I can't say enough good things about Lantern Brewing. I love their tasting menu - there are a lot of different options for different tastes including wine and ciders. They rotate it often and I'm always excited to try what's new since they brew their beers in house. Their drinks are very reasonably priced, the space is so open and inviting (especially when it's warm and the patio is open!), and the staff is so kind. I also hosted a private event here, and the owners were very accommodating and helpful. This is a very special neighborhood brewery that you don't want to miss out on. I've been to Lantern a couple of times to meet friends. They have a lot of tables inside, but depending on the time of day, they may fill up. Also note that the place is kid friendly and the stroller and kid contingent tends to dominate the place earlier. If you want to avoid that, that grouo tends to clear out towards 7, consequently freeing up tables. About the beer: when I go to a brewery, especially in the PNW, I tend to eyeball their IPA selection. In the two times I've been to Lantern, what I've noticed is that they haven't had an IPA selection. That isn't terrible in itself, and it kind of forces me to expand my choices. I've had pales and sours (which they had a couple of the times I've gone), and had their gose the last time, which all of us enjoyed. For food, there's usually a truck. Last time was a nice Mexican truck, which was really quite tasty. Parking sucks. Arriving around 6:30 increases your chances because the folks with kids and their SUVs tend to be heading out at that time. read more

We finally made it here this past weekend and I was blown away. The aesthetic and concept are totally perfect, in my humble opinion. I love the art nouveau style of the brand and the French names of the beer. And most importantly, they taste amazing. We came specifically for the very limited release of Sagesse, their special beer infused with sage leaves. It was perfect! Truly such a unique beer and so aromatic. I loved it so much that I even got a mini growler of it to go, and even the growler was beautifully designed. All the other ones we tried were great too. I stayed in a hotel room last night and it happened to be right next to this brewery so I thought I'd check it out. I got the 10 beer sampler so I could try all their beers and it was only $20, not terrible. So I tried each one and hung out in their decently large space. The abbey double was really good! The rest were fine, nothing totally outstanding to my specific flavor palette. I noticed a ton of fruit flies flying around which was annoying. Then I noticed they kept flying into my beers and drowning themselves in there. Probably not the worst way to go but absolutely not ideal for wanting to drink my beers. I told the server and she didn't seem to be surprised or care so I just left with 10 beers that I only took a sip out of each. Very disappointing experience. read more

My friends took my wife and I here. It was a close walk from their house. It was a funny brewery and I dont know if it was time or the brewery or location, but it was about half adult half children in this place. Now that kind of stuff does not bother me. I dont have kids but I love being able to visit places like this with friends who have kids. The brewery has plenty of seating and a great atmosphere. Its a smaller warehouse/industrial converted to brewery. You can see all the tools in the back and i love seeing where breweries brew. It was a cool place for sure. The beer is pretty amazing. We did the big flight and tried everything they had. I did not have one beer I did not like. The dubble and tripel are amazing. Not only is the tripel almost double digit abv, but it had a great flavor as well. I've bookmarked Lantern Brewing to try months ago and just this past weekend I've finally made it in. It's right off Aurora, and it's pretty unassuming, located in a neighborhood, it would be pretty easy to miss. The interior is a pretty large space, and they have food trucks on-site, you will need to check the website as to the rotations. This past Saturday evening, it was Cycle Dogs (Hot dogs, which go perfect with beer). On days that there are no food trucks, you can bring in outside food. It appears this used to be a car garage, they have the ginoromous doors for it, and during the warm months, those doors would open up to allow for more breezes. There were numerous spaces throughout, you can have a seat at the bar, or opt for the picnic table settings, or just a regular table seating. There were board games as you enter to your left, and a foosball table, too. They are kid and dog friendly. And if you want to rent out the space, you can! So, enough about the interior, let's have a chat about the beer. We opted for all 10 beer tastings for $13, a total bargain! Plus, I wanted to try what they offer. What they offer is more along the lines of Belgium style beer. A bit lighter, not really IPA-centered, but that doesn't mean they don't have IPAs, they do, it's just not their focus. On their current tap menu is the Alpenglow: collaboration with NW peaks, Triple IPA with juicy hop aroma, apricot and pineapple flavor notes, a definite must! Of the 10 tastings, this was my favorite. While we were there, our tap-master was Nate, a super cool, ex-bike mechanic dude. Of course, he and my hubby know a lot of the same people in the industry, so we were there for a while enjoying beer and conversation. Absolutely huge open space! The main area where you walk in houses both the tap room and the brewery. While there's plenty of community style seating, that still doesn't guarantee that you're going to be