We've stayed at $900 a night villas on big family gathering weekends and we've stayed at "Economy Stay" places around the lake. Dave's Hideaway absolutely fits the bill for an economic stay with more than the average number of amenities. Each room we've rented has a two full size beds, a standard size kitchen refrigerator, fan, microwave, 4-cup coffee maker with coffee, and even a flyswatter for those pesky lane flies. There's even a set camping chairs outside each door with a small table for enjoying an autumn lake evening. (I'm not a smoker but there's also an ash tray as room are non-smoking.) It checks the box for cleanliness despite the age of the place - carpets were clean, all of the linens smelled super clean and fresh, and the toilet was sparkling white. We didn't check out the fire pit and it's off season so, way too cold for a swim but others might like to know they are options. This room was the lowest rate in the area and felt a little like crashing in my friends basement - comfortable, safe, clean, and familiar. Worth a look if you don't need or want the "lake resort" experience or price tag. Stay like a local and stay at Dave's.

The attention to detail is evident. We didn't see any of the bugs or spiderwebs that have always - at least for me - been part of the Lake experience. made a $100 deposit for a room in 2020. wife had surgery, so asked if deposit could be applied in…read morefuture. they said yes. then came 2021, with covid and their restrictive dates of 7 days minimum, we couldnt get a weekend to work. now its 2022, i wanted to try again. they (kay) stated she wont honor the deposit anymore. i asked for a refund, she refuses. i think given the above circumstances, applying the deposit or refund would be the right thing to do. i asked repeatly for consideration, but they refuse. i dont think this is a way to treat people and keeping peoples deposits without trying to assist is plain wrong. we wanted a 3 nite stay. i have contacted the better business bureau and chamber of commerce to file complaints.
