Was told my bunions were very severe and involved 4 bones if the big toe not just the top bone. Told there is no such thing as one size fits all bunion surgery and that if i had no pain the doctor advised against it She also cited all of the things that could be permanently injured as a result of the surgery. She said the procedure by Dr Glass was just "a bandaid". I have since decided on an orthopedic surgeon at some time in the future. All of this to say I'm sadly disappointed in the pedi itself. The office and their associates are wonderful. Friendly and attentive, I had my questions answered and never felt like I was a hassle or a burden. Needless to say, the appointment was more educational than it was an actual MediPedi. Dr. Sha is very friendly and made me smile at first meet with a funny greeting. I was a little cranky since I hadn't eaten but he quickly lifted my spirits. The appointment: We sat and spoke for about 30 mins. I'm so informed and found things out about my feet that I'd never known. It's clear that Dr. Sha loves what he does. One thing I've noticed about the health industry is that they're quick to shove surgery and pills into you. This office doesn't stand on that. The goal is to avoid surgery and to avoid unnecessary means by actually figuring out the cause of the problem and fixing it as best as possible through all alternative avenues. I admire that. But on to the actual service. I'm not sure if it's the fact that it was paid for through Groupon or if this is just the standard here but not too much was done to make me feel a complete difference in my feet. The pedi part took all of about 10-15 mins. For $59, I'm not sure that I'm comfortable with what I got and I'm left wondering if the visit was worth it at all and whether a pedicure at a nail salon with some informational reading would've sufficed. My feet are just as ashy as they were when I walked in although they filed and scraped my problem areas down pretty nicely. I have a feeling that a lot of the negative reviews here are based on a prior practice and staff…read more I hurt my ankle during my lunch hour at work and by the end of the day my ankle was so swollen I could barely walk. I went on my insurance website to see if there were any doctors nearby that I could see last minute. I called two places who could not take me and finally when I called Foot Care of New York and explained the pain I was in, I was told I could come in right away. I hobbled on my swollen ankle two blocks to this office. Those two blocks felt like an eternity. I walked into this office with tears in my eyes from the pain. The receptionists quickly sat me in a patients room and helped me fill out all my forms quickly. Dr LaPuma came right in and was very sympathetic to the pain I was feeling. He did not make me feel like just another patient. He examined my foot and said it would not be worth doing an MRI at that time because the swelling would not allow for a clear view. I thought that was very nice and honest because so many doctors will just do exams so they can charge your insurance. He wrapped up my ankle and showed me how to do it at home and put me in a walking boot and was to return that monday (this was on a friday). I also had instructions on what to do at home to help with the swelling. When I returned and had the MRI and X-Rays done, it was clear that I had torn two ligaments in my ankle. I was in a walking boot for almost 2 months as well as visits twice a week with Dr LaPuma and his staff for therapy. Each time I came here I was immediately in a good mood. The staff is super nice and friendly. Every time I saw Dr. La Puma it was like I was hanging out with a buddy. He always had a smile on his face and each time he would speak to me about the progress of my foot. Even though he is down to earth, he is stern about his medical advice. So many times I begged him to give me clearance to wear heels (I had the VMA's to attend, a vacation coming up, etc) and each time he clearly pointed out the damage it would do to my ankle if I wore heels. He always remembered to ask me if I went behind his back and wore heels (LOL). I am glad I listened to him because my ankle has been feeling GREAT! I will be sad when it's time to stop therapy because coming here is a nice getaway from work. Dr. La Puma is extremely knowledgeable and is very clear about what you need and how to get you better. He will not nickel and dime you and he will not make you do anything other than what is necessary. It's nice to find honest doctors these days!

DO NOT TRUST YOUR FEET WITH THIS DOCTOR!…read more I visited Dr. Del Monte to have a few corns removed from my small toes on both feet. They weren't causing me any pain and it was only a cosmetic concern. At my consultation, he was quick to say I'd need surgery and given all the positive reviews I read on here I trusted him with all my heart and proceeded with the surgery. On the day of the surgery, a nurse asked me during pre-op if I was there for hammertoe surgery. This surprised me, as I had only asked Dr. Del monte to remove a few corns. When I brought it up with him, he explained, 'It's the same thing.' I trusted him and didn't question him any further. During our consultation, Dr. Del Monte had also convinced me to have my bunion removed. He explained that he would use a new procedure called lapiplasty, which involves inserting a metal plate to correct the deformity. He assured me that this technique was much simpler than a traditional bunionectomy and promised a three-month recovery time, with my feet looking great afterward. Fast forward to 8 months post-surgery, I realized that I can no longer curl up my toes like I used to. My toes can now only fan up and down in one direction (like a plastic doll's toes) and they were shortened too (something which I had do never asked him to do). Regarding the lapiplasty portion of the surgery, the recovery was far from the easy experience I was led to expect. It changed the way I walk, requiring me to undergo hours of physical therapy. I even had to have another surgery to remove the plate in hopes of finding relief and improving my gait, but unfortunately, that did not help. Dr. Del Monte downplayed the significance of the surgery and failed to adequately explain what it would entail. His poor clinical judgment has caused me immense pain and depression, to the point where I've been on antidepressant medication for over a year now. I'm only 30 years old and I've never faced as many issues as I have following the surgeries performed by Dr. Del Monte. I no longer enjoy doing yoga and pilates classes as I used to given how stiff and rigid my toes feel. My toes no longer feel natural and I constantly wear socks to avoid seeing the awful scars that have been left behind. I do not recommend getting surgery with Dr. Del Monte. He tried to make money of me and test a metal plate at the expense of costing me my mental and physical wellbeing. Once I addressed these issues with him, he only gaslit me by saying corn removal surgery and hammer toe surgery are the same thing and he constantly downplayed the situation by saying it will get better. I'm now almost 2 years post-surgery and things have not gotten better and I continue to struggle every single day. I even sought a second opinion from another qualified surgeon, who informed me that this surgery should never have been performed in the first place and there is no way to reverse any of it. If anyone is considering this type of bunion surgery, please do not let him talk you into it. I strongly urge you to join the "Lapiplasty before, during, after" Facebook group. There, you can read the experiences of hundreds of patients who, like me, were persuaded to undergo surgery by surgeons more interested in testing their devices than in the well-being of their patients. I have attached before-and-after pictures of my feet for reference. As you can see, I didn't even have a significant bunion; I sought this surgery solely for cosmetic reasons, but I ended up worse off. Doctors are supposed to be healers and take an oath to do no harm. Sadly this doctor did the opposite and I regret going to him with all my heart.

When I called to make a follow up appointment the receptionist said the doctor would be out of the office for over two weeks, mind you I can't walk right now until he sees me again. Then a few days later I find an appointment with a different doctor in that office and book it. When I show up no one is there and they don't answer the phone for 20 minutes where I finally connect with someone she stella me that the doctor decided he wanted to leave early for the day and I could come back another time if I wanted.

I decided to give this place a try despite all the negative reviews and to me it was all BULLSHIT . I am a big reviewer, and I believe that if there was an issue, the office would do its job to fix it. The Nurses/ Girls that work the front do an amazing job from calling you to remind of you appointments to making you laugh every-time you visit. Love the place. Currently working on my foot problem. Everything takes time.
