It was national cinema day on August 27 so every movie ticket was only $4 each. My friend and I bought our tickets online a couple days in advance. The steps for ordering movie tickets on Landmark Cinema's website was very easy. Best part is, unlike Cineplex, they don't charge a booking fee for ordering tickets online. We decided to watch 2 movies in a row that day. About 4.5 hours total of sitting in a theater in a day. The location is great for transit users as it takes only one minute, maybe less to walk from the skytrain station platform to the front entrance of the movie theater. They check tickets right at the entrance doors so make sure to have your tickets ready before you enter if you bought them ahead of time. They have 2 leather couches in the lobby and 2 more in the left lobby if you want to hang out before the movie starts. Unlike Cineplex, the movie name or movie poster at each door is not displayed so you gotta pay attention to the number on the cinema door. Inside, I really like how every chair has a recliner feature and is very spacious in front. Tons of legroom. I was able to get in and out of the theater easily without pushing people's legs out of the way as I moved through the row to the exit. The chairs are extremely comfortable and made of fake leather and even have extra padding as a headrest, you could technically sleep in it. This is in regular seating, not a VIP only feature like Cineplex. The movie sound speaker systems of the cinemas was alright at best. One tip I can give is that if you want the best sound, you gotta sit in the center row and center seats for the best experience. I sat at the very back row center seats and the movie sound felt like the speakers were on the other side of the room. On the downsides, In my second movie viewing, my seat was very worn down and the fake leather has been mostly peeled off. It was still comfortable though. You'd be disappointed if you are a gamer that wants to kill time before a movie or just wants to hang around. They have no video game arcade machines and just a couple claw and prize machine games for entertainment. Metrotown and Marine Drive Cineplexes have at least 4 or 5 video game arcade machines and lots of prize games. The men's washrooms were a little dirty and the paper towels dispensers were all empty. I saw a person trying to pull out the last paper towel from the dispenser but ultimately gave up. Too bad, maybe next time. The movie screen was a little bit dirty so I could see some dust on the screen but it was still tolerable as it didn't worsen my viewing experience too much. Overall, landmark theater's best things are the recliner seats and the massive spacious legroom. It immensely improved my viewing experience as I was comfortable the entire time and being able to sit back is really nice. Love the headrest. The comfy leather padding is like sitting on a cloud. Also, being able to move about during the movie easily without feeling cramped together with other moviegoers is great. During both movies, it was a full house but I didn't feel it. 4 out of 5 stars based on this visit. You can't go wrong with Landmark Cinemas in New Westminster. read more

Friendly staff directed me to the cashiers for a ticket when I was in a hurry to catch the 4pm - The Conjuring: Last Rite. The ticket was $10.25 inc. on a Tuesday. Seats were wide and leather, clean and smelling fresh. The toilets were well maintained. It's a small cinema but comfortable. The sky train was just 3 feet away within the building. This Landmark Cinemas is located very conveniently by a skytrain station which makes it an easy destination for those without a vehicle. We headed here on a Sunday morning and it was very quiet. We ended up upgrading our tickets for a few bucks each to "premiere" seats. These seats had adjustable head rests, wider arm rests, and seat warmers. There were dividers to the sides of the seat for added privacy, a coat hanger, and a little spot for storing bags. I thoroughly enjoyed these seats and would happily get the upgrades again in the future. I had no complaints about the picture or sound quality of the movie and the theater was at a good temperature. read more

After a long absence from theatres, I've visited Landmark no less than three times this week! Their entrance is a bit awkward. If you haven't prepurchased a ticket, you have to squeeze past the staff at the front to get to the kiosks. The machines though are easy enough to use, and before long you've got a ticket in hand and on with the show! The main lobby is your standard fare - your concession on one side, washrooms on another and the theatres on your left and right. Personally I've never been a big supporter of theatre concessions but I will say having shared a popcorn last night, it was tasty, not too greasy and in a pinch I would buy some for a future viewing. Now, the theatres themselves. If you've been here, this is where the magic happens. If you haven't, you really ought to. The seats are super comfy, leather with full recline at the touch of a button. They're well-spaced apart and of course have cupholders at the ready. All of the seats are preselected when you purchase your ticket, so you don't have to worry about sitting in the front row - unless that's your thing. I wouldn't recommend it - I found the sound a bit too loud, but that could just be me. I found the temperature varied a bit during the screenings, but it was never uncomfortable. The trailers weren't too onerous, and the screens are massive. The theatres I've visited this week were all quite small - I think they fit no more than 50 people in each, so it feels a bit like Fifth Avenue Cinemas, which I've been to a lot over the years. I enjoyed my experiences at Landmark so much this week that I bought memberships for myself and my wife, and I would highly recommend you check out this theatre for yourself! read more

