Lane Southern Orchards will forever be one of our family's favorite pit stops! I've been coming here since I was a kid and now it's become a yearly tradition for our family. We literally drove 1.5 hours out of our way just to stop for the peach cobbler and it was 100% worth it! The peach cobbler with peach ice cream AND butter pecan, and OMG... SO GOOD. The warm cobbler with that creamy ice cream is just unbeatable. The girls were so sweet about our indecisiveness. The place is growing and still manages to feel like a warm family spot! There's something so special about coming back to a childhood favorite year after year. No matter how far out of the way it is, if we're anywhere remotely close, Lane's is a MUST stop for our family! Visiting GA and was brought to this place to prove that GA's peaches are the best. The store, with a restaurant, is spacious, simple and clean. Tried their peach ice cream and sure, it is good. Got the Peach Fritter and Pecan Brownie. The sweetness is perfect (not for the sweet tooth) and would have been great with coffee. Got some preserves and fresh peaches for breakfast. read more

Stop it right now! I mean stop the car if your in this area! So I walked in about 11:00am and find out the one things I knew I wanted, wine couldn't be served until 12:30pm on a Sunday! Sooo I found other items I need! Peach candle; done Exfoliator peach scrubs; done Peach cobbler mix: done Peaches in a cane; done Truffle salt; what, yes; done It was a great day! Everything shipped to my house for free within a week, done! It was that and pack it around the airport and then pay for checking it! Nope!!! everyone was soo nice when I checked it! Most people who go there are locals or families families who go there which was cool! They even have a restaurant that you can have breakfast at, I didn't but most did! You can pick strawberries for a fee, fill up the cart and then take them home! Love this idea I was very happy with my experience there! Never ever go here for lunch/dinner. Spent 45 mins waiting to order, then spent another hour waiting for our food. Add to that we were losing over half our items. When asking management what's taking so long them simply said oh we've started running out. No one seemed to care as every other family was forced to wait 45 mins to an hour for their food. Let's just add that once we got our food it was worse than McDonalds. My whole family wishes we woulda just gone home for a ham sandwich. NEVER EVER EAT HERE!!! Yesterday the Hub and I ventured down to middle Georgia to visit family and to pick up some peaches. We drove down I-75 about 30 minutes from Macon to the middle of bumble**ck nowhere. There was nothing but pecan groves and corn as far the eye could see. After steering a right off the interstate we drove about 10 miles to a huge pavilion that housed the Lane Packing Company's Boxing Factory and Store. There were a LOT of people there. Enough so that a police officer had to coordinate traffic in and out of the place. First we toured the factory where the peaches are unloaded from picking, cleaned, and sorted into boxes. There was a platform above where you could walk and watch as you please. At the front end of the store there are smaller specialty sections- a fudge shop, bakery, canned goods section, local veggie section, and of course the peach area. They offer 16 variety of peaches (I had no idea there were that many). We picked up a bushel of peaches, some elderberry jam, and frozen peach cobbler. The best part is that there is a restaurant and desserts area to the right of the store there they offer their own homemade peach ice cream. Gosh it was wonderful. We got two quarts and some dry ice to bring home. :) Highly recommend this place, but all the SUVs and strollers take two stars off. read more

We love Lane Packing! Every time I have out of town visitors, I take them to Lane's. It is a great adventure for people who have not seen peaches and pecans. It is a beautiful drive. The store section of the store is amazingly large filled with all things peaches, southern and humorous. Treating our guests to REAL peach ice cream is very rewarding... I have been coming to Lane Packing now for 15 years, and have seen this place grow from a fruit stand to this local attraction that has so many vistors around the world to visit and eat some of the best tasting fresh Georgia Peaches has to offer. Every year Lane Packing does a amazing Corn Maze just right next to the packing shed, each year there is a different logo in the maze. This year it's the BUDDY WALK. Every year it's amazing the amount of travelers that come out and stop by to walk the maze. If you walk inside the packing shed there is gift shop and restaurant. What a great place to visit and it's just off the exit a few miles going into town. read more

Though my visit here was not altogether perfect, how can you argue with anyplace that delivers mounds of soft serve peach ice cream? Really? We're going to complain about that? No, we are not. This is an oasis a few miles west of Interstate 75 amidst rural fields of pecan trees, peach trees and corn/cotton/soybean fields. The place is mostly a restaurant and gift shop that draws tourists and bus loads of hungry patrons, but they also really do pack produce here when those crops are in season. The peach processing line in the back of the main building is interesting to watch when it's operating. The restaurant mostly offers sandwiches, soups and salads. I had a classic club, which was tasty enough but it completely fell apart. The bread slices were too small to be cut into quarters and hold the many-layered contents. I ended up with about 7 mangled sections, picking the droppings off the plate with my fingers. The bread tasted good (toasted and buttered), and all of the ingredients were fresh, but the sandwich needs to be re-engineered. Too messy to eat in any sort of socially graceful way. To avoid going through the line a second time, I ordered my peach ice cream when I ordered the sandwich. I was hungry, so I ordered a large cup of ice cream, but that is too much if you are also going to have a sandwich. One or the other; not both. A small ice cream would have been better, and I saw lots of people eating cones of ice cream, which looked to be about the right quantity. The rocking chairs out front are perfect places to enjoy the breeze -- if there is one and it's not too humid (say July or August). Not great food, just good, in an interesting setting for young and old. Enjoyable all the way around. read more

