WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU VALUE SAFE, HEALTHY NAILS. I should have left the minute I walked in - this place is super unsanitary. I did not once see any of the two people working there unpack a clean pair of sanitized tools, they picked used tools out of their carts and I even saw one person brush previous cuticle crude off of a pair of clippers. The worst thing though, was the guy in charge of shaping nails tried to put acrylic nail tips on my SKIN. He literally glued the nail tips to the top of my nail bed, on my skin. He tried to fight me on the right process but I told him to immediately take them off and I left this nasty, unsafe place. As you can tell by my previous review, I've been one of Lan's years long local customers. Unfortunately in the past 3 months Ive visited twice and I've been hurt by the female nail tech. I'm not too sure what it even was if im being honest. But those two times (and sadly, this is the last visit for me) Ive had pain along my nails the next day. My big toes hurt to put pressure on them and my manicure sides are raw. The color was kind of messily applied. They also are not that hygienic. Expect to have someone working on your mani after they just were touching a strangers feet with no gloves or handwash in between. I gave it a second chance because i desperately wanted to fix my nails. Lans is easy to walk in without appointment. However due to everything else, I can't come back. I would pay the extra bit for a more upscale service salon. And just be more on top of your scheduling of services. Two days later and I already have a chip on my "gel". read more

Well my experience wasn't that great. I tried to keep a positive attitude. Advice to this salon is to care a little more about your clients. No one should ever walk away feeling bad about their experience. Customer service is everything. 1. Not friendly, didn't feel welcomed 2. Pedicure lady sorry didn't get her name but she was rude, didn't want to help suggesting colors. Got mad when I turned down the callous remover. Barely scrubbed the bottom of my feet. Left my big toe bleeding. 3. Henry is always busy maybe he's the one that does the best job on gel and acrylic. They don't accept appointments so the wait time is really long. 4. Sterilization is not up to par 5. Parking sucks 6. My nails and toes look sloppy zoom in and you can see the glue on my ring finger. I'm neurotic about my nails and toes being polished on the corners, tips and near the cuticles. I told Vivi several times to make sure she polished well. Each time I was told on the next coat. This looks hideous to me. I still tipped because I'm a nice person. Decided not to take my daughter back so she wouldn't be disappointed. I came into this place because it was Christmas Eve and I hadn't had time to get my nails done the day/week before. I go to school and have a FT job and I have 2 young boys to care for so my schedule is limited. I came in during lunch break expecting to be an hour maybe hour and a half. It took 2 hours and 2 separate techs to do my full set ombre acrylic nails and French tip gel pedi . There was a miscommunication/language barrier and the color was not what I wanted on my pedi, but fine. 38 ~ pedi; 75 ~ full set acrylic ombré nails. I didn't appreciate them my not establishing prices from the gate. They did do a good job but overpriced for the area (Pico-Union). This place isn't great. While it is extremely cheap, which is great, my first time here wasn't great. The guy was cutting my cuticles and clipped to deep, which bled. It hurt and he put a small piece of cotton ball with alcohol on it, but it was just as if nothing happened. No remorse, and even a chuckle after he finished applying nail polish. I recently moved out to the Hollywood, Los Angeles area and have been looking for a new nail shop. I found this place on Yelp and was OVERALL pleased. Parking was horrible but once I got in I was content. I wasn't greeted immediately until the guy HENRY walked in. He didn't know what I wanted just told me have a seat and began taking tools out. So once I explained what I wanted, we started (in which I came for acrylic on my nails he did it wrong so I switched to a natural short full set $17). I tried making conversation with him as u normally would do in a shop but it didn't really work. He did my nails nice and neat BUT a nail has broken already (next day). The lady who did my feet I believe was Lee. She did good but wasn't to nice either about doing it. 2 days later after I'm still in pain and looks as if it's infected ...the nail tech seriously shouldn't be practicing..I really felt like she didn't want to be working .. literally the bare minimum. Like she wants to see you in pain.. after she cut me the first little times wasn't so deep .. and when I flinch when laughed .. I will give her the benefit of the doubt .. but when she cut my toe, twisted the nail and pulled it out and literally laid the torn nail on the toe she pulled it out of.. I told her "no more cutting!" .. and let her finish the pedi.. 5 mins of the bare minimum.. barely anything after ... she put one coat of clear nail polish... and handed me the bill...ish hit the fan after I said "that's it"?... she went off.. I guess she didn't think I was not gonna pay my bill .. look I pay for services.. good or bad .. but at least apologize for your mistake .. own to it..instead of blaming the customer. 3.5 stars! This is the perfect nail salon when you have no time, no money and just need to get your digits polished so you look like your life isn't falling apart. As I had a major work event finally approaching after months of hard planning, I barely had any time in the last two weeks before the event to get a manicure and pedicure for my bare fingernails and long-chipped-ago toes...but I had to squeeze this in in order to look professional for the event. I was able to call and get in right away -- not busy on a Wednesday night -- and got a no-frills mani and pedi for $20. Twenty dollars! They had massaging spa chairs (yay) but no spa foot bath (boo, but did you see the price?). They used a plastic lined tub for your feet, which is not how I usually like to roll for nail salons, but at least it was sanitary. If you want just the pedicure it's $13, and the manicure alone is $8. Doesn't get cheaper than that! It's near USC campus so i would definitely go here if I were a student to save money. They have very few polish color choices and a lot of the bottles were really old. They could definitely replace them with a lot of new ones. read more

