They offer free breakfast buffet and they serve lots of fruits (which I didn't see at any other hotels in southern Germany), and yogurts, breads, cereals, cheeses and cold cuts, etc. The owner made fresh brewed coffee, semi hard boiled eggs (my favorite!) and bacons after we requested with no extra cost. We also tried their dinner and they were really good as well. (They even brought them to our room!). Only downside was that air conditioner was broken (and the room was really hot when we got there), but it cooled down around 9pm and we didn't need it anymore. I highly recommend it!!

A beautiful building and estate nestled into the side of hill with great views, the interior can only be describe by the German word "gediegen." Nothing flashy, everything subtly elegant, substantive and quietly impressive. On the day of our visit, the gorgeous front of the building was obscured by a corporate event banner, but the friendly staff put table in a window niche for us to enjoy coffee, delicious strawberry torte and the views. I can only imagine what it would look like on a sunny and dry day, but would go back to visit and sit on the terrace any day.

I am so glad we ended up in this tiny restaurant in Le Petit France for lunch! Since we didn't have breakfast, we opted to go big on lunch and this place fit that bill. The place is quaint and the proprietor was gracious and helpful with us Americans. The portions were generous and decadent. Don't come here looking for health food. Come here looking for hearty, authentic Alsatian dishes. You won't regret it. Onion soup - France meets Germany in this bowl. The onions in the soup was so tender and rather than being topped with a crouton and cheese, it was served on the side and we dipped it in the broth. So good. Foie gras - If you have any qualms about this delicacy, now is the time to get over them because it was the best foie I've ever had. The area is known for it, so there was no way I wasn't going to have some. Just do it. Don't not do it. Ham hock - No knife required. I was given a nice steak knife for it, touched the thing, and it fell apart. I put the knife down and just had at it with my fork. It was so ridiculously tender and rich. Came with potatoes (take some of the skin/fat from that meat and combine it with the potatoes as you dredge up the wine reduction with them) and a side salad (health food!). Order this. Just don't tell your cardiologist. Spaetzle gratin - And finally a dish of fat and carbs to round out or light lunch. It's like if Germany wanted mac n cheese, except way better. Also came with that healthy side salad.

Plus the chef grows, makes and produces wine on sight designed around his cuisine. Which enhances the experience even more! 5 star experience from beginning to the end. Merci!!
