Just needing to acknowledge and give feedback, ahead of this week's class, that it seemed somewhere in the vein of about 30 minutes of extra material or time was added last week to our Online Masterclass Seminar in London, just to try to get us to talk about Enrolment. And who we were bringing to the seminar as guests, and how the seminar was about bringing guests. In addition to more time, at the end, that was spent on that. Maybe this wasn't the reason. But the seminar ended up being rushed, which is fine.
But then the time for sharing about the material in Breakouts Rooms, in small groups or one on one, during the seminar was cut out completely. And in a way that was rather abrupt.
Which has an effect.
Maybe there was just a lot of material because it is a developmental seminar. But still cutting breakout rooms during the classroom does matter and does have an effect. It may not have been able to be helped. But the relationship to it as if it is not a completely integral part of the seminar, during the sessions when it's scheduled, had an impact.
And this is the time, during the sessions when it's scheduled, that each and every person gets the opportunity to share, which does matter, and make a difference. And affects what people get out of the seminar. And that was cut. And it was related to like it's not something that makes a difference.
The comment was made that we would have the time to "Indulge" about the topic in breakouts rooms, a bit later.
But then sharing in Breakout rooms just didn't happen.
And also, that's not about indulging. It's about processing the material differently and having time out from a very full seminar with a lot of material for each and every person, to say a bit about the material or what we did or didn't do, which is an important opportunity.
Without those chances, the seminar is just a series of Lectures.
Yes, it's about applying the practices between sessions. And yes, there's our small outside groups. And we can and do share in front of the whole big group. But those smaller breakout room shares, during the seminar, while the material or questions are still fresh from the leaders, is an important time.
Sometimes things have to change in the seminar and everything can't get in, but it felt important to say something, so that it is known this is not a time where we just indulge or something, it actually does make a difference. So if it is cut or taken out then, at least the relationship to it can be that it is important and does make a difference. But due to some technical limitation or something else that absolutely can't be helped, maybe it was left out or postponed from the seminar.
It can be hard to bring something like this up too, because then somebody just says something in the area of the Being Here seminar is about being upset, and it sounds as if you're upset, so this is perfect. Which is just a bit of a way of blowing something off, instead of getting it.
The sharing in the Breakout rooms during the session does matter. It has an effect. And it is an important part of the seminar that isn't about "indulging" (something about that seems like it dishonors the whole thing), but that time set aside for breakout rooms, during the session, does actually really have a positive impact and make a difference.
The breakout rooms during the class actually are valuable.
And they really do make a difference. read more
