop to our day in Madison! Loved the wine options. Cannot wait to visit at Christmas and see the decorations. Service was great. Several slushies available!

A winery just outside of the main street specializing in sweet wines. All wines are free to try. There were about 10 or so on the menu. They also have dipped their hand into distilling! I'm not a sweet wine fan, but gave a few a try. Ending up having a glass of the Chambourcin and hanging out upstairs where there is booth seating. Try the vodkas! Regular and Vanilla currently on the menu. These are $2 a try, not free like the wines. I ended up buying a bottle of the vanilla since it was delicious. I imagine it would be great with some cocktails. Upstairs is the "art gallery" with seating and lots of quilts on display. In a nice way it reminded me of someone's grandma's house. A cozy place for a quick glass of wine though. There was no music on, and we were the only people in the place so a bit quiet. I would be back to grab some more vodka if I am in town again- and they are expanding to gin soon!

    Near entrance.

What's great place. Wine is excellent. Be sure to allow time to visit the garden area. Bring your wine and enjoy all the flowers. Be sure to pet the cats!!

Beautiful, eccentric winery across the street from the river! Service was fabulous! Wines tend to be on the sweet side, but overall a nice stop on our trip!

Nice outside gardens, dark dark interior with minimally friendly hosts. The upstairs has cute booth areas to sip away at the wines. Wines on average are $21.50 a bottle, no true stand outs. Blackberry was a sweet good choice. Beware..... that upon entry is the killer step of sobriety! I nearly sprained my knee upon walking in the dark building and surely many before me have stumbled all whilst being sober. May want to fix that step.

The staff is amazing! The gardens are stunning and the wine is even better. The seasonal flavors are delicious. The winter red Rudolph is my favorite. They have free wine tasting and it cost nothing to bring your friends or family to see all thier beautiful gardens and art. Right now they have the festival of trees going on and the day after Thanksgiving the festival of lights. Their winter flavors are available right now. It's literally like a winter wonderland!

This was our second winery stop in Madison, Indiana. We walked over from Thomas Family Winery. I think it is around a one mile walk, and if the weather is agreeable, the walk is lovely! The historic homes and buildings are beautiful! Lanthier Winery is absolutely charming-looking as you walk up to it. It certainly LOOKS more like a winery than other in-town wineries I have been to (both in Madison and in other towns or cities). It is a little confusing at first where to enter, but pay attention to the signs and you will find your way to the tasting room. You walk a short way through the small garden to the entry door, and once inside you are greeted with a shouted "Hello!" (because a tall shelf of stored wine blocks the view of/from the tasting bar and register area. You may also be greeted by one of the winery doggos! That was certainly a highlight of the visit...anytime a sweet pup comes over to say hello to me, anywhere, is a highlight. Again, tastings here are free of cost and you are welcome to sample as many or as few as you choose. They have a fairly impressive list, in the arena of the number of different wines offered! I ended up tasting 5 or 6 wines, and stayed towards the sweeter side of things. The older gentleman doing our tasting was friendly and sweet and was a joy to have our experience with. He shared a lot of information about the town as well, including upcoming cultural events and and festivals where the winery would be making an appearance. We absolutely enjoyed our visit here and I even bought a bottle of wine to take home! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Madison area!

Wine with an amazing view? Yes please!…read more The Ridge Winery & Tasting Room knows how to make an afternoon of enjoying wine. I met my family there over the weekend for a fun lunch. The Ridge allows BYOFood, so we brought a spread. And then we bought wine from them. My favorite was the Blackberry Table Wine, which was sweet but balanced. We took over a table on the large patio that overlooks the Ohio River. And man, what a view. There was slight breeze and ample room for everyone to sit, while being socially distant. We watched barges slowly make their way down the river while we chatted and drank. And then inside, The Ridge has a small but fun gift shop. My mom and aunt bought a cheeky glass and T-shirt. The Ridge also offers tastings in case you want to try several fruit wines. I've had better wine in Kentucky/Indiana, but The Ridge's wine plus view and overall atmosphere makes this a must-visit.

I loved every wine I tried and brought several bottles home (which were consumed within a week or so). The tasting room is connected to a couple's home but it isn't weird at all (b/c I thought it would be!) It was so enjoyable to taste the wine, chat with the owners (who were hilarious and in love), then buy our glasses of wine to relax on the deck for girl talk and river views. I look forward to coming back and hope to bring my husband for a relaxing afternoon!

There were a few parking spaces open and we were able to get one. The resturant seemed pretty busy so we decided to go flower shopping before we ate lunch. We were able to find all the flowers we wanted (even some we didn't know we needed). Within 30minutes the crowd had cleared from the restaurant and we were able to sit down on the porch out front. Our waitress was friendly and tentative. We ordered their fresh ginger lemonade which was so refreshing. We also ordered the trio plate with 1 bird seed salad, 1 potato salad, and 1 chicken salad. The bird seed was my favorite! The restrooms were clean and spacious. The property itself is so beautiful. It is a great place to relax and enjoy sometime outside!

First things first, we (4 of us) put our names on the tea room waiting list. Then we shopped for our gardens. I'd selected the plants I wanted to buy, and then it was time for lunch. Our name was next on the list. We stood waiting for the hostess when a pushy woman and two men climbed onto the porch in front of us. The woman insisted on being seated. The hostess explained that the kitchen was backed up and she couldn't seat them. Said woman loudly insisted that they 'only wanted to sit and they wouldn't be ordering anything'. A manager came out and the old woman tried to establish that a relationship existed with her and the owner. She insisted again that they be seated. They were, and immediately got wine, silverware and menus. All of this in front of us, the party that was standing waiting. At that point we said we were next on the list, but since they had not only been seated, but served before us we would leave without eating and without buying the plants we'd come to purchase. The kicker is that there were MANY seating choices outside in the shade that these people should have been directed to rather than being seated in front of us. And we left - never to return. We didn't even get an "I'm sorry." Addendum, all was not lost. We drove to a new-to-us restaurant in Seymour IN, and had great service and great food for much less than this would have cost! Addendum 2: to the person who responded to this review yesterday, thank you. I can't find your response now, but I appreciate your comments and that you took the time to explain the situation.

We arrived a little bit early and had lunch at the cafe on-site, which was pretty good, and then we checked in for our tour. What people may not know is that below the gift shop area is where a lot of the barrels and such are. I think our tour guide's name was Ricky and she was very good, I learned a little bit about the distillery. We had chosen the bottle your own experience, which ended up being really unique. At the end of the tour, we got to taste a few of the bourbons, literally from the barrels, and then we got to fill a bottle from one of the open barrels. After that, we put a sticker/the label one, plus one with our name, and another with the back label. Differentiation was encouraged, although we all put them on standardly except for my husband, who had the four of us plus Ricky sign the bottle, which was fun. I believe the tour was $100 each, and just the bottle itself would've been like $80, so for $20 extra, it was a good deal. At the end of the tour, they let us taste a good portion of their wines and other whiskeys and bourbons; I will say their wines were not that great, unfortunately, though there were two that I liked and purchased. They were very generous with the tastings and I don't think there was a maximum number ... I tasted maybe 1/3 of what was on the sheet, aka open for tastings. Overall I would come back here, although I probably wouldn't need to do the tour a second time (it would be fun to see the rickhouses, though).

They had a band come on at 1pm outside where they have lots of outside seating (or bring your own chair). Would recommend getting a pizza or flatbread and a pitcher of sangria. There is also a family fun playground/park down the road from the winery and you can take in your own food and drink; it does have a $6 per person (over 2 years old) admission fee.
