I was referred to Dr. Lang to have an extraction and implant by my great dentist at Healthy Smiles Dentistry. I worried for a couple of weeks about how bad this was going to be. I guess I was comparing it to a root canal in another state from 20 years ago that was horrific. I worried for no reason. I know little to nothing about dentistry yet I did attend medical school and designed a lot of medical equipment, so I know quite a bit about medical procedures. Dr. Lang made the experience very easy and no pain at all after the injection. It was clear he took his time and didn't rush anything, while always making sure I was comfortable and ok. I also especially liked his pleasant demeanor and communication to let me know not only what was going on, but also what was about to happen and what I might feel, so it would not be a surprise. Then there was his other general communication off topic of dentistry. And what other doctor will ever call you on the phone after a surgical procedure to see how you are doing? NONE, except Dr. Lang. I put him at the top of every Doc I've seen over the last 50 years !!! As a side note regarding a couple other reviews. It is interesting that a couple people say Dr. Lang is fabulous yet give the practice low marks based on an unpleasant interaction with a staff member. Hey folks, you aren't reviewing a burger joint. Your rating for a business like this is supposed to be about the main person, the doctor. It is a bit ridiculous to rate a practice based on the front staff that might come and go over time and get replaced. This dentist should not have preformed a gum graft on my tooth that was killing me, he should have recommending I see my regular dentist. The root was exposed. It should have been pulled and an implant put in.... Another implant. The hygienist, Tanya, her hands are shot... locked fingers which she has had to have surgery for. The relies on just using a cavitron. I have asked her each time to PLEASE DO HAND SCALING as someone with the extensive amount of dental implants, bone grafts and sinus lifts and all my teeth are now caps... you can not feel if there is ANYTHING going on under the margin of the tooth and gum line with a cavitron. I told Tanya twice my tooth hurts in the back and she never called in the doctor which is why I wanted to have a pero office hygienist do my cleaning due to the volume of dental work I have. Anyway long story short.... His front office receptionist tried to first tell me I did not change all my other scheduled hygiene appointments with the other hygienist and then she tried to tell me that I was not a pero patient, meaning deep root cleanings and I should ask my brother what a pero patient is as he is a dentist 6-7 hours away. I do not need a rude uneducated front office receptionist by the name of Gina, telling me I am not a periodontist patient, having just moved from New York City and having the best Periodontist doctors, Dr. Bart and Lauren Langer work on my teeth these past 20 plus years. Gina was exceptionally rude, the doctor should have never performed the gum graft in the first place so it was a was of $1300 My finding and awareness is when a dentist reaches a certain age, they go for the money and with Covid it is hard to sell your dental practice as the new dentist wants to see the last 3+ years of income and with covid it make that hard to do. Anyway long story short... I CANCELLED all my future appointments a couple of days laters as I was so upset by the way that Gina treated me. She is rude, uneducated and unqualified to made a dental diagnosis by telling me I am not a Periodontist patient, and Tanya should have had the doctor come in and look at the back molar, where the gum recessed there was decay and the root was expose causing my pain. LAZY. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST AT ALL. SO RUN! FIND ANOTHER DENTIST THIS OFFICE IS GOING FOR THE MONEY. read more

I saw Dr. Lang about one year ago. I thought I needed a mucogingival graft on my lower front two teeth ( gum graft ). Dr. Lang said I needed a mucogingival graft on those two lower front two teeth. He further told me I had ZERO attached gum. The recommended amount is THREE millimeters..... The Dentist who gave me Dr. Langs' name didn't think I needed to see a specialist ..... constituting "supervised neglect" and "standard of care." I've have 35 years practicing as a Dental Hygienist, so I do know about referring a patient to a specialist..... I went to see my former employer, who is a Periodontist. He told me I needed a "frenectomy" (clipping the attachment located inside the lower lip ...that attaches to the front of the gum... in between the lower front two teeth). I was further told that if I had had Dr. Lang do the mucogingival graft that the frenectomy COULDN'T be done..... My former employer didn't charge me ....in case you're wondering if he added on extra treatment to bring in more daily production....not. I called this office to let the front desk know I would not be scheduling and why. I never received a call from Dr. Lang. That tells me a whole lot.... I would definitely suggest a second opinion on any/all treatment Dr. Lang recommends. read more

