We were looking for a place to vacation and nostalgia led us back here. My mom and brother both had cabins. My brother was in 8 - which was a bit tucked away and close to the water. I got a hotel room for the week so I could have my own space. The hotel rooms don't have kitchens and there also weren't hair dryers in either the hotel or the cabins. Luckily, I had read through the website and brought my own. The cabins are a bit outdated but they did have a full kitchen. I enjoyed sitting on the porch while overlooking the lake. My nephew enjoyed the playground and was fascinated by the older slide. The game room seemed as it hadn't changed at all. There was at least one machine that took your money. The pool table also got jammed at least once. The pool was heated. My mom and nephew went swimming on the one day it wasn't raining. The pool was fine until the sun went away. We visited in October so they were lucky to use the pool at all. Being in close proximity to the lake, there was a lot of fishing that was done. Overall, this is a quiet resort. We had a great time visiting again. The hotels and cabins were extremely affordable (hotel was less than $400 for a week). Hopefully we will visit again in the summer when we can enjoy the lake more.

I am a veteran with PTSD and travel with a trained service dog. She was quiet, under my control, and caused no disturbance. The owner, Joy, asked if there was a dog on her property. I explained she was a service animal. Joy stated she did not care and that no animals are allowed and told us we needed to leave. We had to completely leave the resort and inconvenience friends to arrange care for my service dog just to salvage our trip. The situation is especially concerning because Joy later texted my spouse asking whether we were checking out because of the dog and offered a refund to find accommodations that accept pets. We explained that we had taken our service dog to a friend and would return without her. She acknowledged the message. The resort's policy says **"NO PETS ALLOWED,"** but under the ADA, service animals are not pets and generally cannot be excluded because of a no-pet policy. Businesses may ask whether the dog is required because of a disability and what work or task it is trained to perform. Instead, we were simply told the no-pet rule applied. My service dog was not aggressive, disruptive, or damaging anything. She was doing exactly what a trained service animal should do. After being separated from my service dog, I experienced a PTSD episode. This is precisely why access protections for service animals exist. I have reported the incident to the appropriate authorities and am pursuing the matter through the proper channels. This was not about an unruly pet.This was a trained service animal accompanying a disabled veteran. Businesses have every right to protect their property, but they also have legal obligations regarding legitimate service animals. I hope this situation results in a better understanding of those obligations If you are a veteran or disabled person who relies on a service animal, I strongly recommend knowing your rights before booking this property.

After…read moregrowing up staying at Cedar Green Resort, I remembered with fondness all the good times we had hanging out at The Lake and wanted to share that with my wife and young kids. We have stayed at Kon Tiki Resort two of the last four years and have stayed in the same cabin both times. The cabins are small but cozy and well kept. In fact, our cabin was renovated in between our first and second stay. New floors and complete bathroom remodel. Cabin has a kitchen and table for four which is great for my wife and I and two young girls. It's a full kitchen with fridge, stove, sink, microwave and several cabinets stocked with all the dishes and utensils needed for a weeks vacation. Cabin also has three small bedrooms, not much bigger than the beds. Tight, but really, we are there to be out in The Lake and be out running around. Cabin also has a charcoal grill which we used several times. Our cabin had a shaded deck that wrapped around one corner of the cabin offering a great view of the lake. Resort has all the facilities you need for a week of fun in the water. Laundry, boat rental, sand swimming beach, two docks with slips, ice on site. We rented a fishing boat just to give our oldest a ride on the lake and not so much for fishing. Rental was moderately priced and well maintained. Since the resort is on "the quiet side" of The Lake, we had a nice leisurely ride. There is also a nice patio area with several tables and lots of lounge chairs, great for keeping an eye on the girls while they are swimming or relaxing and watching the evening fade away. Kon Tiki is located on EE along with a lot of other family resorts. EE is close to a full service grocery store and there is a gas station nearby, both located at the corner of highway 7 and 5. Kon Tiki is beautifully maintained and the owners are nice as can be, and available if needed.

Here are my pros and cons: Pros: The layout of the property is good Big swing set with 8 swings Separate toddler swing and bars Many great family games (horseshoes, washers, shuffleboard, playing cards in each room and volleyball net, one kiddie pool and one regular pool) Cabins were mostly clean Nice size covered pavillion right near all the games, swing sets and pools so you could watch your kids playing. Water pressure is great The guy who was running the place made us feel welcome. He seemed happy to have us there. He was very helpful and didn't intrude on our stay whatsoever. Cons: Spider webs everywhere( I know we are next to a lake but I think that cleaning the place before we came would have been nice) Safety issues(There were nails sticking out of the concrete where the kiddie pool was, and some of the chairs are really old and should be tossed). Mattresses are terrible; they offer no support; very soft Some of the place looked run down The shower head was broken in the large red cabin No central air in large red cabin Kiddie pool had a dead night crawler and dead frogs in it when we arrived.No matter how much we cleaned it always had bugs in it. Hot tub smelled like it hadn't been used all winter. If I think of anything else I will add to this review but, I think that covers it. Shangri-La is a nice place for family reunions, fishing tournaments and family vacations. But I think with a little work it could be a great place to stay.
