5 days after a percutaneous trigger release procedure on the middle finger of my right hand. You can't even tell. And I golfed 2 days ago! Dr. Cardon did an incredible job. My sister had the same trigger finger but she had the more common surgery where a cut is made at the base of the finger, the sheath is cut and then the hand is stitched back up. It took her a couple of weeks to get back to normal. Dr. Cardon just cut the sheath using a 14 gauge needle under the skin. No sutures. No bandages. I'm so happy and free of pain! read more

I suffered a left leg quadricep tendon tear on 3.31.12 and was treated by Dr. Cardon within a week of the accident. I feel very fortunate to have had him for the surgery, but must point out that his entire office was equally excellent to work with. this injury is painful, and the recovery times are long, up to and including a year. Dr. Cardon wanted to operate on my hand after it wasn't healing for 6 months after the cast was removed. It healed by one year and it completely fine w no surgery. Broheen was more cautious abt the surgery. In general, though, its a great practice. read more

Dr. Cardon operated on my broken wrist in 2009. I had broken it in NY and was referred to a specialist in Manhattan who said he wouldn't know what he would do until he had opened up my wrist. This did not inspire confidence. My daughter in Oakland identified Dr. Cardon as the best hand surgeon in the East Bay, and two days later he operated. He knew exactly what to do. His warmth matches his skill. I felt cared for in every possible way, and the surgery was completely effective. Now, six years later, I broke my radius and phoned for an appointment--but, understandably, Dr. Cardon was completely booked. I was a patient of the soon-to-be-retired Dr. Kendrick Lee who saw me for my trigger thumb (right) and trigger long finger (left). I set a surgical appointment with him and then googled trigger finger surgery. I found that there are two types of surgeries: open trigger finger release surgery and percutaneous trigger finger release surgery. The open surgery needs to be performed in a surgery center, requires stitches, keeping your hand(s) above your heart and not exposing the wound to water for 5 days. Also, swelling and recovery are far longer. The percutaneous surgery is an office procedure, takes less than 10 minutes and you can remove the Band-Aid in a few hours and there are no restrictions. When I later found out that Dr. Lee only performs the open surgery, I began my search for another doctor on Yelp. I've been very successful in finding just the right person as Yelpers seem to be very honest with their reviews. I found Dr. Lamont Cardon who has extensive training, is down to earth and willing to answer any question, of which I had many. I had also seen a percutaneous surgery online and he reviewed it before my next day appointment for surgery, telling me that he doesn't do the surgery the same way. What I learned is, each doctor performs the same procedure using different techniques and one is not necessarily better than the other. But I said, "let's do it." The procedure probably took 5 to 7 minutes and at the end, I was so flabbergasted, I said, "let's do the other one," which he did. I had the surgeries yesterday and I have had no swelling but had a minor bruise on my left palm, which should be indiscernible in a couple of days. I have been exercising my hands regularly last night and today and while there is mild but decreasing discomfort, I believe within the next couple of days I'll be at 100%. Dr. Cardon is fantastic and I can't recommend him more highly. read more

i had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands 11 days ago.. the surgery went just as dr cardon said... i was in pain for 2 days and took pain meds after that i used ice and advil...i was able to use both hands well enough to do what i needed... when i showered i put on disposable gloves with a rubber band around my wrists....today they took out the stitches and im healing well... im glad that he suggested doing both hands at once and i recommend that...dr cardon and his staff have made this process very easy and they are very good at their work...mr broheen was very helpful... angelo b read more

I sought treatment from Dr. Cardon for a radial wrist fracture, which the emergency room doctor led me to believe just needed to be set and casted. Upon my first meeting with Dr. Cardon's PA Broheem Elias, I was shocked to learn that the best option for me would be surgery to correct the fracture. Never having undergone surgery, I was scared and had many questions. Broheem spent a considerable amount of time going over my options, and answering all of my (at times repetitive) questions with the utmost patience and compassion. I met with Dr. Cardon the day before surgery and immediately felt at ease. Enough cannot be said of his warmth and professionalism. The day of surgery he was in recovery as I woke up and explained that the procedure went smoothly, and he called me personally the next day to check on my pain and to see if I had any questions. I called on a Monday needing a quick appointment after breaking my ankle over the weekend. The office was incredibly friendly and helpful on the phone, and honest--they told me they were really busy and I should expect a wait, and they apologized profusely. Waiting is much less painful when people are up front about it! And it wasn't their fault I couldn't wait 2 weeks, for an easier day. When I got there everyone greeted me warmly, and while I did have a wait, it was less than expected. And every single one of them apologized for the wait. At one point I was in the exam room, reading, when one of the nurses came in *just to apologize* and make sure I was OK. When was the last time I got that sort of caring treatment? Um, never? When I saw the doctor he spent a serious chunk of time with me, taking several xrays, talking to me about all of my concerns and options, even giving me advice to save money on an air cast. All around great experience and I would highly recommend this office and their staff if you're looking for good ortho help. read more