Surprisingly good theatre tucked inside a Skytrain station. Parking is free on weekends up the hill. Bit of a workout. There are also pay spots on the nearby streets, as well as the not so cheap lot underneath the station. The location is a bit wonky with some seriously poor signage. The entrance is at the same level of the tracks. Head in from 8th Street (stairs/escalators right at the entrance), walk past the Safeway walking past the 1st set of stairs/escalators, then go up the 2nd set, and all the way to the end. Space must be a premium around here. The entrance is small, but the lobby is quite large. Spacious and well lit. The theatres themselves are located along a long twisty hallway. Not sure if every room is like this, but the one I went to had large comfy electric reclining chairs. There's even enough room for people to walk past even with the ottoman fully extended. The 3D movie I saw was only $14 (January 2020) even with these seats. This would probably be $25 for the equivalent at a Cineplex theatre. We have a new winner. Definitely will be back at some point. I was welcomed with additional fees for booking online and for laser ultra. This is extremely disappointing I purchase the Costco passes as it is "was" the only affordable option for a family of six. You can see a ton of waste and opportunities to make efficiencies in their company to stop off setting the additional cost on to the consumer. I message LM to express my disappointment but was respond to by excuse and corporate greed. We went to a Brand new movie and the theater wasn't even sold out (lost revenue). use your money wisely; spread your money around to other theaters or reduce your visits maybe they will get the point. Theater wasnt even clean between movies very well; I have to dig popcorn out of my seat. I guess a half a billion dollars in annual revenue isn't an enough. The customer is never first anymore. I went here earlier for a free ticket via Google local guides. I was so blown away that Landmark deserves 5 stars from me. *Pros: comfy seats, morning &Tuesday specials and ticket reservation. My ticket price was actually $9.99 for 12:30, and morning price would've been $8.50, SWEET! No need to wait at the box office. No Suzy seat-kicker (this is MY biggest pet peeve at movies) and fewer crowds than Silver City. Washroom was VERY clean. The reclining chair came with a leg room, and I felt very like watching movie at home. It must've been the sofa chair and I wish I had my blanket lol. *Cons: smaller selection than Silver City. Less seating spaces (suitable for 20+ people in the room) and no AVX (rocker chair) experience here. They don't support Timeplay app here and it must be for Silver City only. Guildford location plays foreign subtitle movies for those who are interested in foreign movies. Low price and comfy reclining chair were FANTASTIC! Invite your friends on Atom app for $5 discount; this promo offers additional discount for frugal folks. Definitely two thumbs up from me. read more

