My wife and I just stayed at Bear bottom resort for a short getaway/fishing trip. Unfortunately, the air conditioner in the efficiency unit we had reserved was not working properly. So the new owner, Lindsey and his assistant Lily set us up in the large room below, which was so kind and accommodating considering it was $299 a night and they did not charge us a dime more. In fact, I tried to give them more money but they refused. We could not be happier with the new owners. It's a fun place with lots to do. Really good food. And a fun family atmosphere. Whenever we go to the lake, we will always go to Bear Bottom resort! read more

Im not sure if the name is significant of the hideous bear decorations or if it's because if you walk around your room barefoot the bottom of you feet are the color of a black bears. One of the worst places we have ever stayed at. Staff had no idea what was going on with reservations and everything was filthy. We had a large group and ended up in buildings 5, 7, and 11. Let's start with 11, it has 4 rooms with queen size beds. They are uncomfortable and make a ton of noise every time you move. If you close the doors you'll suffocate bc there is no AC in the rooms. The bathroom is about the size of one in an RV and was gross. You'll listen to the plumbing from above run down through your shower pipe. There was nothing as far as kitchen items. Need a knife, SOL, want coffee, SOL.... In building 5 the bedroom with 3 beds in it has no door. The bathroom is better but the kitchen was bad. None of the microwaves worked and the fridge had standing water due leaking from the freezer. The private pool stunk, we couldnt figure out why. If you come for a couple of hours for dinner or the public pool I'm sure its fine but save yourself a headache and stay somewhere else. read more

This is "on the lake" eat'n and it's LotO funest! Drive your boat into the cove, take the kids to the waterslide and grab a plate of nachos! Go back to the restaurant for a full meal and a drink from the tiki bar. The music is perfect! Come watch fireworks every Saturday night at 9:45 in the summer. 1/4 size nachos was a meal plus for 2 of us! Wedge salad was really a half head of lettuce (see photos). Drinks are lake staples. You won't leave hungry here! Smoking section of the bar is glassed off yea'. But the restrooms are in there. Boo!! read more

We have come to Bear Bottom for years, but were disappointed with our annual trip this year. It took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive (I let this slide but they really weren't that busy so it seemed surprising). Our food was brought to the wrong table (literally handed to the other patrons and sitting in front of them on their table). When they realized the error, they had everyone hand it back to the waitress to bring it to our table (just seems unsanitary). My son's pizza had no sauce and minimal cheese on one half. I did complain and the waitress was very nice about it. The manager would only give half off (a whole $3.25) because my son was willing to eat the other half (he is 4 and I didn't want the melt down from taking his food away while everyone else had theirs so they could make me a brand new one). But there was no effort by the manager to fix the situation. And apparently they charge $1 for "the rocks" from your margarita. We have been loyal patrons, but were really put off this year. read more

We did not stay at the resort but went for lunch and water slides. The food is very good and the portions are huge. The nachos are amazing! The service was very good and friendly and the outdoor eating area is very nice. On the downside the food is overpriced. If they scaled down their portion size a bit they could bring their prices down to a more reasonable range. After lunch our kids played some video games and went on the water slides. They have a $10 all day water slide pass - don't waste your money. They only have two slides (which are identical) and the kids get bored FAST. The video games are all outdated and half are broken. There's no good place to change into your swimsuits if you're not a guest and the pool at the end of the water slides is filthy. Overall, it was just ok, we would not go again. read more

Just about the worst dining experience ever. Our server could not get the bill correct to save her life. Forgot to bring a spoon for an ice cream but, boy when she did...she plopped it right down in ketchup. She put our orders in incorrectly so when they brought our food out to us, no one knew what was going on. She told us right at the start not to order the mini tacos. Wow. Thanks. Too bad you didn't warn us about the horrible buffalo chicken sandwich or the nachos that didn't have any meat or were stale or the cocktails that were watered down or the tea that tasted like it had been made last week. The girl that was bussing the table next to us literally dumped the remains of the entire table's drinks in either the lake or the landscaping. Not just once...but for the three tables we watched in amazement as she cleared - and not discreetly or quietly. More with reckless abandon. The flies. Omg the flies. LORD OF THE FLIES!!! you'd think the flies would be lured to discreet traps. The whole sitting outside by the lake and eating - sure you don't expect 5 star service and a fly or two isn't totally unexpected but this was ridiculous. Still you're dining out and it's my hard earned money...you'd think you'd walk away with nice experience. Food arrived in stages and incorrectly. Waitress spent the majority of the evening flirting with the guy behind the bar. Had to ask for the utensils. Received food that was missing key elements, like cheese on a cheese steak!! No refill offers. Different items came out at really weird and random times. For instance, the forgotten avocado and crab salad - two of the three people that ordered it got theirs and the third was brought out much later, after the main entrees. A fun place for adults and kids. The nachos are a must try as they seem to be some of the best on the lake. For $10 you can get an all day pass to ride the water slides, fun for both kids and adults. They have a bar and pool at the bottom of the water slides so adults can enjoy drinks while watching the kids have fun. I went to Bear Bottom a few weeks ago with a large group and have been meaning to write a review ever since! We had a group of about 20 people and went on a Thursday. Seating: We were able to get a table right away and as time passed we were able get space right up at the bar while all of the kiddos continued to swim and ride the water slides. Service: The service was EXCELLENT! We didn't have to wait any time at all for a waitress to come over and take our orders and hurry back with our drinks. It took less than 10 minutes for our food to come out after we had ordered. While we were sitting at the bar there were two bartenders that were absolutely wonderful and very attentive the entire time! Food: The food was good. The nachos are HUGE! enough for several people to share. It was typical lake restaurant fare, but still good and priced well. Docking: This is a big one for our group! I've always said that if you don't have great dock help then no one will come back. Well, Bear Bottom has GREAT dock help! They helped us tie up when we arrived, and when it was time to leave not only did they untie us and make sure we were ready to go but the wrapped up our ropes before giving them back to us. Overall this was a wonderful experience and I would recommend Bear Bottom to anyone looking for a good place to spend a day while at the lake! read more

