Kalua Pig, fried noodles, Macaroni Salad
    Rachel G.

I'm super confused by all the terrible reviews for Lani Moku. My sisters and I visited last night and had tasty meals! One of us had the garlic shrimp salad, another had kalua pork with Mac salad and fried noodles, and the other had teriyaki chicken with friend noodles and a salad. The pork was tender and salty, the chicken was sweet and juicy, and the shrimp were fried crispy. The lettuce on the salads was fresh, the fried noodles were savory, and the mac salad was on the money. The portions were all good, reasonable sizes, too. Public House was packed so the wait might have been a bit longer than normal, but probably not more than 25ish minutes. I would certainly return.

First time trying lani moku at the Public House and it's just as great as their Beer Garden location. The garlic chicken is my favorite dish! There is great outdoor seating here too - very fun.

Good food! I cannot find better macaroni salad than at a Hawaiian restaurant. It looks like everything is made from scratch.

Hour & a half wait, for cold tacos. The other food carts at Public House provide much better options.

I can't say anyone stands out but that's because I also don't know anyone's name! I see the same people usually every time and it's fantastic. I've also ate inside once and it was a very welcoming and pleasant restaurant to be in. My MIL asked to have her beef cooked well-done and the cashier replied that their beef is pre-cooked? So that was a little unsettling. I think the off putting part about this place was that everything felt sticky. The floor. The counter of the beverage machine. The trash can. And the bathroom had a definite funk to it...like, it smelled like it used to be a Subway (if that makes sense). The food wasn't necessarily enough to make me want to go running back.

Cute and casual spot with picnic tables and booths inside. They had Bob Ross painting on TV. I got the mixed place so I could try two things and I got the lava chicken and garlic shrimp. The lava chicken was just spicy enough and the garlic shrimp was plump and delicious. Their mac salad offered a nice balance to the spicy chicken. My only critique of my entire experience was that the rice under my shrimp was a tad greasy and they could have drained the shrimp a little better? My husband got the ribs. They had great flavor and the coconut-lime slaw was fascinating. I expected it to have some coconut in it or something for the coconut flavor but there was actually coconut milk in the dressing and it made for a nice palate cleanser after the spicy and savory ribs and noodles. This place is pretty far from us but it was worth the drive across town and I want to try more things on their menu next time. We'll be back!

One of our good friends is Hawaiian and therefore quite opinionated on the subject. Finding authentic and delicious Hawaiian food is a legit challenge. We walked up to the truck and were immediately greeted by the cashier. He was friendly and helpful. The first thing I noticed was his accent. He sounded exactly like the Hawaiian friend I mentioned earlier. So I thought this was a good sign. Both him and the other employee who gave us our food were super friendly and kind. That vibe and energy always makes me smile. My husband ordered the garlic chicken and I ordered teriyaki beef. They only had three options on the menu, and the third being pulled pork. Both plates came with rice and macaroni salad. Everything was delicious. Portions seemed a tad small for the price, but I really didn't care. I was full, and it was delicious. I text our friend about this business, and he said it is hands down THE best Hawaiian food in town. Which I definitely agree with. It is a small family run business, and I love it. Our friend said they've scaled back to only doing events like the spring game where we found them and catering, which makes me super sad. Because I would totally go out of my way to visit them and eat there again. I'd become a regular real quick. Despite the fact they only do events and catering, if you find them at an event you're attending, give them a try! It is so worth it. You'll thank me, I promise. Review 29 of 2025.

The decor feels arbitrary and hasn't grown in the 3 years between my visits. The bartop is tiny despite plenty of wide open space in the venue, adding to that empty feeling. But it's the only tiki bar for miles and it has a unique tiki + horror theme that I appreciate: emphasizing creepy mugs, playing vintage Godzilla on the TV, and a collection of drinks named after monsters. They also have custom mugs for sale, which is always awesome to see. My partner enjoyed her Chinese Mai Tai, but my Bride of Frankenstein tasted like light cream. The service was good. They were professional and personable and bantered well with everyone around the bar. There seemed to be plenty of regulars making the rounds in the early afternoon. So if you're in Eugene and want a tiki drink, this is the place to go.

Visited Oakshire to get some food and found this Hawaiian truck we hadn't tried yet…read more We were excited to see a menu that was a little different from the other 2 Hawaiian trucks in town and a very reasonable price ($15 got 2 scoops of rice, slaw or Mac salad and a huge portion of the main protein). I tried the Cod Katsu plate because I have never seen a fish katsu before and was intrigued. This was a VERY good dish. The Katsu crust was super crunchy and held up well to the deliciously spicy katsu sauce and the juice from the slaw without ever getting soggy. The fish was nice and juicy and cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough katsu sauce and I had to request more. My wife tried the Pork Bulgogi plate. It was very flavorful and tasty but the meat was so full of fat and gristle it was hard to eat. She tossed half the meat, that's why I took off the 5th star from this review.
