Lol. The massage itself was OK. The major problem was a forced tip at the end. The total for two people was 120$ and after tipping 20$ (they left the room twice, there was no music, and they got the appointment time wrong so 20$ seemed more than fair and appropriate), I was scolded and told that it wasn't enough of a tip. Then she brought out a previously hidden tabletop sign saying they required 30$ tip. People.. tips are and should be voluntary additions for exceptional service. I had a little extra time so I went into Lan Foot Spa to see if there was someone who could give me a 30 minute reflexology. The woman at the desk seemed a little annoyed that I didn't have an appointment, but she took me in the back and did the massage for me. They make you pay upfront, and now I know why. The 30 minute reflexology that I paid for turned out to be 16 minutes and during the 16 minutes she walked out of the room 3 times. when I complained about the 16 minutes, she acted like she didn't understand what I was saying. Got really bad , impersonal massage today. Most of it was just sliding her elbow over my back, even though i tried to communicate to her where it hurts, to work on the area and work out the knots. I had 30 mins session and it was not even 30 mins. At 5:45 i was still standing in the lobby waiting for her, then laid on the table waiting for her, and I was up from the table and dressing at 6:14. She left in the middle to attend to the front desk and was watching something on the phone while massaging . To add insult to the injury, while i was paying (40 bucks for 30 minutes), they demanded a $10 tip, stating the "require " this amount tip on 30 minute massages ! Will not be back. read more

I went there with my friend for reflexology they were picky about timing when I called. In the end they took us right away even when we arrived at the odd time, they took us both into the same room with two beds and did the reflexology there. The lady who did mine was ok when I asked for extra pressure she did add accordingly. It was my friend's first time and she enjoyed it. We gave them $12 tips and they were very satisfied. The next time I came in without an appointment there was nobody in sight I waited for a while and someone came out and told they could not take me at that time. So I went to another place. I have been to this place several years before when it was owned by a family from what I could tell. I remember the big room in the center with big comfortable chairs for the foot massage. I also remember being store bring much darker than it is now. The massage I received than was good, but I always felt I was being watched as I was massaged. Well my Sixth sense wasn't wrong because I did see eyes watch from the large round whole in the door. More than once I had seen an eye watching from the hole in the door. I know I said something about it, because after that. I think that started having customers face away from the door hole. I know it was done with me.I did not like the hole in the door. The new owners took care of that problem because they did not like that hole either. Anyhow, last year I was here a few times and I learned the other owners sold the business. I don't think the name of the store changed, but the people that worked there then had. The masseuses I have had there were very thorough. I have read some write about how Asians tend to focus on the gluteus maximus a lot. I have experienced some places where your underwear gets pulled down so your as..buttcrack is showing. I don't care all that much, but some people do. In this case it didn't matter bec as use you are nude...or go to the level your comfortable with.. (Remember you are paying for the massage, so go there feeling comfortable.) Everytime I have been here the hour just seem to fly by. I think the longest I have been there is two hours. Two hours relaxation without falling asleep. Falling asleep during a massage is not a good thing. Should you fall asleep, "you'll miss all the heavenly glory" as Bruce Lee once said.(yes I know the whole quote to what Bruce Lee Said...I shorted it) I haven't been here this year, but maybe I will later in December. I remember the masseuse checking with me to make sure the massage is going the way I like. I appreciate that very much. The masseuse I have had all ask if I want soft or hard massage. I gave this place another shot and this time I got a female masseuse. I got a foot massage for $40/hour. The massage was pretty good but during the massage, the masseuse took and made several phone calls and stepped out for several minutes to talk to another guest. She ended the massage right at an hour. I asked her why she ended at an hour when she took my time to speak with another customer. She proceeded to agrue with me and told me that she was only out one minute. I'm upset at the fact that she didn't acknowledge she was more than a minute and kept continuing to argue with me. And obviously the experience was not relaxing at all because she woke me up every time the phone rang. I was not offered a discount and paid full price. I'm sure my technician was a wonderful person. She was completely inexperienced or just lacked any skill whatsoever. Worst massage ever. I even asked mid way if I could have another tech replace her but I was told it wasn't possible. Her movements were rough and down right abrasive, not at all relaxing in the least. She had no sense of pressure points. I had asked for a deep tissue massage and the absolute first thing she did was climb on me and just walk all over my body. Without any warm up. I found Lan Foot Spa through an Amazon Local deal ($35 for 1-hr session of 30-min reflexology & 30-min acupressure massage). I had my first session today, which was awesome, so I just bought a couple more w/ 1 day left on the deal. The setting: Quite peaceful, and for the most part quiet. As another Yelper had mentioned, treatment areas aren't rooms w/ floor-to-ceiling walls, but separated by 6-ft (maybe taller) partitions. No biggie, really, as the only things I heard were the occasional phone rings (low ring