able to find a spot -- it was packed! When I walked up to the bar I was happy to see that they had a lot of choices - 10 to be exact - because so many times the smaller breweries just don't have that many projects going at one time. There were several that sounded really good, I couldn't decide! And that's when it hit me: the menu actually has a try all 10 option right on it for $13. Sign me up! The beer maid looked at me like I was maybe a little crazy, but happily poured all of the beer and brought it out to the table for me. It was presented as 10 glasses (4oz each?) on a tray, laid out in the same order of the menu so I knew what was what. Between the giant Coney island dog I got from Cycle Dogs (a vegan food truck that hangs out right in front fairly often - heck Facebook for current times) and the copious amount of beer, I was certainly there for awhile! All and all it was a pretty good experience. This is one of those places that the parents like to hang out, but most of them actually parented their children and it wasn't an issue. So, if you like to drink beer around children this place is awesome. those of us that like to keep adult activities for the adults? Not the target market in a place like this. Dog friendly! Definitely less dogs than children, but everyone was well behaved and super adorable. The beer itself was hit and miss. There were a couple that I couldn't even finish because bleh, everything else was A-Okay! If Ale is your thing, then it must be fortunate when a Brewery moves into your neighborhood, right? This is a neighborhood joint. Patrons obviously walked here, some with their dogs. Several people we're watching a game on the TV, while others were tossing bean bags. What made the environment cohesive was a wonderful mix if masterfully brewed ales. These were, no doubt, Belgian inspired--but there was more. The Brewers have added something special into the mix and created a new taste. My only wish is that the would get someone with a great food pallet to pair their ales to certain flavor profiles. This hidden gem off aurora is one of my local favorites. They have some great original beers with a Frenchy vibe. All the beers are good. Not a whole lot of seasonal on rotation and no guest taps but also have mulled wine in the winter. Good food truck selections. Love this place. I frequent it with my girlfriend and our dog, Daphne. We love introducing it to friends and visiting family, too. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is open and welcoming, and the beer is delicious. As someone who is not a fan of IPAs, I appreciate their wide selection of wheat beers (and others) rather than focusing solely on IPAs. The Naughty Gnome is my favorite but there isn't a Wit Bier they've brewed that I haven't loved. I've been here twice and done the tasting samplers. They have a large variety with a few fun beers that I have enjoyed. I have also really enjoyed finding their coupon in the Chinook book which allows you to get 2 for 1 samplers. The sampler glasses seem larger than most. The space itself is pretty nice and convenient to access with plenty of street parking outside. I like the open air feel the garage doors provide. On both occasions the people behind the bar were very helpful and friendly. I am always tempted to play some foosball. I hope to make it one day when they have a food truck. I dont remember the details of each of the 10 beers that I tasted, but I will say I will definitely be going back as I liked the space and the person running the place was really nice. It was a little cold the further back you got so if you wanna stay warm... stay toward the bar because you can actually feel the heat there. Lantern Brewing was a sneaky little place for me. They were at a smaller location a year or so ago but moved by the time I was able to get there. A restaurant of some kind was there in the space where they once were and obviously no one had a clue as to what I was talking about. So I was very excited to see in The Stranger that Lantern Brewing resurfaced at another address and with a bigger facility, not far from their original location. Steve and I were doing a brewery crawl all afternoon. We hit the remaining Ballard breweries that we have not been to all afternoon yet we were drinking very responsibly since we just got one beer for the two of us to share. At this place we got the Stout. The beer as it was described had a roasted carmel aroma as well as in taste. It was excellent. The guy that ran the place also was the bartender apparently and was very congenial and nice. We even got a free snack mix bowl which was great! Just what we needed! What is this? A place where parents throw birthday parties for their four year olds? I think there were more children than adults in the place on a Friday night and I'm sick of having to tell adults and their children that they need to ask before petting dogs. Seriously... I go to alcohol-serving establishments because I want to avoid children. Why is this such an issue in Seattle? If you're going to bring your crotch fruit to bars, at least keep them at your table, because hearing screaming children at a foosball table while I want to have a quiet night out with friends and our dogs is not cool. Beer is fine here, atmosphere blows because of entitled parents. I can't wait until the day that breweries in Seattle have to exclude kids... As new parents we are just trying to navigate the waters of what a typical Friday night looks like for us. My husband discovered Lantern Brewing while on a walk someday and decided we needed to check it out. It was super kid-friendly with lots of families out and about on a Friday night.
