There's mostly just one big room and one small side room. You could easily comb the entire place in 30 minutes. Off to another side, there is a gift shop with lots of handmade crafts (like wooden carvings, jewelry, and pottery) from local artists and art prints for sale. There is a new exhibition every month with opening night the first Friday of each month. They also offer lots of cool art classes for adults and children. I am already planning my next visit :)

did not expect to be as into this as I am but Good Dirt Pottery Studio has become my favorite thing…read moreI've discovered this year. went with a friend on a whim for a wheel throwing class and we were both completely hooked by the end of it. the instructor was patient and encouraging without making you feel like you were being babysat. there's something genuinely meditative about having your hands in clay for two hours and walking away with something you actually made. the studio itself is beautiful. bright, clean, thoughtfully designed. it photographs really well but it also just feels good to be in, which matters when you're trying to be creative. they do classes, open studio time, summer camps for kids, memberships if you want to go regularly. the options make it accessible whether you want to try it once or actually commit to learning the craft. Bullard Ave location is easy, parking is fine, and the staff is genuinely warm every time I've been in. Fresno honestly needed a place like this. somewhere to go that isn't a restaurant or a bar, that's actually good for your brain, and that you leave feeling proud of yourself. Good Dirt is that place. already signed up to go back.

We recently visited Good Dirt Pottery for the first time last month because my son wanted to paint…read morea ceramic piece, and we had a great experience overall! They offer both ceramic painting and pottery-making classes, and I'd love to return to try a pottery class. The only downside is that classes aren't on weekends and are held on weekday evenings for a few hours, which can be a bit hard to fit into our schedule. They had a nice variety of pieces to choose from. There's a $10 studio fee per painter plus the cost of the item. You pay for your piece first, then select colors and follow their painting instructions. My husband joined me and my son he didn't paint so was not charged a fee. The studio is about a 25-30 minute drive from Clovis, so it was a bit of a drive, but worth it for a fun, different activity together. I didn't realize beforehand that painted ceramics typically take about six weeks to be ready, though it makes sense since they also fire pottery and may have limited kiln space. Ours were actually ready in about three weeks, which was a great turnaround. Pickup was easy--they quickly located our items on a rack using the name slip attached. They didn't have the items wrapped either. One small thing I wish I had known is that they write your name and the date on the bottom of the finished piece. The ceramic I painted was a gift for my son, so I would have preferred not to have my name on it. If I had known, I would have asked about other options. Overall, the staff member who helped us choose our piece and paint colors was very friendly and helpful, making our first visit enjoyable. We'll definitely be back--especially to try one of their pottery classes!

Gave my family a special class, stayed longer than the two hours planned, fed us treats and did a great job instructing us. She is a great teacher and also has lots and lots of choices of beautiful paintings to choose from. We are all looking forward to going there again. I've been dabbling in ceramics on and off (mostly off) for close to 20 years, so it felt amazing…read moregetting my hands back into some clay. I hosted an event with Scarab Creative Arts last year, which is where I met Hannah, of Rose ceramics. She's teaches pottery classes here and she's also an amazing artist herself. I signed up for the six-week intermediate classes from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The cost is $275 and includes everything; clay, supplies, and all firings. All you need to bring is an apron and an open mind. The class style here is free from; just get your clay and go. Hannah walks around and checks in on your progress and helps with anything you need. If you've never sat in front of pottery wheel, I highly recommend taking the beginner class for more of teacher/student model set up. There are other classes offered here beyond pottery like painting, stained glass artistry, and even a few classes for kids. They do host events from time to time in their gallery and have a gift shop where you can try to sell your pieces. I'm excited to see what the future has in store for me when it comes to my pottery. I might just end up becoming a member here!
