We stayed in their family suite, which gave us plenty of room to spread out and make ourselves at home. The accommodations are comfortable, albeit a bit dated, but all of the furniture and furnishings are in good shape. This place is also very, very clean - they really put their attention on ensuring you feel safe staying in the space. Since we were in the family suite, we had our own private entrance, so we never disturbed other guests, or vice versa. It was a bit warm the weekend we were there, but there is a small window unit and some fans to help circulate air. Only drawback is that Westcliffe is a ranching-heavy community, so expect to smell field manure...depending on wind direction, you may not want to keep your windows open! read more

Wonderful lodge!! We stayed one night as we were traveling through and we are so happy we did. The room was very nice and clean with so much space. The lodge used to be a bed and breakfast, the dining room and kitchen can be used but I don't believe you can use the stove only the fridge. I contacted Barb the owner to ask for the wi-fi password and she emailed me back right away. The suite was so nice but the screen in the windows needed to be replaced and the one looked like it was going to fall out the window. Overall it was great with a beautiful view of the mountains. We spent the long weekend, 3 nights, in Westcliff Colorado with lodging at Lamp Post Lodge. This is a convenient location off of Main Street with a phenomenal view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The positives of our stay far outweigh the negatives. As a seasoned traveler I have a keen eye for quality control and while our experience was good there is room for a few improvements. The positives first; this is one of the cleanest, if not the cleanest lodging experience ever! Prior to the pandemic I traveled 35 plus weeks a year and know the difference. This lodge is Spotless! The entire facility is well kept. The decor is typical of a small town bed and breakfast. Nothing fancy but very lovely. The bed was comfortable and bedding sufficient for cold weather, with an extra blanket if needed. Night stands on both sides of the bed with accessible electrical outlets, which is so great! TV provided Dish network with limited stations. Normally we don't watch much television on vacation so not a deal breaker, just an observation. Full bathroom, well maintained, good water pressure in shower, lots of hot water, and nice towels. Includes the most fragrant Rosemary-mint shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and lotion. Yummy!! My favorite thing of all, the chair in the main room. A beautiful and comfy rocking chair resides in the middle of the room, a wonderful addition. I'll include a picture. We hope to find out where to purchase a set of these chairs. A few opportunities; first of all, coffee! It's a problem. No coffee machine in room. Instead there is a tea pot water heater and the most awful tasting instant coffee ever! There is a coffee pot in the common area but the Folgers container was empty. Imagine my disappointment! I realize breakfast is no longer included at the lodge, but a decent cup of coffee without having to go to town at 6am seems a reasonable ask. Next, the common area is very lovely and welcoming, providing an option to spend time relaxing out of the individual room. The problem, there were a few large groups with small kids who took over this area each evening with little consideration for other guests. Shoes, coats, toys, water bottles, etc, were strewn everywhere. Parents paid no attention to their adorable screaming children. Don't get me wrong, we love kids, but at some point a little control by parents was needed. Kids ran up and down the stairs screaming and our door was at the top of the stairs. The doors are similar to a bedroom door in a house so no noise barrier. They left trash and dirty diaper bags on porch, and smoked on the front porch for us to breath in as we entered and departed the building. Luckily we had masks on. Nice people, we engaged with them a few times. just not respectful of others. I mention this to bring awareness that there is not an on-sight attendant so you are on your own in a communal environment. Another concern, we didn't see a mask requirement notification for the common area during this time of Covid. Concerning. With all of this said, would I go back? Maybe. I could bring my portable coffee maker, coffee, and earplugs. Recognizing the challenges and figuring out the work around is worth a really clean and comfortable place to stay. My wife and I were looking for a place to stay and found this lodge. At first, we thought the place was closed for the season; however, a sign posted on the front door listed the owners' numbers. When we called, a very gracious lady informed us that we were more than welcome to book a room. By the time she ran my card, her husband was there to help us in and get us settled. We had the entire place to ourselves and we're very happy with our room. The bed was great, the room and common areas were spotless, the remote-controlled fireplace was relaxing to sit by. Having an entire lodge (which had several rooms and suites) to ourselves was mildly spooky, but we had a perfect night's sleep and we weren't even murdered in the night. read more

A super place to stay in Westcliffe. Pre-booking is required I think but the facilities are very nice. Its lodge style so each room has its own bathroom and there is a shared guest area downstairs. Breakfast is included. I would return. read more
