I love to shop local and seeing so many Canadian products that the store promotes is refreshing to say the least. Having a small business in this day and age is extremely hard and I applaud this store for it's longevity in the village, they have been there since as long as I can remember. Obviously the owner has an amazing talent for choosing very unique items and I have purchased many gifts but usually also walk out with some beautiful clothing or jewelry for myself as well lol ... also always enjoy the friendly staff who have on many occasions steered me in the right direction and then to top it off, gift wrapped my selection too! Win Win all the way! PS the new Houston Llew tile selection is amazing.

It surprises me that more people don't know about little 'ol "Newport Village" in Port Moody. When…read moreit was in it's first phase in the late '90's it was dubbed a "Little Whistler." Wish On A Star fits in perfectly with the life of the village. Lots of great gifts for any occasion. Pet, guys, wedding, baby, bath, body and of course furnishings adorn this store. The best part is that all of the gifts are wrapped with lovely scented potpourri, tissue and ribbons. If you buy a gift from here, it will likely be the one on the gift table that's admired while the recipient carefully opens and saves the wrapping to use again. And if that wasn't enough, there's two love birds that live in a cage, chirping away while you admire all of the lovelies.

This store is no different than others I've been to (and I've been to many). Whoever does the buying for this shop does a phenomenal job. You'd be hard-pressed not to find the perfect gift for someone - or yourself. They consistently have the coolest things here! Many are made by local and Canadian artisans (I've seen some of the jewelry pieces at the annual Make-It artisan festival each winter, and I even have a few items handmade by these jewelers, purchased at the fair). They have an extensive childrens' section (the COOLEST baby and kiddie toys and educational "games"), TONS of gorgeous, unique jewelry items (most bold and modern but some delicate), a wonderful selection of trendy, funny socks for men and women, scarves puzzles, books, household decorative accessories (eg., vases, coasters, bowls, etc.), contemporary kitchen gadgets (eg., tea infusers, pizza cutters, etc), TONS of boxed note cards and greeting cards, meaningful Indigenous items (scarves, bowls, plates, etc), lots of art prints and books and totes, etc. The list goes on and on. Yes, price points tend to be high here, as the quality of merchandise is high and many items are unique and/or artisan made. But they have a decent range of prices for those trendy mass produced products. Their prices for the socks and kitchen gadgets were on a par with prices elsewhere. This shop is really awesome. Even if you're not going to see an exhibit in the museum proper, this store is still worth checking out - especially if you need to find a cool gift for someone, or after the holidays, when their seasonal items go on sale.

I just love this store!…read more Many of the artisan or unique household accessories I've personally looked up online in the past few months were actually here on display, available for purchase! The types of items stocked here are totally down my alley, so I admit, I am biased. I love modern, clever, functional, non-fussy things, items with clean lines, nothing superfluous (I hate clutter. So things have to be practical!), smart and contemporary. It's like the buyer at this shop totally read my mind. I loved practically everything here. They have the coolest binoculars, lightweight puff blankets in a bag (light as a feather. Really!), candles, decanters, baskets, placemats and trivets and coasters, reflective tags and pins, cards, stunning jewelry, thick "butcher" aprons with the coolest hardware clips, organic baby linen bundles and gifts, contemporary tea infusers, glassware, adult card games and notebooks.... I could go on and on. Everything is cool here and beautiful to look at. The ladies who work here were all super nice and totally let us browse at our leisure. They were also very knowledgeable about all the merchandise. I've seen some of these items at local craft fairs, so I know they are locally made, by local artisans. There's a small section by the rear counter with sale items. Nice! This is an amazing shop, and the perfect place to get a hostess gift - or something for yourself!

What a cute shop!…read more This is a bit of a belated post, as we visited back in August. BUT, I wanted to delay the review because we ended up using one of their fun services, and I wanted to make sure we received the product in the end. So, hubby and I were casually walking down this street to window-shop, and noticed this shop (there's also a chance that hubby notated this shop down in his notes because they sell stationery, and we love stationery, sooo, there's that possibility). Walked in, was warmly greeted, and we perused what they had. Lots of creative juices flowing in there and great inspiration for one to take some of their stuff to create your own artistic visions. The main item that we did with them was to send a postcard back to ourselves, but sort of by "telegraph" (the postal service). We actually wrote out the postcard to our future selves, and they typed it out on a real typewriter, pasted it nicely onto the wooden postcard, and shipped it out to us internationally. We got it around two weeks later (Vancouver to California), and it was packaged in a nice padded brown envelope so it wasn't damaged along the way. It's now sitting on one of our travel/memento shelves! Would love to make another visit whenever we come back to Vancouver. Seriously, whenever there's a fun or unique service/experience, it's so nice to try it out; it's a gift for your future selves!

My favorite is the Chocolate Strawberry tea bags in a tin can. I love loose leaf teas more, but I'm pretty lazy with cleaning out loose leaf teas, so I tend to get the tea cans with the tea bags. I alao enjoy browsing their soap, bath and skincare area. I love their Lollia and Tokyo Milk lotions, especially Tokyo Milk's "Rose", "Honey Moon" and "Let them Eat Cake" handcreams. Although a bit on the pricey side, this is my to-go to store for teas. The teas have strong great flavor, not like the weak tasting tea bags you get at grocery stores. I also like that there are no pushy sellers like the commission-hungry staff at Teavana, and the atmosphere at David's Tea stores feels minimal and cold. Nikaido feels so warm and friendly whenever I visit, and the staff leave me alone to browse for as long as I like. I highly recommend this boutique for tea lovers. You won't be disappointed!
