If you want your kid to be miserable, this is a great candidate of a school to send them to! Some of the teachers can't teach or are horribly rude or both. For example, I tried teaching my class about a topic once and my classmates said they understood it more than the teacher's "lessons". The principal picks on kids and will not communicate with the gardening club student leader who can't even participate or leave in the club because they cut it without telling her. There's not many teachers I can name off of the top of the head that I know are good teachers but there are some, and the rest either suck or I don't know them or both. I don't know the dean that well but apparently she said "if you get touched inappropriately that's your fault" at one of the behaviour assemblies, but I wasn't there so I can't confirm. There's a lot of kids who think they're cool for being rude and disruptive, but if I was one of their teachers I would want to kill myself, and they do not punish those kids enough. A lot of the staff care more about a good student having their phone out once or being slightly mean to them more than student bullying or assault or mental health. The health teacher who still works here skipped over the mental health unit because it's "not important" and talked mostly about how you should diet as a teen because being skinny good and is the only way to be healthy and drugs being bad. The test scores suck because most of the teachers can't teach or the kids are just bad. The principal horribly mishandled a lock-out by not checking the news before doing a fire drill where we go outside. When there was a threat OUTSIDE of the school, they labelled it as a lockdown (this means the threat is inside of the school) instead of a lock-out (the threat is outside the school but nearby). There were kids in the halls who were locked out of classes and safety basically waiting to die. They don't unlock the bathrooms and tell us to go during transition period or lunch even if our classes are across the whole school and/or we need to eat. This school isn't even safe. There's so many fights here that it's not even shocking to hear there was a fight anymore. I would not recommend this school even if it was to my worst enemy. I wish the good staff better schools to work at, because this school is NOT it. read more

This is such a bad school don't send your child here!! infested with roaches, horrible 8th grade dean so rude and gives you issp and detention for the smallest stuff, the janitors work as the lunch ladies and rarely wear hair caps where i have seen hair in the food. The staff is also rude have no respect for the students whatsoever, teachers will rarely let you use the bathroom, mrs crisp is horrible, rarely clean the bathrooms pee all on the floor and toilet seats, horrible teaching skills for most of the teachers, dean baker grabbed my arm so hard she left a red mark, one of the male teachers also put hands on me and also left a red mark, my mom went up to the school and they did absolutely nothing about it. I currently go to this school and it is terrible. When you are bullied or inappropriately toutched they do nothing and when I complain about it they protect the person who is harassing me. The dresscode sucks and the teachers are unfair to kids with mental illness. Every day i walk down the hall or im in class i focus more on trying to avoid people and not getting harassed more than school work and this has been happening to me from 6th grade to 7th grade and they do nothing. There are very few administrators that are prepared to teach children. As a school you are supposed to have outlets, and teachers the children can communicate with. The dress code is pushed onto girls more then the boys, bullying and harassment happen daily, the students have no say in anything they are told what to do when to do it and not told any further details. And I feel that the 7th and 8th grade dean needs to be stopped. She is very disrespectful toward the kids, constantly telling them to "shut up" or her ultimate catchphrase "Beyyy" in a weird hood rat accent she needs to step up and be an adult because that school is all over the place. Children smoking in bathroom stalls and her solution to this was to close down the bathrooms. It's ok but I've already seen 3 fights one including myself and heard about 7.so it's a ok school for the first month or so. But be on high alert any other time because even your best friend might want to fight you. And they only clean the bathroom in the morning and I once found throw up on the edge of one of the toilets. read more

I am extremely glad that my daughter is leaving after this term. They think it's acceptable to send a girl home because she is wearing leggings, jagging's, or any athletic gear because they are "form fitting"! The jeans they want me to bring her adjust as formfitting but I guess because they're a different material it's OK? Effective never once in the boy home for wearing anything athletic gear. She has a softball game this afternoon and I promise you the uniform that they told her she needs to wear is just as formfitting if not more so than what she was wearing to school today. landmark middle school is not a good school to go to, and I will tell you why. 1: the majority of the staff like the admin in front office is so rude and inconsiderate, and they should be fired. 2: the food here is so nasty it's either falling off the crust still cheese and the chicken nuggets r pink on the inside. 3: from being a student at landmark they worry about girls dress code Waymore than they worry about the boys I would wear ripped jeans I only had holes in my knees and I would get dress coded, but boys would wear ripped jeans where it would be all over their thighs, and they wouldn't even get in trouble.4: Dean Baker and Ms. Chrisp are the worst admin there if you go and ask any of the students they would all have a story about Dean Baker and Miss Chrisp 5: now, I will give credit where credit is due. There are a lot of good teachers in that school, but they are mostly afraid of Dean Baker. Dean baker acts like she's the boss of the school and she can do whatever she wants. 6:I was dress coded once and she sent me to iSsp and then proceeded to tell me to stand up then to tell me sit down and then repeated it like five times and then she wanted to start arguing with me about my pants so I called my parents and they came out to the school and drop me off a new pants that were not dress code worthy. Those pants are jeggings. She then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't go back to class nor could I call my parents again to give me another pair of pants so I told her that she was idiotic and problematic. And then she left the room so I texted my stepmom to come get me and told her what they were doing so my Step Mom came up to the school and tried to get me, but they told her that I was not able to be released and that she should just go home because I was not coming out of school until school was done.7: all they do is yell and compare each grade to the other. My now 15 year old daughter attended Landmark for all 3 years of middle school, and my youngest child is in the 7th grade. Like many schools in Duval, the staff and teachers struggle with a large census of children. Its hard to provide quality with a quantity of I think 1800 students this year and slightly less as many in the years previous. I believe the education provided by teaching staff is decent to good and the school feels safe to me. Yes there are fights, but consider the population vs amount of fights. The hallways are monitorted well and alot of thought is placed into the structure/dynamics of the crowd flow. All this being said, if you were to judge the school by the attitude of the front office, the school would recieve an F. I know that the front office of every school has to deal with alot of frustrated parents and children,.. but that is the stipulation of any customer service job. Voice inflection is venomous, they cut you off mid sentence, and are frequently confrontational. I work in a hospital as a nurse, and if I treated patients the way parents and children are treated by thier front office, I wouldnt last a week. read more
