Great quality, fast turnaround time, and affordable pricing! I came to Lana's to get my USC grad sash embroidered in late March. In total, I paid $40 for 4 designs ($10 each). She finished in a little over a week. Paid in cash. Emailed her the designs. My sash looks elegant and clean, which is exactly what I was looking for! Notes - free street parking - near the Grove - have to buzz into the building - if your design is complex, she charges a 1x fee (I think it's $20 instead of $10) - she sewed over my pockets, which is my fault for not specifying. just something to note if you want to keep your pockets and are embroidering the top part of your grad sash! read more

Not sure how Lana gets anything less than 4-stars here. She is AMAZING and such a nice lady! I purchased a backpack for my business to carry my laptop and other supplies in. I wanted to have my logo embroidered on the backpack. After getting price quotes from a number of different shops in the area that were way over budget and had tons of limitations or add-on extras, I decided to give Lana a call. Lana gave me a quote over the phone and asked that I bring the backpack in. When I did and showed her where I wanted the logo placed, she was unsure it could be done (limited room in the area) but agreed to try. A week later I came in to pick up the backpack and I was over the moon. The detail and quality of her work is impeccable. I was so impressed that I brought in four polo shirts which she again, flawlessly added my logo to. (They look so professional!) She is now working on a customized hat for me that will be ready next week. I TOTALLY disagree with the reviews here that state Lana is brisque or rude. I find her to be very personable and engaging. She is also very funny. She has been doing embroidery work for close to 50 years! When we first met to go over the backpack project, she took the time to make sure that the size and location were correct and also worked with me to pick out the best color thread to match the colors of my logo. One of the polo shirts I brought in was white. Lana made sure to pick thread that would hold up in the wash since I would likely be adding bleach when I wash that one. Not sure what more you can ask for. It is a no-frills shop where quality work is done at a fair price with excellent turnaround time. It is in a great old school building on Fairfax. (Love the gate where the buzzer is!) Lana has my business forever. I am looking around now to see what else I can bring her to embroider! LOL! read more

Lana did 40+ USC graduation sashes in 2 weeks during busy grad season and they looked fantastic.

Had a lab coat that I bought and needed embroidered, and I live within walking distance, so I decided to give Lana's a try. It's in the building where Fight Bike used to be (it's another workout place now), and you have to dial to get in. Lana is on the 3rd floor. I did have a feeling of what to expect when I came in, it's a room full of embroidery projects sort of strewn all over the place. For lab coats, she has font samples if you want serif, script, etc. She did not take down specifics after I gave my name, degree, font, and color. Pick up time was under 1 week, and estimates are given on the spot. I came to pick up, and was surprised to see the periods there in the MD (my preference is no periods in the MD part, but it can be written both ways), but I'm not going to have it redone for a small difference. The work is solid and clear (see picture). I didn't specify size, but she made it fit perfectly in line with the chest pocket. The attitude is kinda brusque and not touchy feely, so there is a hole in the wall sort of feel to it. The job was $12, a little pricer than I expected, given other reviews on here. She takes cash and credit card, no tax, because I presume it is included. Parking looks to be street/meter only. I probably will try to do future white coats and embroidery through my hospital, but Lana did come through in a pinch. read more

Came here to get my USC sash embroidered in early April, and Lana wouldn't even talk to me let alone take my order. I'd called a while back and got no answer, so decided to drive to fairfax. I wish she'd answered the phone though and told me she wasn't taking orders because it could have saved me the drive and parking meter fee. I'm sure her work is good but around this time of year she's so overwhelmed and overworked with sash orders. She told me to find somewhere else for embroideries, and when I asked what was nearby, she refused to think of names, shrugged and said she only knew her store. If you find yourself in the same situation, try Stitch Me! It's about two miles away and has excellent customer service, reasonable prices, and they got my sash done in a week--no rush charge. If you really want your sash embroidered by Lana I recommend coming as early as possible, otherwise don't waste your time. read more

Lana's Embroidery is located on the 3rd floor. The entrance is on Colgate and you have to get buzzed in using the intercom. I called numerous embroidery places before I settled on Lana's. Pricing seems competitive ($5-$10 for one item) and her hours are longer than a lot of other places. I wanted to get one jacket embroidered with the name of my stepdad's boat for his Christmas present. Even though it was only one item, she patiently walked me through all of the font options. If I were to do this again, I would probably play with various fonts on MSWord beforehand so I would know exactly what I wanted. Anyway, her turnaround time is fast and she is very friendly. The only downside is the complete lack of parking nearby. I almost didn't make it to Lana's the first time because I was about to give up on parking. read more