When my husband and I see a movie, we usually go to the theater at Metrotown, as it's the closest theater to us, as well as accessible by skytrain. My husband, a couple of friends, and I wanted to see Joker (really good movie, by the way) however, it wasn't playing at Metrotown on the particular night we were going, so we went to the theater in New Westminster instead. Well, after that night, I won't be back at Metrotown, unless the movie we want to see isn't playing at New West. First of all, the seats. Wow -- it was like flying first class. (I flew first class on my way back from Burma after some woman dropped an object approximately the shape, size, and weight of a bowling ball on my head and neck, and was moved to first class after I freaked the fuck out.) All the seats were recliner armchairs, and while I don't care to recline and lean back during movies (in fact, I hate the seats at Metrotown that lean back awkwardly, giving zero back support), these seats didn't lean back at an uncomfortable angle, but a foot rest popped out so that one could fully recline, if desired, or sit up comfortably. However, I prefer to curl up in my seat, and these seats gave plenty of room to do that. The seats were organized in units of two, with an arm rest between them that could be lowered to separate the seats, or remain up if you wanted to cuddle. Also, there was a lot of space between aisles to allow for the foot rests, so there was no way that people behind you could kick your seat or rest their nasty feet on top of your head. (I can't believe people do this!) Also, because the seats were essentially armchairs with solid backs and sides, you didn't have to worry about your jacket or purse falling to the floor, or awkwardly hold it in your lap. The seats were amazing (and apparently, we weren't in a special theater; all the seats were like this, according to an employee), although they were a little high so that not only did my feet not reach the ground (which doesn't matter, as I like curling up anyway), but my husband had to help me as I had to literally climb into the seat! Second, it was easy purchasing tickets online (we wanted to purchase tickets a couple of days in advance so that we would get good seats; little did we know that ALL seats are good seats). I went to the website, selected the movie and time I wanted, selected the number of tickets, chose my seats, and voila. And I didn't need to sign up for an account -- it was SO easy, a stark contrast to ordering tickets online for a movie at Metrotown. In order to purchase tickets online at Metrotown, you MUST sign up for an account (or use Facebook or other linked accounts); you can't simply purchase tickets as a guest. Second, unless you sign in to your account, you can't see the price of the movie ticket! So if I want to confirm how much a movie ticket is at Metrotown, I can't look it up! That brings me to point #3: the price. I don't recall the price of a basic movie ticket at Metrotown (and I cannot look it up unless I want to create an account), but I swear it is more expensive than the $13.25 (before tax) that I paid for a ticket at New West. Fourth, the location at New West is far superior. There are restaurants and bars right by the theater, making it super convenient to grab a quick bite to eat or a drink before or after the movie. And while there are places to eat *around* Metrotown, they aren't that close to the theater, nor are they very good. And even though New Westminster Station is a little further from our home than Metrotown Station, the New West theater is right at the station, and I'd rather sit on the train for an extra ten minutes than spend ten minutes walking from Metrotown Station to the mall, walk through the mall, and then up some stairs to the theater. In fact, when you factor in the walk from the skytrain station and through the mall to get to the theater, it's probably quicker to get to the New West theater, despite the slightly longer skytrain ride. Out of all the possible places to watch a movie in the Lower Mainland, I've got to hand it to this location of Landmark Cinemas. I've never had any issues with projection, sound, or concession and it's become my preference for all movie nights to visit this location. However... On this occasion, I was disappointed with the seating. With Covid protocols still in place, we found ourselves seated with a group right behind us and with a group that had been able to purchase tickets to sit right next to us. For the group behind us, I find it a little close since all their laughter, sneezes, and coughs had the potential to rain down on us. As for the group beside us, you'd think the system would have been setup to ensure there would be a cushion between each party using one or two seats. If you've been to this theatre, you'd remember that the seats are kinda set up like rows of love seats. If the kind and thoughtful lady didn't find another seat to take, we would have been sharing a love seat. (I'm not sure how my wife and daughter would have felt about that either.) In any case, this doesn't sour my thoughts on this theatre overall. I hope they fix this issue though. It's kind of important. read more

I'm lovin' this new movie theatre located in New Westminster. Landmark Cinemas is located inside the New Westminster Skytrain station. The skytrain actually runs right beside it, but there's a sky-walk if you need to cross over to the other side. The theatre seating isn't as comfortable as Silvercity's, but it's still of great quality. I'm not a fan of the parking lot downstairs and I was confused when trying to park for the first time. It's not very well thought out. Good thing is that your parking is reimbursed though, so remember to keep your movie stubs and parking ticket. read more

On Sunday April 16th I was in your theater #9 for the 3:30pm showing of "Air" When getting back home I noticed my cell phone missing. My friend drove me back to the theater and I was delighted to have my cell phone returned which was a wallet with credit cards, bus pass, etc inside it. When I asked who found it I was told it was the cleaning staff. I was sitting in row C, seat 7-8. Please give my sincere thanks to the person(s) who found my cell phone and turned it into lost property. It was a purple covered phone wall which had my entire contents of daily activity recorded in it. I like this cinema. Conveniently located right by New Westminster skytrain (same level as the gates), it is easy to get here. The hall is clean and the seats are comfortable. It does move but not overly so you will not get your knees hit by the back of the seat in front of you. You can also choose your seats so there is no worry about not sitting together with friends or going early to get your choice seat. It is not a huge cineplex but it is good enough with a decent selection of movies. The washroom is also clean and stocked with TP and paper towels. read more