I don't get my nails done on a regular basis. But my boyfriend said had treat me to a pedicure. I didn't want him to spend an arm and a leg. I think most places around this area is overpriced because they know all the USC girls got moneyyyyy. Or you go somewhere cheap and the facilities are dirty/unhygienic. However, this place is clean and the staff is nice. I walked in and no one greeted me. I'm okay with that as I can see they don't have very much staff and are busy with clients. The only thing that worries me is if they would remember my place in line. They did, so don't be alarmed! I had Vivi do my pedicure with gel. Total was 25 which is not bad for gel. Sitting in the spa chair getting a pedicure. Worst experience of my life in a nail salon! The gentleman is not very communicative. He just pushes my feet and taps on them when he wants me to put them in the water. He asked if I wanted callus remover and I agreed because my feet were in pretty bad shape. He put on a solution and my left foot started burning almost instantly. I told him that it was burning and he just kept working. I said it again and he still ignored me. I said it again with the same result. I then said it louder to the other people working and they barely looked up! I then asked if they were not understanding that my foot was burning! He then huffed and sighed as he finally paid me some attention and began speaking in his native language. Not sure what was said, but he finally began rinsing the solution off my foot. He then proceeded to spray my foot with what turned out to be alcohol, which burned even more! I WILL NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!!! Most rational people would have rendered aid immediately to a customer who is expressing distress! This is totally unacceptable! Warnings for mentions of blood and other nail related things that might gross people out. One star off for: hygiene, customer service, nail job, and condition of the shop. Hygiene. This place is not your high end nail spa. Your feet are washed in plastic little tubs that you can get at Walmart for like five bucks, lined with a plastic bag on the inside. The chairs that you sit in are "spa" couches, but I was only able to get mine to work for a total of five minutes before it shut off and wouldn't turn on again no matter how many buttons I pressed. It became uncomfortable to sit because the massage things in the chair were pressing into my back. Ugh. I sat for almost 30 minutes on my phone because they were too busy with people (and by busy I mean like maybe 7 other customers--should not be a heavy lift). By that time I had already perused every nail color they had, which is not that many. The pickings are limited, and also the lacquers are not high end, they are cheaper brands. Finally when one of the salon workers started my pedicure he didn't speak English, which doesn't bother me, except for the fact that he thought a new blister on my pinky toe was actually a callous and started clipping away at it, even though I told him to stop. Ouch!!! Additionally all of the nail salon workers shouted to each other in really loud Vietnamese. Again, I am an Asian woman, I'm no stranger to Asian culture, but none of the workers even attempted to engage in conversation with any of their clients, as if we were just mannequin hands there for them to decorate. Talk about bad customer service. At this point I have been in the shop for almost an hour. I don't get my nails done often (maybe once or twice a year), but I can't remember another experience I've had where it's taken that long to do a mani/pedi. We get to the manicure. It's a different man than the one that did my pedicure, and luckily he speaks english. "You have very sensitive cuticles" he says. How did he know that if he hadn't even met me before? I assume it's because the guy who did my pedicure had basically done the equivalent of shit talk about me in Vietnamese to his fellow workers. Not cool. Best part of all is as he is clipping my cuticles he cuts too deep and my finger starts bleeding. And not like a cute little cut, I mean, it looks like he's torn a chunk out of my finger (photo is attached to this review). Now the blister on my toe is throbbing and blood is coming out of my finger. I am not gonna leave this place unscathed. To his credit he does a decent job with my nails. He even asks me a question about myself--"you speak?" I say "I speak mandarin" and he says he doesn't know it. My nails are dried in a little OPI pod that has been stained with old nail polish from previous users. Additionally, they don't sterilize the tools in between uses, so whoever gets their cuticles clipped next will probably get some of my blood on their fingers--literally. So, two hours later, I walk out with a bleeding cuticle, a bad mood, and 35 dollars less in my wallet. Overall, despite the cheap price, I would suggest you to take your business elsewhere. read more

This place is disgusting and the tools are not clean. I called ahead for a mani pedi with callous removal. The guy doing my feet was so rough! He made me jump multiple times while clipping my nails. When he put the callous remover on, he kept making me flex my feet, causing my shins to hit the barrier (that hurt), then he went way too hard with a cheese grater thing. I told him to go easy but he didn't give a damn. He went harder! When I asked him to stop, he finished the job with a very used pumice. After a "massage" that consisted of fisting my feet, he put a way too thick layer of polish that looked like a child did it. My feet were in pain! He scrubbed so hard, the balls of my feet were red and almost bleeding. To make matters worse, the spot that needed scrubbing on the heels were completely untouched. Seriously. When I mentioned it, he got defensive and his boss came to help. They removed the chunky polish and reapplied. I went for my mani to a different person. While I was getting the manicure done the pedicure guy was staring me down and made me so uncomfortable. While getting a mani, I noticed she didn't open the sanitized cover for the tools the way it's supposed to be opened and instead of throwing the paper away, she placed it in a neat stack with many others. I doubt these tools are getting sanitized and are reusing ppe to save costs. I don't know why but I let her do my cuticles and wasnt impressed. She also made me jump (I usually never do) with how deep she was going. She was adamant about showing me how much cuticle she took off which was awkward. When I looked at my hands I was shocked to see how uneven and short she made my nails. Before she could paint my nails, I paid and left. They laughed at me on my way out.
