Comic-com is a time filled with awesome events and sights that i assumed they would all be amazing…read more Gam3rcon sounded awesome, so i came early and got in pretty easily. Let me just say that this event isn't for everyone. They had an extensive array of monitors hooked up to multiple different consoles and systems, which was cool. I even won a t-shirt in the first thing I did. I wanted to do as much as possible in an hour or two, since I had a lot to do that day, so I was determined to try a lot of different things. Who doesn't want to play Duck Hunt or Pac-Man or Mario or any of the retro games we grew up with? Now if you aren't an avid gamer, this event may seem foreign to you. I am not a gamer at all and thought this was going to be an expo of all the up-and-coming new games. It turned out to be just a bunch of guys hanging out playing video games, hogging and doing what any kid usually does when playing games. It was in a small room, not very festive at all, and definitely not what I expected. There weren't any new game exhibitions or displays. It was pretty much a figure-it-out-yourself event. They had a video crew interviewing a guy that made a robot, which was cool, but I was trying to play Rock Band in the background. I was told to stop playing because of the sound was getting into the interviews. I wanted to play and was pressed on time, so that kinda bummed me out. And when I actually got to play, the guitar ran out of battery mid-song and nobody came to help. People clearly saw I was having trouble, yet no one came by. I asked a guy about it and he got all flustered, saying he wasn't the one in charge of that and pointed at someone for me to talk to. Instead of that, what he should have done was notify one of the workers himself instead of pawning me off to some guy that was more concerned with his computer that he was playing with. That guy was there when the guitar ran out of battery and didn't even offer to help out. I had no idea that he worked there because none of them had any identification of some sort. I gave 3 stars because of the cool retro games, but docked one for disorganization and unprofessionalism, another for malfunctions that nobody offered to fix. Why would you even put the Rock Band game next to the area where you know people were going to be filming and interviewing? And the film crew literally was blocking the way the whole time while trying to walk around. Definitely going to be a one-time thing for me, check it out if you must, but I would save the money on one of the other better events in the area.

As a new pinball guy, I am intrigued with how they work. I have been buying broken low priced machines and repairing them for resale. I have had a nice little run of 10+ machines in about a year. It's a hobby that is rewarding and frustrating. Every now and again, I need a little help on repairs beyond my knowledge. Thats when AA shine. I set up a time, or drop the machine off and Mark gets it running again. I take care of the little stuff, but his experience gets the machine up and running The crew at AA offer advice and help with parts and pieces. All this buying and selling has payed for my first full shopped and warrantied pin. AA had a Bad Cats in fantastic shape and for a fair price. Its now sitting in my line up looking amazing next to 2 other Williams of the same era. I can not thank the crew enough. It's a great hobby made better by people who truly care about their reputation.