volume) and acupressure "slaps" of others being worked on. The staff: Very courteous, friendly, and respectful. And appreciative. At the end of my session, the manager gave me a card for a $42 1-hr session (vs. $79 regular price). The services: I was interested in therapeutic reflexology, where each point on the foot that corresponds to an organ, gland, etc. is worked on. This isn't what my practitioner did, but the service was terrific nonetheless. Very relaxing and conducive to dozing off. The clothes-on, full-body acupressure massage was great. My practitioner asked if I was okay w/ the pressure, which I was -- it was deep enough to release tension, but not so hard as to be painful. Again, it was very relaxing, and I no longer feel the tightness I'd been feeling in my shoulder blades, lower back, and hips. Huzzah! The location: Easy access by Metro if you can't or prefer not to drive. Take the Red Line to the White Flint station. Lan Foot Spa is in the Metro Pike Center strip mall diagonally across the street (where McDs is), around the corner of the far end. Summary: If therapeutic reflexology is what you're looking for, this might not be the place for you. I can't say for sure, since I've only had one session and don't know if the practitioners are trained in the technical aspects this modality. My wife and I enjoy massage and try all different places in the area. This place is clean with friendly staffs. Price is reasonable and you get your own room. We used trubate for the first time and I enjoyed the session with Lili and purchased their package. However, my wife did not enjoy her session. So, next time my wife tried a foot massage with a (different) male masseuse and he is not good either. The third time, we brought a friend of us and she did not enjoy at all. She felt more pain than go. However, my wife did like Lili. So, we are going to other places these days because they have only one good masseuse - Lili and my wife and I can't go and get the massage done at the same time. The bottom line is: if you are by yourself, get Lili and it can be 4.5*. But, others are below 2.* -. ---------------------------- Has been to lots of massage places these days. I have to upgrade this place 4 star because it is the 2nd ~3rd best place in the area. The key for these place is to get right masseuses. The owner (Shao-Lan) is not bad at all. 3.5 stars. Still not quite sure how I feel about this place. I guess to start with the pros - I got their Living Social Deal that they had a while back and used it ($35 for 30 minutes of reflexology and 30 minutes of acupressure - pretty sweet deal!) I was running about 5 minutes late and so the manager/person at front desk gave me a call to check in with me ... I told him I was almost there and they were polite about it. As soon as I got there, they whisked me away into a private room. It's a small room, oriental decor (sliding doors, rectangular boxed frosted windows, etc)... however the walls are not floor to ceiling so you'll definitely hear the sounds of others... but it's not too bad... and honestly for the price, this is pretty good. My masseuse brought me a wooden bucket of hot water (with something in it? I never know!) and let me soak my feet in the warm bath for ~5 minutes. It's a great way to get you relaxed. Now the cons: Maybe this is personal, but I just felt like the foot reflexology session was not what I was expecting. The pressure was not nearly what I had hoped... and I felt like she used more strokes than pressure on certain points of the feet. In addition, the back massage was not very strong either. Mostly just felt like someone was somewhat stroke or caressing my back. This place seems very quaint, and nice... and I want to give it another chance. The staff here is incredibly nice. The manager gave me a card for a $42 1 hour session for me to use next time (which seems to be what they are doing). I got the Groupon good for 1 hour of acupressure and reflexology (30 minutes of each) for $35. It was supposed to be a one day deal from Groupon but I couldn't get an appointment time that was good for me the same day. The person I spoke with, Mark, said he could make an exception and accommodate me the next day at a convenient time. That was the first bonus. I made my appointment for 6:30 and arrived 5 minutes before. As soon as I walked in, not 30 seconds later, a man wearing a warm smile greeted me and briskly went behind the front desk and said, "you must be Adelina!". The fact that he was prepared and knew who I was just showed a great level of customer service. He then apologized that I would have a delayed start because those with previous appointments had started late due to traffic. He gave me a pass for a 1 hr massage for $39 on my next visit, which was very nice. I wasn't in any particular hurry so after he offered me some water I grabbed a seat and read a magazine. The decor is muted and subtle, with an emphasis on the "less is more" philosophy. I must mention the near immaculate state of the place. I've seen clinics and hospitals less clean than this place. Absolutely spotless! **It's called a spa, but don't expect Red Door; what it lacks in amenities it makes up for in quality of service** Just before 7, my massage therapist Ana came to scoop me up and promptly began the session. Ana's demeanor reflected Mark's in that she was very warm and friendly as well. My session began with a brief warm foot soak. This was followed by 30 minutes of foot work. She had a good firm but relaxing pressure. I was definitely able to decompress a bit. This was followed by some body work which I have to say wasn't as gentle as I'm used to at other places. However, considering the length of time I've gone without any work, I needed the firm pressure. But she asks you beforehand if you prefer gentle or deep pressure. Sadly, it was over before I knew it! But I enjoyed it. I only wished I had more time. It goes without saying that I will be frequenting this establishment. read more