If you need embroidery work done, the search is over. Lana is amazing. I came to her with a very last-minute "project" that other places said they couldn't do with extra time. She pulled it off overnight. Not only did she pull off the near-impossible, but she made it look amazing. I'm talkin the kind of work that looks way better than you imagined in your head. Speaking of which, she also suggested going with a different color scheme than I had envisioned. I trusted her call, and she was right. AHHHHH. LANA IS GREAT! So if you're looking for her place, it's kind of weird. Just put in her address and follow the directions... It's around the corner of the Fitness Bike place and it's a fancy black gate that says 425 at the top. When you get there, there's a machine where you can call her so she can open the gate for you, just hit "309." Once you hear that gate buzz, open it and go all the way to the third floor, turn left, then turn right onto the main hallway and her door is on the right hand side at the very end. I got my graduation sash embroidered with my name for only $6 flat, no tax because she only accepts cash. I dropped it off on Wednesday and picked it up by Friday. I am so so so happy with the result! I'm not sure about her pricing for other embroideries, however, since the price was so reasonable for a name embroidery, I can't imagine her other services being any more expensive than that. read more

Lana was fantastic! I came to her for a project that fell through with the original company after they quoted me $85 for the work I was asking to have done. The project I asked about was unusual and obviously not something she gets requests for often. Basically I needed a hand towel embroidered with both art and lettering. I also needed it done in less than a week. I wrote out everything I wanted written on the towel and told her the designs I was also looking for. There was a lot of confusion and the possibility of her not having the designs. I finally told her a very broad outline of what I was looking for, considering I was running out of time and needed to have it done, and she said I'll see what I have and email a proof to you before I do anything with the towel. There was nothing else I could ask for. After telling me she would email it the next Monday (I went to her on a Friday) I was getting worried when I hadn't heard from her all day. She finally sent the email around 5pm with the proof and it was better than I could have hoped for. The designs she had found were way better than the designs I was going to use with the other company and the writing was beautiful. I asked for one correction because a Z looked more like a Q with the font she was going with but after I expressed my concern she fixed it right away. My towel was finished the next day and she only charged me $30! And I picked it up that Wednesday. Lana was a miracle worker and creates a fabulous product for a great price. read more

Lana's is wonderful! I've been her a couple times, the first to get a dash cover embroidered for my parents and the second to get a blood pressure cuff personalized for a nursing graduate. Both times were pleasant. She only took a few days (maybe 4-5) to finish each item. You can tell she's busy. There are a lot of projects in the small shop. But the final products turned out better than anticipated. I read the other reviews before arriving which helped me find the right door, etc. You just need to ring the shop on the intercom and she'll let you in. The shop is on the 3rd floor. I believe 1-2 reviews said she's a cash only establishment which isn't true. She accepts credit cards if that's your preferred method of payment. read more

One of the most of affordable embroidery shops in the area. I had my sash done by her, and it cost $40 - $30 for the embroidery, and $10 for a rush job. She gets incredibly busy near graduation season, so definitely visit early on. I simply visited to drop off my sash, hand her a picture of what I wanted and that was it - extremely quick. She has a very straightforward and blunt manner in regards to her business, but it's fast and to the point. She did not ask me any extra questions so make sure that the picture you bring is exactly what you want. She charges $6 for patches that she already has done, and $12 for unique ones that she doesn't already have. I will say that there is some pricing discrepancy with her: I asked to have my sash done earlier and so she charged me the extra $10. However, another girl who visited Lana for her sash asked to have it rushed in the same amount of time but did not get charged the extra fee. Other than that, she did a great job and I'd recommend her for anyone needing embroidery done on a budget. read more

I firmly regret going here after reading all of the rave reviews. When I initially came to drop off a bathrobe to be embroidered, Lana was rude, annoyed and also passively aggressively judged the font I picked (so I picked a different one). She also did not ask any questions about size or spacing of the lettering. I very wrongfully assumed it would be understood to make it look nice. I just picked up the robe I'm giving as a gift and it looks terrible. Terrible as in uncentered, uneven, teeny lettering and it was $22. What?! So upsetting. read more

So this place has been my favorite place for simple embroidery. When I first went here, I was a little scared to have ANYONE work on my clothes (since they are not always what you would call cheap). So I really care about quality work and am very picky. Luckily, I wasn't disappointed. The work came back just as I would have liked, and the letters and craftsmanship was great. The logo and letters were professionally done and it looked like I had just bought them that way. Perfect. As for the pricing, I think it's manageable. I'm not sure if I would go if it was tooo much higher. The people that work here have also been quite great. Kind, calm, and trustworthy. All in all, I like this place. read more

Although it was a little tricky to find, Lana's is a great place to get something embroidered around the Miracle Mile area. I had a kart/race suit that I needed work on, and I brought it in to Lana. Yes, parking can be a challenge, but she's smart enough to be open after 5pm and on weekends so people can get there after work. I knew Lana was all right when she jokingly asked me if I were going to use my little pillows for voodoo. Her work was great. It was done when she said it was going to be done. The price was fair. Only 4 stars because it was such a simple job, but I'm a fan.
