This is a smallish but well-organized used bookstore. I purchased a bunch of books and the prices were fair. I have a deep love for all bookstores, especially ones with used books, because that's where you find the gems. And they have some gems. This place is well worth a visit.

This bookstore is tucked into the corner on one of the many levels at Pikes Place Market. I had passed by it & decided to come back as it grabbed my attention & I found it welcoming & cozy. I found two books that were on my list to read. It's a nice little place to stop by with a bit of everything. The girl who rang me up was super friendly & kind. I felt comfortable in the store & the check out process was quick. Also, they use paper bags for check out! Yay for no plastic bags. :)

Getting lost in a bookstore that's below pike place market, filled to the brim with books? Yes please!! I've been to this market a bazillion times and never noticed ! Till now. Glad I did. Such a cute little spots with all things favorites from my childhood. A type writer you couldn't type, resist the urge! $1 books outside. Travel books. Mainly the young adult section around all the Harry potters book, diary of a wimpy kids and so on. Such a cute little spot!!

Tucked away in Pike Place Market, this is such a cute little shop with a ton to offer. Cheap books on the outside, and your typical genres on the inside. But! There are a couple of display cases with older books, which were fun to look at. There's also a typewriter that you can't use, but it just adds a bit of charm to the shop. They also have older children's books, which was fun to look through! I'm a huge sucker for book stores, and Lamplight definitely did not disappoint!

Pretty respectable selection with strong range. Great to look through when visiting the area. Service was helpful.

Can't believe I forgot about this place!!! I like this little indy book store inside of Pike Place Market, a lot of used books and a pretty good selection, I was sure I would find a little gem in here. I was looking for a book to read on the bus(because its nice to put away your cell phone for a while), so I asked the friendly gentleman if he could recommend something. I wasnt sure what my mood would be, do I want something historical, self-help, humorous, adventure, fiction, non-fiction, I just dont know...he gave me some recommendations to check out and we chatted briefly on some items that I may be interested in. No pressure to buy something and gave me plenty of time to check out the store. Im sure you'll be able to find something to your liking in here. I got me a book, pricing was fine, condition was fine too. I really like this little shop and plan on coming back.

Owner is a knowledgeable Italian woman who amusingly had her little kids there that day helping out. It is a little difficult to find things as the shelves in some spots are double stacked, so it's best to just ask for help finding what you want. Not as comprehensive a collection as a mass market bookstore (as they stock many more obscure titles), but I think you'll appreciate the helpfulness of the staff in finding you most everything you want. Come out and support your local used book seller, and even if you don't find exactly what you came in for, I am sure you will be surprised by all of the treasures a little patience can help uncover.

It may be hyperbole but Elliot Bay Book maybe the best bookstore in the United States. That's…read moresaying a lot but after spending a complete afternoon here, I am comfortable in my decree. EBB is have to visit if you are Seattle. Skip the bubblegum wall and the original Starbucks. If you truly want to see Seattle, visit Elliott Bay Book and you will thank me later. I wish I had more time to visit every section and shelf. I wandered aimelessly at first then found myself in Queer True Crime. I ended up having a fantastic conversation with a lovely human at the information desk. I don't remember their name but they even spoke with my daughter on my iPhone as I was looking for a particular book for my wife. I was also on the hunt for Etna, a novel but it was sold out. I ended up purchasing per a staff recommendation, 'Attempt at Exhausting a Place in Paris' by Georges Perec Reading the first couple of pages instantly transported back to Paris, a place I know extemely well, and I saw every bus, man, woman, child, server worker, and heard every klaxon and shouted obscenity. Do yourself a favor and search out Elliot Bay Book when you visit Seattle, you'll be supporting a local business and feeding your mind and soul.

I absolutely enjoyed this bookstore not because of the selections, but because of the owner- David…read more From the time that I entered the store, he had me laughing and smiling due to his affable and jovial demeanor. He also steered me into the directions of books that were absolutely hysterical. From "The Gas That We Pass", to "Everybody Poops", to perhaps my all-time favorite of "All My Friends Are Dead." I paid $27 more for the fantastic customer service that I received from the owner much more than the actual contents of the book that I purchased. Certainly one of Pike Place Market's vendor staples that I will absolutely return to on my next visit.

Not many will share their favorite poems with you from memory! When a friend and I first walked in, we remarked on a Shel Silverstein display, and the owner told us the story of the author's last published book. We quoted some of our favorite pieces, and he gave suggestions for new reads. Despite knowing I was going to walk around for the rest of the day, I bought a book, because I wanted to support this business and I trusted the recommendation. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. They have an amazing selection of used paperback fiction and the pricing is great. Inventory balances old and new, classic and under-appreciated works. A must-visit!

It may not be the largest bookstore I've visited, but the architecture makes up for it. Also I love the name Arundel, it's so stunning. Walking in here is a book lovers paradise with so many books available for purchase in a vast variety of genres. Bookstores are perfect to explore different genres, especially when you're in a reading slump. I took photos of so many books to add to my to read list. They have been at this current corner spot at 1st and S Jackson since February 2021. This bibliophile clearly has been very late to the party! I stopped in during Independent Booksellers Day (4/25/26) and it was packed full of people. Warmly acknowledged upon entering and later when departing. I briefly browsed the shelves. There's a decent selection, as well as, other merch available for purchase. What really caught my attention were the high curved ceilings. It gave a bright, airy feeling despite feeling a bit cramped with the current capacity onsite. My previous indie booksellers in Pioneer Square were Elliott Bay Book Store (moved to Capitol Hill) and the treasure trove owned by the late David Ishii. It was good to be reacquainted again with Arundel Books, a mainstay in Seattle since 1995.