If you like being disappointed this is the theatre for you. They cancelled the showtime for my show again. This has happened on 3 other occasions. I'm not sure if that's the wisest business strategy. I'm also not sure how this encourages customer loyalty. I'm certainly not feeling the love. I suggest you avoid this venue. I suspect they will be closing when their lease is up. They can't possibly be making enough money if they need to cancel shows to save money. Such a shame they lack the business acumen to attract customers. read more

A theatre where you can actually reserve your seats! What a concept. And I only paid $12 to watch Star Wars in 3D! Theatre has very plush, reclining seats. Sound system was amazing with great staging. Loud yet clear. Every seat has good line of sight, even though guy in front of me was six feet tall. The only downside was the price of the snacks and combos. Seriously? $15 for a pop, popcorn and a snack? That's more than the movie ticket. Good access via skytrain and parking is cheap at $2 for 4 hours if you're watching a movie. Will definitely come again. I will smuggle in some contraband snacks next time. read more

This is a not bad Cinema. Its cheaper than if you went to its competitor. Also you get to pick your seats when you buy the tickets. Of course they don't have a point system here. I have an atom app which comes with a free movie ticket that is about to expire and I came here to use up that one free movie ticket offered by the app. This is not the first time I came to this theater. I think the last movie that I watched here was Harry Potter. I am talking long time ago. So came here on a Tuesday of this week and to my surprise its not busy. I ticket on Tuesday with prepicked seat is $6.75. The theater isn't full at all. We ended up watching War Dog. Popcorn here was pretty delicious here for some reason. Its better than Cineplex popcorn. Seats are wider and more legroom than older Cineplex theaters. Washroom is located in the front of the theater. Location wise of this place is ok. Its attached to the skytrain station. There are parking here. Plenty of parking. read more

It's not a big theatre but it has the most comfortable, spacious reclining seats at normal regular price that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. VIP experience without going to a VIP theatre. The down side is that parking does cost money. read more

I used to love this theatre pre-pandemic but was very disappointed at the lack of cleanliness on a busy Saturday night. Popcorn on the seats, covered the carpet on the entrance and the washrooms were messy. Lots of staff so not sure what the problem was but based on one visit it's really dropped in quality sorry to say. The exit door spring in theatre 8 didn't work so every time someone left there was a bright light shining in unless the person closed it. The reclining chairs and other features are great so I hope they rectify the cleanliness. read more

I had no idea this place even existed! I prefer to take transit most of the time so the fact that it is literally a one minute walk from the New Westminster skytrain platform was a DEFINITE bonus! Everyone loves convenience! I went on a Tuesday so it was $8 for a 3D movie and $5 for a regular movie. I found out later that you can also book online to reserve your seats. When we entered the parkade we were welcome by the blaring noise of the fire alarm. Just about 10 minutes into the movie, the strobe lights came on in the theatre. We were told that some workers were just testing the fire alarm out. The lights continued until the credits started rolling. When we exited, the staff were outside giving away free admissions, because of it. But they expired December 31st and we were there on the 25th. read more

The reclining seats now that's what makes seeing a movie all the more pleasant. This is what watching movies should be like not those tight small chairs one find in many theatres. The general price range it's great but look for matinees where the price gets cheaper. The sound and image quality it's top notch. But the weaker link in this great chain it's the service. Seriously if they payed more attention to that this cinema would be easy 5 stars. The service it's slow, many seem to be sleep walking and when you waiting they often seem to ignore you until they have no other option rather then helping you out. Who manages this people?? This theatre has ultra comfortable leather electric reclining seats and they're nice and wide. I still remember the days when theatres would charge a lot more for these seats, but this theatre doesn't charge an extra premium. I watched the new Mission Impossible movie, and I noticed that the sound system wasn't as good as the sound system when compared to SilverCity movie theatres. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy the movie that much and I had to keep myself from falling asleep on the amazing reclining leather seat. read more

Amazing experience here, this reminds me of Asia. When you get off the skytrain, action is everywhere! Restaurants, small businesses, grocery, and of course the theatre. Different clientele, a bit older, more seniors, which is fine for me, less punks. Gorgeous theatres, super big but steep. Best part is the dimmed lighting to find the aisles, which you can select for no charge. Parking is dirt cheap too, and super safe. The manager even offered to call us back in case he found it later. I love love love this theatre. Reclining seats!The location is great. Skytrain right there. Or if you drive parking is 2$for theatre goers. Popcorn is good and freestyle pop machine is the way to go. Have great flavored water choices too. Oh and hot dogs and I've cream. I use the app Atom and find it great for tickets and concession. This theatre has a special line if you buy your concession through the app. An adults only with alcohol would make this super! But not necessary. read more

