I went into the store for the very first time today after driving past it millions of times and being too nervous to go in haha and I was nicely surprised today! All of the workers came up to me and asked me if I needed help at some point in time when I was in the store. They weren't annoying, but they asked just enough times to let me know that they were there if I did need help, which is perfect. I was not in the store to shop today because I still live at home but I am moving out in the near future and I am obsessed with chandeliers and anything that is sparkly and beautiful to look at. The story is full of that! Everything is shiny has very nice finishes everything looks brand spanking new and it looks like the perfect place for me to shop. Normally the products are probably very pricey but they're having a sale from 10 to 50% off I believe for the next week or two. I wish I was moving out now or that it was payday so I could purchase some of the items in the store but I will most definitely be back to lamps plus because it is a store full of beautiful items and that is my type of thang! We bought a ceiling fan yesterday from Rebecca who was extremely helpful. We took the fan home and installed it but the light didn't work on the fan so we called them. They were extremely helpful. Today, they had us bring the light part back of the fan for an exchange, instead of having to remove and return the whole fan. They even tested to make sure the light worked. Well while the product selection is pretty good, and the prices are alright for the quality: the service could use improvement. Every time I have been in, I and the other shoppers seem to be almost totally ignored. Nobody likes to be followed around like a piece of meat, but a little help here and there would be nice. They do help carry out products to your car when needed which is very nice but I always get the impression that "only paying customers are welcome". They used to offer electrical repairs and re-wiring on any lamps or sconces but stopped doing that because "they diddn't make enough margin". All in all not a bad option if you are looking to buy new lighting but if you need any kind of after-purchase service or help, go elsewhere. read more

I came here with an obvious mission, it was indeed time to purchase a lamp. There was a pretty good sale going on. It was busy when I arrived, so I had to wait a while to get service. The selection was really good; they had a lot of different looks and I was pretty able to navigate the shop by myself. It is a good place to go for selection. In my opinion it is a bit pricey. The electricians were at my house to fix an electrical problem I was having with my ceiling fan using the remote. After performing some testing, they told me my ceiling fan was defective. I doubted that and I also knew I had the correct remote. I couldn't find the fan paperwork to review the specs versus the current wiring so I called Lamps Plus even though it was 10 minutes before they opened, but Pal Walia , the manager, answered and immediately went into action. He looked up my purchase of almost a year ago, found the model and then he spoke with my electricians while I experienced excellent customer service in action! I moved to Oceanside eight years ago and needed new lighting for my home. Christy has always provided me with outstanding knowledge for lighting my home inside and out. I have also purchased very comfortable chairs for reading there too for a reasonable price. Today the base on one of my five pole lamps completely came apart. Went on the website and scheduled an in home consultation. Pal came and all my worries were solved. He went in to each room and had ideas for our lighting needs. We met him at the store the next week and he helped us pick new fans and lights. My husband was worried he would try to "up-sale" us once we arrived at the store. It was not the case. He saved us tons of money and even guided us to less expensive items. We also used their installation service. The installers were amazing and even cleaned up after the installation. The cost was extremely reasonable when you add up we had five new fans, recessed lighting, track lighting, and a new light for the entry way. Pal even helped us match the new family room light to our entry light. Because of the great service, I am finishing up by some more lighting. Knowledgable and helpful staff. My husband and I visited the store two days in a row and were quickly helped within a minute or two. We wanted to dramatically increase the lumens in our dining room for reading purposes. Jonathan recommended a Torchiere styled floor lamp with higher lumen LED bulbs. We appreciated that he showed us affordable lamps and never tried to upsell us. He also steered us away from non-LED compatible lamps that may be hard to find bulbs for in the future. We ended up purchasing six 1600 lumen Tesler (Lamps PLUS brand) LED warm white bulbs and a heavily discounted beautiful $199.99 to $49.99(!!!) lamp. Their 1 year warranty on lamps and light bulbs gave us peace of mind. After trying the LED lights, we realized that the warm light ~3200K bulbs clashed with our existing 5000K bulbs. The floor lamp brightened the dining room, but we also wanted to replace our ceiling light with one that could take more than 2 bulbs. We returned the next day and were helped by Mash and Jonathan. Mash's thorough knowledge of the lights lead us to the perfect ceiling light for our 9 foot ceiling that took 4 100W bulbs (Griffin Collection Antique Nickel 21" Wide Ceiling Light). The price was listed as $279.99 online, but the store sale took it down to $134.99! I am SO glad we decided to visit the store instead of shopping online. The lamp was easy enough to install and it is GORGEOUS!!! Our dining room looks completely different due the added 4800 lumens (Four 100W LED 1600 lumen 5000K daylights from Sylvania) and the new beautiful ceiling centerpiece. One note is that the store does not carry LED daylight bulbs, so we ended up going to Lowes for our specific daylight LED high lumen output lightbulb. To be fair, most people want warm lighting around the house for a roomier, cozier, and less harsh feel. We love daylight because we do a ton of reading at the dining table and it brings out the cool colors in our walls. The return process for the 6 warm white bulbs was pain-free and we received store credit toward the purchase of the new ceiling light. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised with the low-pressure store environment and the knowledgeable and helpful staff. We will return in the future when we want to upgrade or add other light fixtures. read more

I am very, very happy with Lamps Plus! We have been buying from them since 2003 here in Oceanside and before that in L.A. and I've never had a problem. I find their merchandise to be of xln't quality and very attractive. The store is lively, bright and beautifully lit, so it makes it a pleasure to walk in and shop. Their variety of mdse. is astounding - from furniture to lighting to various decor items. They have really expanded what they offer for sale over the years. Our home decor is quite "modern/contemporary" so their furnishings and lights work great for us as they also offer that kind in addition to the more traditional looks. I was prompted to write a review here (and shame on me for not doing so sooner) due to an interaction I had with the mgr. of the store, Pal. I had, for the first time, a small issue with a previous purchase and it had been "gnawing" on me because it was slightly over the guarantee return window. I decided to call and speak to the mgr., who happens to be Pal. After explaining my issue, he was so gracious and professional and didn't hesitate to remedy my situation ... and I am delighted. It seems seldom now that a store stands behind their merchandise or is willing to bend over backwards to make a customer happy. I called main number and they connected me to store nearest me (Oceanside). I recently moved into a new home in San Elijo and wanted to get a consultation on lighting for my dinning room. Made an appointment and then received a phone call late evening before that sales person could not make it, completely through my schedule off. I then changed appointment and sales person shows up with 2 catalogs, that I all-ready have, no ipad or anything to show me products. Not happy with a service. We stopped on Monday to ask them to order a fan for us. They weren't sure whether the fan was available and promised to call us back.. Never called back. We stopped next week and after standing in line for 20 minutes we asked them why they didn't call. They had nothing to say, but promised to call and email this time. Again, after several days, still nothing. This time I called and was told other customers are more important and I need to wait. After talking to sales person (James), I was promised an email within 10 minutes. After around 30 mins email finally arrived and they said they can order a fan. When I called back (and responded to email) to order, same wait and run-around and nobody is interested in taking an order. I gave up this place and ordered the same fan down the street at the smaller store. Besides being cheaper, I had fan in 2 days at my door. Never again I'll shop at Lamps Plus. read more