Loved this place on my visit last year but don't think I am returning anytime soon. This was probably one of the worst meals and overall dining experience I've had in along time. I ordered shrimp tacos and received mainly a cabbage filled tortillas with a few popcorn shrimp in them and was charged $15. My husband ordered a Buffalo chicken sandwich that seemed like a microwave breaded chicken breast. The whole thing seemed like food that was purchased from the Walmart frozen food section. Had a wonderful day at the slides and pool by the bar. It was $10 a child for an all day slide wristband and parents who only watched were free. We did watch our two sliders, while lounging in the pool, laugh and giggle all afternoon as they slid their way into happiness! After we played, we ordered their nachos! We were a family of 6 and a quarter order was plenty. They are stacked high and LOADED with chili, cheese, tomato, sour cream . Will not be returning to this outdated dirty resort. We did have decent food, but it's very pricey. Ants were terrible, crawling all over the counter tops all 4 days of our stay. Was so happy to leave this place to get a good clean shower. 4 people in our room and we had 2 bathroom towels, only to be switched out once we returned our dirty towels. We love to spend the day at the water slide swim-up bar and spend our evenings on or near the dance floor listening to live music followed by a great dj mix. The bar/restaurant sits on the water and has a beautiful evening view of the sunset down the cove. The fireworks every weekend are always a fantastic show. Sometimes paddle boarding around the cove or just swimming in the cove can be a great way to spend the day! The food is always great! We especially enjoy their burgers and pizza and of course their famous nachos. The weekend goes by too fast so we recommend you stay awhile. read more

Just had a fantastic night here! 11 people in our group, 4 kids! The kids Enjoyed the water slides, we enjoyed the live music! The band was great! Dinner was really good! Great catfish lightly breaded, excellent blue cheese dressing on the salad, buffalo chicken sandwich was good and so were burgers and Monterey chicken sandwich. A storm came in and we had a lightening show and fireworks simultaneously!Demetre "the Greek" was a great server Actually all servers were great and very attentive! This was our second visit, been coming to the lake for at least 20 years. I'll start by saying the dock needs major work, It doesn't even feel safe to walk on. Weren't impressed with their nachos, its mostly chips and no toppings. Got the crab stuffed avocado today, it was literally a sundae glass full of crab meat with a drizzle of avocado on top. Seriously. Then dinner...the kids pizzas are the ones you buy at costco and my Hooligan sandwich was so fatty all I ate was the bread. And the manager only took half of the sandwich off the bill! Watersildes are pretty good. lifeguards not so much. barely paid attention to the kids. seemed more interested in getting a tan. swim up bar is cool but not very family friendly once it gets late in the afternoon. by 5pm you cant see the bottom of the pool at the swim up bar. disgusting. smells like a frat house. and the cottages, well, dont stay in number 1. or 2. or probably 3 or 4. its midnight right now and i cant sleep yet again, because the music from the bar which is literally outside my door is, yet again, so ridiculously loud that i can hear every word of every song. and the best part is, NO ONE IS AT THE BAR. at least not that i can see from my windows, which is almost all of it. there is one little closed off part that i cant see but its very small and smells horrific that i cant imagine many people in there but who knows. even so, why does it have to be so loud in the outside part? family friendly? i think not. and yes, like others have said, its pretty far from everything else. anything you'd want to do in town is at least 30 minutes away and you have to pay a $3 toll each way. if you don't have a boat, and do have kids, i would not recommend this place. read more