I would have to say this for me is very different from going to a Cineplex, even the location, where if you are looking for something transit friendly, you can't get any friendlier than being a part of the station, as in getting off the Skytrain you are practically in the same place without crossing a street. It was odd to walk in here not really knowing where it was, I had to just find a sign stating exactly where it was, but to help you all it is upstairs, just keep going. Coming into the lobby of this theatre I felt like I was transported back to the 90's, it has that old style, small town feel, everything is there, from the separate theatre numbers to the food concessions, everything is close. I pre-bought my tickets online so I had this QR scan code on my phone, and for the movie I had to go into.. all they had to do was scan that code on my phone, unlike Cineplex which makes you print out the tickets... good on you Landmark on saving the paper. Normal concession stuff, from the big fountain drinks to the buckets of popcorn, not going to rate this as I just went right to the theatre where this was very different from the other guys. If you ever order your tickets online, you will notice the limited seating.. as in, there is way less than your regular Cineplex theatre, and for good reason, if you have ever been to one of those 'show-houses' or just go to a Bestbuy and sit around their home theatre display, these are the couches (I would not even call this a chair) that will be your seating, and they are fully reclining to the point you are lying down and sinking in the leather couch. I was sitting front row watching Avengers: Infinity War and viewing this spectacle almost like feeling I was in bed. Cool factor of having a motorized button to lay you back, not like your grandpa's lazy boy where you may put out your back trying to lean in to get it to work. I was comfy, probably a bit too comfy... as it was hard to get out of the seat afterwards when it was all said and done. I found the screen not as clear as Cineplex one's and the sound not as crisp, but this is definitely a good alternative and in this area the place to go for watching the blockbusters coming out. I parked in the lot and it was close, but as I said, whether by public or personal transportation, and for one who likes big seats.. this is your place. read more

New Westminster is once again home to a theatre that shows first run films. Landmark Cinemas is at the new downtown Plaza 88 retail and entertainment complex which is part of the New Westminster SkyTrain station. Parking in the Plaza 88 complex costs and Landmark has yet to work out a deal with the developer about validation. Unfortunately, the prices are at par with the Cineplex locations in Metro Vancouver, $12.50 CAD. Landmark's Abbotsford location is a mere $6.25. Like their competition, there will be a deal on Tuesday showings. My beef is that Landmark is copying Cineplex pricing without any originality such as offering a reduced matinee entry. One of of the owners said they may try to do something price-wise after the summer. The biggest problem with watching a flick, beyond the typical rude texters, is that the theatre's entrance (like number 8) is right next to the screen. What this equates to is constant distraction by people walking in and out of the movie and your eyes drawing attention to the side motion and especially bright hallway lighting, instead of the silver screen. One of the owners said they are going to try to reduce the corridor lighting, but I think seeing people with ants in their pants might drive some, like myself, loonier than normal. Hopefully you don't have weak kidneys, because I believe the only washrooms are at the main entrance, so you better sprint. For me it all boils down to this, trying to watch a movie with aholes playing with their phone and/or talking is like mission impossible. I opt for matinees because the texters are usually in school at that time and the other old farts watching are usually pretty quiet. I don't have a lot of motivation with the New West Landmark when they can't entice me with a lower price for coming around noon or 1 p.m. Landmark Cinemas would easily make up any savings with my addiction to overpriced concessions. I'm hoping this review hits home with the company and they tweak their offerings, then I'll bump up the rating for this joint. read more

Screw the chaos of Metrotown. Take the train to New West and take a few steps (literally) to Landmark Cinemas. I had no idea that there are two floors of shops and restaurants atop New West station. Super cool. We bought our tickets online where you can reserve the seats you want, super cool! They somehow have 10 theaters which is way more than I expected. Brand new, you will avoid crowds here. They build a new complex all around New Westminster station and the Landmark Cinema is part of it. This movie theatre has a good decent size for the area, clean and new. They have deals for Tuesdays and loads of combos for popcorn and drinks. I went to the new 3D room and it was so nice and comfortable. You can smell the new furniture.