I won't say getting a tooth pulled and an implant screwed into my jaw was "a pleasure", but working with the friendly and professional staff at Dr. Lang's office certainly was. Dr. Lang himself was a breath of fresh air. I never felt rushed through the process. Dr. Lang made sure I was as comfortable as possible and that everything was done perfectly. I was referred to Dr. Lang by my dentist at Healthy Smiles. Healthy Smiles is a fantastic place and always go over my charges with me prior to my visits. I had a tooth that had become an issue and needed to be removed. Dr. Choi decided it would need a periodontist to remove my tooth, so he referred me to Dr. Lang's office. Now, please understand Dr. Lang is a wonderful man and a true talent at his job. His problem is the way his administrative side is ran. Before I came in to have my tooth removed I called first to ask about Insurance. The lady on the phone was very short with me and told me there are fees ranging in the 400 area for an extraction. I told her I have insurance, and she said she had no way of knowing about my insurance. I told her I need to schedule time off work so will the tooth extraction happen the same day and she confirmed yes. I asked for the time off work and headed up there to have my tooth removed. Against my better judgement I still went to the appointment even though my gut told me not to. I wish I listened to my gut. I go into the office where I have an x-ray that they tell me will not be covered under my insurance, but I need it anyway. At this point, I thought ok, 400 bucks I can handle that. Not sure what to do since my dentist referred me and here I am; I needed the tooth out it was hurting. After the X-Ray, Dr. Lang showed me to the door. I told him I was informed this was happening today and nobody knew who told me this would be out the same day. I got really upset as I had requested the day off for this procedure. Dr. Lang squeezed me in right then and apologized for the misunderstanding. After the X-Ray, I am sitting in the chair waiting for the Novocain to kick in with the apron over me and all that. One of the front desk girls asks me for a payment of 280.00 at that time. I thought ok if that's what this costs then I guess I lucked out. I made that payment then. When I came to get my stitches out the lady at the front gave me the insurance codes (shouldn't this have been done before anything?). I knew some things wouldn't be covered but I was not sure what would come my way in terms of a bill because nobody at the office knew either. A couple weeks later I get a bill for 1168.00. I called insurance, and they confirmed the bill was correct. I said ok. I was frustrated but called Dr. Lang's office and set up payment for 200 a month. After my first 200.00 payment, I receive a bill telling me insurance is going to pay 345.00 of it and my remaining balance is 623.00. I called to make my second payment today and was on the phone for a total of 25 minutes while his front desk tried to explain the bill to me. I was told that since the bill I received said "Statement of Services Rendered" that I should know that bill is not real and only a "guess" as I was told. The statement literally said "Please pay 623.00" when my real balance was 968.00. From my basic high school education, I thought "Services Rendered" meant what services were performed on me. According to the phone call, she told me the only way I will know my true bill was to call them. I told her I believe this is unprofessional to send me an incorrect bill. All the prices and numbers she was quoting to me on the phone were different than the prices on my bill. All I can do at this point is pay them and learn my lesson. Dr. Lang is a great man, but going through all of this is not worth it. If you plan on having any services here please understand the front desk will not help you figure out any pricing at all. At the most they will give you the codes to call insurance. There are other offices in town who may be more helpful. Please keep in mind this office was this confused when I had my procedure in May and it is now September and they still were not clear on everything. I must admit I was naïve because at Healthy Smiles, they always go above and beyond to show me what I will be paying, and they draw up plans for my next 6 visits and what it will cost. Naively, I thought this office would be the same, but it is entirely up to the patient to figure out what you will pay. Not only that but the constant incorrect bills being mailed out and the confusion with the front desk staff about insurance is crazy. I have never had such a frustrating and confusing experience with a dental office. Please take great consideration before choosing this office and please do your research. I am writing this out to try and save someone the frustration and confusion I have went though. Edit: The two women I spoke to were Wendy and Rosie. AMAZING OFFICE! I had a cleaning about a month ago with Catherine and she was one of the best hygienists I've ever had. She made me feel comfortable and cleaned my teeth very well. The whole front desk staff, I adore. From the dental assistants to the ladies up front. Gina and Wendy are so accommodating and friendly. I've had several interactions with Dr.Lang as well and he is very wholesome and humorous. I will definitely be back again for my regular cleanings. :) read more