I called and they seemed to have a lot of openings because I was able to pick the weekend time I wanted - SC and I did a couples massage and we were walked straight back upon arrival - The staff was friendly and courteous - The prices are pretty good - They have long business hours The Not So Great: - As others have mentioned, there's separators between each room that don't reach all the way to the ceiling so you can still hear what's going on at the spa (like people walking in and the customer in the next room who was clearing his throat) - I wasn't asked for how much pressure I wanted - I felt like I wasn't draped as fully. As Asian bodywork places go, this one is of the higher quality. The place is clean with a relaxing and quiet ambiance. The staff is friendly and professional. And the prices are so affordable! (fyi:there's a $2 fee if paying with card) Even though my therapist didn't ask me anything about my preferred pressure or if I had any issues, as we went I could tell her to lessen the pressure if needed. She had hands of steel and dug right into the tension, but because her strokes were varied and didn't hit bone, I didn't feel like I was bruised or beaten. (By morning however, I did feel some tenderness at my mid-back, but after I put an ice pack for 15 mins, I was fine). The massage was relaxing actually and by the time she worked her way to my other leg, I had zoned out, which is always a GOOD sign. She used a hot towel which served as both a nice end and to clean off the oil. I turned over and without lotion, she did compressions on my arms and on my legs (through the sheet). That lasted about 5 mins and I was a bit surprised but I didn't worry about it bc most of the tension was in my back anyway. It was also a full 60 min session..I must have zoned out a lot longer than I thought. In terms of draping, anywhere you go, you should disrobe to your level of comfort. Clothes on or off, its up to you.. but if you plan to be nude, just keep in mind that here it's a sheet covering you and they'll expose your butt if necessary. I didn't mind bc I have creaky hips and needed the work. The treatment room is a private space, divided by walls that don't reach the ceiling and you enter through a sliding door with a pretty frosted squares. You can still hear hushed chatter going on at reception and in the other spaces, but it's no biggie, it gets drowned out by the music and the dream-like haze caused by your massage. All in all, I enjoyed the experience and like their motto states: "Walk in. Float out." I certainly did that and I'm sure you will too. read more

Had a guy massage me. Had a living social. Yelp said they close at 7 but I arrived at 7:10 for a 90 minute session. The massage was good he had powerful hands. I've only been massaged by a guy once before but he did a really good job. My shoulder had a super knot in it and after 20 minutes of work on it I felt better and was able to start using my left arm again. We called in advance to ask if groupon deal could be used for full body massage rather than just "reflexology" - the answer was yes (15$ extra) and they were able to get us in immediately. The worker told me it was over at sixty minutes but I wanted 90 minutes. She realized it & said she'd do 30 minutes more on my back. I got less than 17 minutes. Most of the session she rubbed too hard on my arms & legs after I asked her not too. Also didn't use enough lotion and it felt like she was ripping my skin off. When paying, I gave a 10$ tip which seemed quite generous considering. They questioned the tip and said they suggest 15-20$ tip for the service. I said no, the tip is correct, the woman who did mine turned on her heel and stomped off. It was very uncomfortable & inappropriate. read more

Substandard massage, unpleasant experience, felt tense throughout massage as my couple of attempts to communicate with her fell on deaf ears and made things progressively worse. She felt the need to remind me twice (!) of how little one pays there for massages (?). No one but her at checkout, would have spoken to manager had someone been there. This was a sketchy place. Came here with a friend who found this while we're here on a business trip. Masseuse didn't seem like she was trained or certified. She mainly pushed on my back for the first 10 min then applied sticky oil on me, then a hot towel. I asked for her to focus on my neck and shoulder but instead got a short knuckle rub on my neck. She pulled on my arms and legs in a weird way that probably would of cramped my back if I had back pain. I'm a physical therapist assistant so I wasn't sure what she was trying to do. The whole vibe in the place reminded me of a happy ending spa so the whole time I was tense hoping she wouldn't try anything sketchy. She did kind of touched by butt crack a little too long with her pinky and then pushed on my sternum which I got no relief from. I left there feeling more tight and stressed than anything. They then told me that they do not accept Groupons on Tuesdays, which is stated nowhere in the terms of this Groupon. Picked this spa at random and b/c it was conveniently located. I was told I need a deep tissue massage, at least 1 or 2 a month b/c of my stress level (eye roll). I walked in and was immediately helped, I had called ahead and made an appt, however the door says walk-ins welcome. I was ushered into a room of beds w/curtains w/perfect club lighting and relaxing music. I requested a female (I'm a female), and I was not disappointed. Sometimes I had to check to make sure she didn't switch with a man ;), b/c her pressure & strength was mind blowing. After my massage, she did a hot stone massage which was amazing. I had several good experiences with their standard "clothes on" massage services. On my recent visit the manager suggested that the massage therapist give me a "massage with oil" which turned out to be a horrific experience. I've had many massages in my life but have never had to be exposed from the waist to the toes while on my stomach. Also, when the pressure was too great I asked for less. The next thing the therapist did was press her thumb so hard next to my lower spine that it was PAINFUL! I called to complain.
