    Lamplighter Resort

Amazing location with a very welcoming feel. A laid back resort with true Missouri charm. Conner does a great job making sure everything is just right. Highly recommend the Lamplighter Resort.

Setting on deck of cabin 1, cove is on the right & main channel (not pictured) is left. (Trailer is not a rental; don't worry.)

The room was dusty. Not very hot water. There was only a half a roll of TP-no refills. The breakfast looked ok, but not great. Chose to just grab a bagel to go. Just wasn't as impressed as last year. Will probably try a different hotel next time I'm in the area.

ADVISORY: SEVERE ADA VIOLATIONS, RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT, AND ILLEGAL LOCKOUT…read more On July 11, 2026, I checked into the Sleep Inn in Camdenton, MO at 1:00 AM and declared my Psychiatric Service Dog (PSD). After rejecting two uninhabitable rooms (one with soaked carpets, one in the basement which was over 80°F), I took a third room to rest. At 7:30 AM, I stepped out for two minutes to get dog food from my truck. The hotel immediately deactivated my keycard, trapping my service dog inside. At the desk, the clerk slammed a pet policy down without a word, demanding a signature. I refused, stating federal ADA law supersedes property policy. Staff blocked access to my room and animal over multiple interactions. When I stated we needed to rest, they threatened police intervention and forced an illegal eviction. The manager then used a master key, propped my room door wide open to the public hallway, surrounded it with housekeepers, and walked away--abandoning a secure room and endangering my service dog. The entire incident is recorded on video and audio. Retained legal counsel has initiated civil litigation against this Choice Hotels franchise and the individuals involved. Administrative civil rights complaints are being filed. Do not stay here.

**Caveat: If you've never experienced everyday life at the lake, you might question why this spot…read moregets four stars - it's a rating based on general expectations, not the traditional hotel star rating system.** While our family lake house has been under renovations for two years, we've missed our lake weekends and have needed a space to land on weekend trips to meet contractors and in doing some of th work ourselves. We've stayed at $900 a night villas on big family gathering weekends and we've stayed at "Economy Stay" places around the lake. Dave's Hideaway absolutely fits the bill for an economic stay with more than the average number of amenities. Each room we've rented has a two full size beds, a standard size kitchen refrigerator, fan, microwave, 4-cup coffee maker with coffee, and even a flyswatter for those pesky lane flies. There's even a set camping chairs outside each door with a small table for enjoying an autumn lake evening. (I'm not a smoker but there's also an ash tray as room are non-smoking.) It checks the box for cleanliness despite the age of the place - carpets were clean, all of the linens smelled super clean and fresh, and the toilet was sparkling white. We didn't check out the fire pit and it's off season so, way too cold for a swim but others might like to know they are options. This room was the lowest rate in the area and felt a little like crashing in my friends basement - comfortable, safe, clean, and familiar. Worth a look if you don't need or want the "lake resort" experience or price tag. Stay like a local and stay at Dave's.

After…read moregrowing up staying at Cedar Green Resort, I remembered with fondness all the good times we had hanging out at The Lake and wanted to share that with my wife and young kids. We have stayed at Kon Tiki Resort two of the last four years and have stayed in the same cabin both times. The cabins are small but cozy and well kept. In fact, our cabin was renovated in between our first and second stay. New floors and complete bathroom remodel. Cabin has a kitchen and table for four which is great for my wife and I and two young girls. It's a full kitchen with fridge, stove, sink, microwave and several cabinets stocked with all the dishes and utensils needed for a weeks vacation. Cabin also has three small bedrooms, not much bigger than the beds. Tight, but really, we are there to be out in The Lake and be out running around. Cabin also has a charcoal grill which we used several times. Our cabin had a shaded deck that wrapped around one corner of the cabin offering a great view of the lake. Resort has all the facilities you need for a week of fun in the water. Laundry, boat rental, sand swimming beach, two docks with slips, ice on site. We rented a fishing boat just to give our oldest a ride on the lake and not so much for fishing. Rental was moderately priced and well maintained. Since the resort is on "the quiet side" of The Lake, we had a nice leisurely ride. There is also a nice patio area with several tables and lots of lounge chairs, great for keeping an eye on the girls while they are swimming or relaxing and watching the evening fade away. Kon Tiki is located on EE along with a lot of other family resorts. EE is close to a full service grocery store and there is a gas station nearby, both located at the corner of highway 7 and 5. Kon Tiki is beautifully maintained and the owners are nice as can be, and available if needed.
