So I have been extremely busy lately and haven't had any time to write but this is a review I just got to get off my chest! I have had tree work done at my previous residence so when Gary came to give me an estimate I thought I already knew about how much it was going to cost me a limb. But to my surprise he was very reasonably priced and his knowledge Gary is a true arborist he will educate you not just give you a high price to do what you think you're wanting to have done. And he delivers I had one very large tree in the front that had to be completely removed and several in the back as well as trimming and raising the canopies on many trees now instead of looking at over grown forest back of my house I can see through as well as the sun can see through to my lawn. When it comes time to do some more maintenance I will definitely be giving Gary a call back for anyone reading this review I suggest you give him a call and get on his schedule. I recently had two trees removed, and like every other good Yelper I did my research. I contacted 5 of the top Yelp businesses for tree removal, and ended up hiring Gary. The other companies provided similar rates, had excellent 5 star reviews, but they made the process feel rushed and were not keen on explaining. It felt like the trees were solely a business transaction; I pick them, they cut them, and I pay them. With Gary the entire experience felt organic. When Gary first came out, I explained that I wanted a tree pruned too. He advised me not to proceed with that, and explained why. The other companies were ready to trim the tree regardless of the consequences. Additionally, Gary surveyed the property, and was able to point out a few more things. For instance, he pointed out a small oak tree, which I mistook for a large shrub. I was able to cut it down without it growing any larger and damaging the foundation. None of the other companies cared enough to do that. Gary was flexible enough to come out the morning after he gave me the quote. Not only did he cut down the two trees, but he also took care of an overgrown shrub and an old tree stump. He was able to complete the job very efficiently, and left no mess. Knowledgeable, efficient, clean. If I would have hired Gary with Lakewood Trees last year, I wouldn't need someone to trim my oak tree again. I tried to save money last year by hiring someone with the lowest bid, but he didn't really know what to do other than cut branches. With Gary, he taught me why certain branches could be removed and why he would not remove others. And what a beautiful job he did with just trimming and not pruning back my tree. Gary knew what he was doing, and he knew exactly what I wanted. Today, the canopy is balanced with enough clearance so that I won't have to trim my oak tree for a while. The most important factor, Gary came to do the job himself--with a helper. They also trimmed back my 12 ft tall red tip photinias stretching 20 ft along one fence and about 15 ft. along another fence. Again--very neat and clean results. No loose or broken branches left on the ground or between the remaining branches. We did not have to clean up after them at all! So if you want the job done right the first time, hire Gary. Today a large tree limb fell in our backyard. We didn't know until we got home from work. We had no idea what to do, but lucky for us Gary was finishing up his day at a house across the street. I needed a 50 ft pine tree which was too close to the foundation of the house removed (yes already had foundation repair). In doing so, I solicited 4 different bids. From the beginning I was impressed by the professionalism of Lakewood Tree. Within two hours of my calls, they visited my property and gave me a competitive bid at a great price. Gary showed up on time for the day the job was scheduled and went straight to work. One thing that stood out for me was that Gary was passionate about trees - A true arborist. - How many tree pruning services do you know in Houston that are a member of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) - Well Gary is a member. Even though it would have not been to his benefit financially he tried talking me out of cutting down the tree and just trimming it. Gary gave us a very reasonable quote for trimming the dead wood out of one of our trees. He does not believe in over-pruning trees and that matched our philosophy. Gary walked the entire property and gave us advice on how to spot tree problems before he gave us the free quote.