Been going to Lane Packing for over 20 years. Have always enjoyed the warm, Southern hospitality, until today. Today after getting a drink of water a loud, obnoxious, rude, tactlessly,and completely unprofessional employee confronted me by yelling across a crowd dining room full of customers grilling me about my drink. When I told her it was water and where I got it she continued to treat me as if I were some child trying to steal a drink. My mistake was believing that vitamin water was the same as water. When I asked her the difference all she said was vitamin water was a paid drink and water was free. I then asked another, more compassionate, and understanding employee to explain the difference between water and vitamin water she couldn't tell me. The woman behind the counter did not set a good example for the other employees who witness this nor were the other 25-30 in the dining room who watched her dress me down in public were not impressed either. My background is a high ranking miltary officer, retired after 30 years of service and having been in combat numerous times. Never did I treat the men and women who served with me like I was treated today. Do something about this or you will loose customers. You have already lost one. I'll never be back! read more

I stop for lunch here quite a bit. The sandwiches are very good along with the varieties of soup they have. I love the peach tea and though I am not much for sweets the peach ice cream is very good. I only stop here to eat but there is much more as they sell all kinds of peach products and foods. If you are passing through you should definitely stop in. read more

We have lived here in Middle Georgia for about 7 years now. It never fails that when family comes down to visit they want to go to Lane's. There isn't a whole lot to do here, so Lane's is a big hit for all of us. They have the best peach ice cream and peaches. They also offer a tour of the farm. This is a must-visit if you have time to check it out. It isn't too far off of I-75. They have a lot of fresh grown crops. The restaurant portion is good, quality food. There is a lot to do here. I enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs watching the cars come in. The peach milkshake was very good. Their prices are fair. I didn't have any issues parking. The retail cashiers could use a bit more help during peak times. They were visibly flustered. read more

So sorry to see that LANE'S has changed into a tourist attraction. The place is more beautiful than ever. But they have forgotten their LOYAL customer base that sustains them throughout the years. The slightly over priced soup and salad bar was the reason we would eat there. But as of today......they no longer offer it. Food is pretty good but pricey for what you get. Hamburger and hotdog and 2 teas was $20.00. We referred many people to this restaurant throughout the years but will no longer do that. Food is not too bad. Yet no side choices with a sandwich unless you pay full price for a side or about 7 for a regular salad. No small side salads to add. Sandwiches served with greasy homemade(?) chips. Beware. Served cold and greasy to us today. It is a unique place to stop by, the bread smells great and the ice cream and peach cobbler is similar as other stops along the way. If you are traveling, this is a nice rest stop. No fast food, chain restaurants or fuel stations at this exit. Peaches will be ready soon. Might be a nice treat. read more

Visited there again recently and was disappointed to say the least. Everything now is like a glorified Cracker Barrel except with a peach theme. $2.50lb for peaches picked right there when you can get their peaches at your local store for at least a dollar a pound cheaper? Don't think so! Cashiers are not friendly and lackadaisical unlike the old days when customers were king. The boys should have kept it the way it was when they were growing up. Peach pies and muffins still rock but they know it and charge accordingly. Will be a long while before I veer off 75 to make the "special" trip. read more

I'm only rating their restaurant here, although they have a lot more to offer. Their restaurant has an all-u-can-eat soup, salad or hot bar or you can get all three for a hefty price. They also have cook to order items. The price of soup and salad bar is a bit high, but the soups are great (shrimp & corn...mmmm) and the salad is always fresh. I never touch the hot bar due to it being typical fatty greasy southern food which just looks like it would clog your arteries. One thing I'm annoyed at is that they now will not give credit for 2 or more meals on their punch card. I told the cashier I would just order separately then to get the two punches and I got a funny look. I mean cmon, a free meal should be in order after paying $20 for 2 people ten times over. Besides that, the place is great, but it can get crowded during peak lunch hour on a Fri or Sat. If you get the peach lemonade, it's delicious, but I think they load it with sugar so you crash hard about 30 minutes later. Be sure and save room for desert because there's peach ice cream and cobbler which are the best I've ever had. read more