Both my husband and I have been referred to Dr. Lang's practice over the past decade by dentists who are well known by long time residents. My husband has had two implants with Dr. Lang and I am in the process of having my first. The evening of each of our dental surgeries, Dr. Lang personally has called to see how the operation is proceeding and to see if there are any other needs (pain, etc.) that he can be of help . What doctor in any medical discipline does that? Dr. Lang takes time with answering questions, is understandable, clear and truly shows that he really cares. His equipment is the best in periodontics, his offices are super clean and his staff is amazing in their diverse personalities. Dr. Lang is a master of his talent and can match or surpass anybody in his field. If you ever need the best and have the need of his services, go to him before he decides to retire! 5 Stars? I have seen Dr Lang for over 10 years now but today he saw my daughter for the first time and as usual he was awesome. He has a wonderful bedside manner, is very caring and gentle but is also very knowledgeable. She went in for a deep cleaning, which requires novocaine, but he ended up also doing an extraction, even though she wasn't scheduled for it. He took extra care in doing so and made sure he had gotten all of the broken tooth. His dental hygienist was so great. She alleviated her stress and fear even though her part was done after doing the cleaning, she stayed with her until the extraction was done. Wendy at the front desk is also great. She's so kind and helpful and always has a smile. If you need any work that requires a periodontist, I would highly recommended Dr Lang. read more

I drove 100+ miles to see Doctor Lang because I know oral surgery is not something you want to take lightly of. An incompetent oral surgeon can mean 20 years of nuisance or a lifetime of pain. In this regard, Dr. Lang is simply fantastic. Nothing else to add. If you want the best, here is the best. Period. As to the insurance handling, I don't have any issues. But these things usually depends more on the insurance carrier than the provider. As to the administrative staff, I don't see the over-the-top nice greetings I usually see at other dentist offices. But after a few visits, I find them just as helpful and respectful, if not better. But afterall, to me, all these are inconsequential if you consider how important an oral surgery is and how good Dr Lang is. read more

I needed an implant in the front of my mouth. Dr Lang was recommended by my dentist which I have been going to for over 30 years, so trust his recommendations. I was warmly greeted by the front office girls. I was informed of the cost up front, so knew what it would cost. Dr. Lang and his assistants were very careful and concerned about my comfort throughout the procedure. I trust him so much I am having another implant. So, despite the really negative reviews I decided to go to Dr. Lang because my current dentist recommended him. Having checked Yelp I was prepared to be treated poorly and overcharged. But neither of those things happened. From calling to make the appointment to my 3 visits to the office, the front desk and back of the house staff have been great. Polite, helpful, and caring. They have worked with my schedule and been quite accommodating. Upon my first visit, I was given the complete breakdown of what I would pay if my insurance didn't cover the service and the terms in which I would have to pay that amount. It was a lot and quite the sticker shock. I think if I had shopped around I could have paid less but there's peace of mind in going to a place that's been recommended by your trusted dentist. Dr. Lang is super personable and quite good at what he does. I am very happy with my decision to go to Dr. Lang. read more

Dr. Lang is absolutely wonderful. Too bad some of the girls that work for him are rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. I highly recommend Dr. Lang, but highly advise you try and stay away from Rosie and Wendy. I am sad to lose Dr.Lang, but I just can't stand to go back there. That's how awful those girls were.
