I highly recommend Lakewood Trees. The process from estimate request to job completion was quick and easy. My oak trees now look clean and well-maintained, and Gary even touched up my crêpe myrtles as a professional courtesy. I appreciate the quality of communication along with the professional advice regarding the best care for my trees. read more

Gary Penney at Lakewood Trees recently completed trimming three oak trees in front of my house in Katy, TX. I couldn't be more pleased with the whole operation, from the initial contact (quickly returned), to the initial consultation (quickly scheduled and completed with a good discussion of work scope and desired results), to the proposal (complete in scope and very competitively priced), to the quality of the trimming/pruning work (well-done, well-explained, and checked/confirmed with client), to the final cleanup (carefully and completely accomplished). What else could you want? Gary Penney, his wife Paola, and Lakewood Trees receive my highest recommendation. read more

So I have been extremely busy lately and haven't had any time to write but this is a review I just got to get off my chest! I have had tree work done at my previous residence so when Gary came to give me an estimate I thought I already knew about how much it was going to cost me a limb. But to my surprise he was very reasonably priced and his knowledge Gary is a true arborist he will educate you not just give you a high price to do what you think you're wanting to have done. And he delivers I had one very large tree in the front that had to be completely removed and several in the back as well as trimming and raising the canopies on many trees now instead of looking at over grown forest back of my house I can see through as well as the sun can see through to my lawn. When it comes time to do some more maintenance I will definitely be giving Gary a call back for anyone reading this review I suggest you give him a call and get on his schedule. Best and most affordable tree cutting experience I have had. By affordable I don't mean dirt cheap but he was more reasonable than I could ever imagine. read more

If you are looking for an arborist to work on your trees, stop, look no further. Get a quote from Gary, owner of Lakewood Trees, and you will not be disappointed. He will come out to your property, on time, and give you a competitive quote. Gary is knowledgeable, enjoys what he does, and is an overall great guy. I recently had two trees removed, and like every other good Yelper I did my research. I contacted 5 of the top Yelp businesses for tree removal, and ended up hiring Gary. The other companies provided similar rates, had excellent 5 star reviews, but they made the process feel rushed and were not keen on explaining. It felt like the trees were solely a business transaction; I pick them, they cut them, and I pay them. With Gary the entire experience felt organic. When Gary first came out, I explained that I wanted a tree pruned too. He advised me not to proceed with that, and explained why. The other companies were ready to trim the tree regardless of the consequences. Additionally, Gary surveyed the property, and was able to point out a few more things. For instance, he pointed out a small oak tree, which I mistook for a large shrub. I was able to cut it down without it growing any larger and damaging the foundation. None of the other companies cared enough to do that. Gary was flexible enough to come out the morning after he gave me the quote. Not only did he cut down the two trees, but he also took care of an overgrown shrub and an old tree stump. He was able to complete the job very efficiently, and left no mess. I would absolutely hire Gary again. It felt like I was hiring a friend, rather than just doing business with strangers. read more

New BFFs for my trees!!!! I called Lakewood Tree Services to provide a quote for some general maintenance pruning and upkeep of the beautiful mature trees I am fortunate to have in my garden. Not only did they come when scheduled, but the thoughtfulness Gary showed when discussing options was impressive. I received a quote timely that reflected my expressed needs and budget. Gary came on time and completed the work discussed brilliantly. And even though the work that needed to be done came with some risk (removing dead branches high up in a tree that was in a ravine located on a steep slope), his attention to safety was equally impressive. The work also included thinning of a high canopy to give some smaller trees a chance the thrive and allow a bit more sun to get through to some always damp areas in my yard. The end result was nothing short of artistic. I highly recommend this small family run business for your tree care needs. Gary and Paola are fantastic!!!!!! read more

Wow there are still honest people around! Gary came out one evening and saw the mess I was in and started cleaning up my Ac unit filled with weeds attacking it without even knowing I was going to let him cut my trees. He assessed the area and provided various options and recommendations. All of his recommendations were honest and not swaying me to use him ... I went with him to cut my trees and the yard looks much better now! love his work ethic and I highly recommend him. Price is reasonable Service is impeccable read more

Gary and his wife were a pleasure to work with. Reasonably priced and were able to come out on short notice the week of Thanksgiving. Quality work by nice people - highly recommended. Support small business! read more

Like many reviewers using Lakewood Trees was my first experience and highly encourage others to give them a go. Gary is very careful and mindful of what he is doing, provides input and recommendation and his pricing is extremely affordable. He is time conscious of his clients and did a good job of following through, which seems to be hard to come by these days. read more

Gary is very professional and friendly. He is also knowledgeable and careful. He cut down a tree that was way to close to my house without damage to my house or the neighbors house. He dealt with my nervous neighbor too! After the job all wood was hauled away and the area was cleaned up. His price was very reasonable and I would recommend him for any type of job. read more

After moving in to our new house, we found out we needed tree trimming and gutter cleaning done almost immediately. I reached out to Gary at Lakewood trees and he was quick to respond. He came out and offered an estimate as well as a wealth of knowledge. He did the job for us carefully and quickly. We've definitely found our tree guy! read more

Knowledgeable, efficient, clean. If I would have hired Gary with Lakewood Trees last year, I wouldn't need someone to trim my oak tree again. I tried to save money last year by hiring someone with the lowest bid, but he didn't really know what to do other than cut branches. With Gary, he taught me why certain branches could be removed and why he would not remove others. And what a beautiful job he did with just trimming and not pruning back my tree. Gary knew what he was doing, and he knew exactly what I wanted. Today, the canopy is balanced with enough clearance so that I won't have to trim my oak tree for a while. The most important factor, Gary came to do the job himself--with a helper. They also trimmed back my 12 ft tall red tip photinias stretching 20 ft along one fence and about 15 ft. along another fence. Again--very neat and clean results. No loose or broken branches left on the ground or between the remaining branches. We did not have to clean up after them at all! So if you want the job done right the first time, hire Gary. He is honest and does a beautiful job. He actually SAVED me money! Walnut Bend Subdivision read more

Sadly we lost our peach tree due to bugs and the elements, but Mr. Gary was quick and efficient and more than right for the price. He was out the next day after we called the previous afternoon. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. Appreciate their great family run locally owned business and plan to use them for all our needs in the future! You should too! read more

Gary and Paola were great to work with and their quote has extremely competitive. Communication was timely and they were able to schedule the work to be done quickly. When they came out to give the quote, Gary was by far the most knowledgeable and helpful of all the different companies that came out to quote. Gary and his helper did a great job in trimming the trees around our house and tidying up our lawn. I would definitely recommend. read more

If you are looking for knowledge of trees, hardworking, and reasonable look no further. Gary is your man. I selected Lakewood Trees and Gary off Yelp based on his strong reviews and so glad I did. Gary took down a complete tree and trimmed several others for me over a day and a half. It was a lot of work and he did a great job. He is very knowledgeable and actually made a recommendation to me that actually caused him significantly more work and debris but it was the right thing to do. Not only is his work good, he is a very patient and kind person. Hire Lakewood Trees you will not be disappointed. read more

Today a large tree limb fell in our backyard. We didn't know until we got home from work. We had no idea what to do, but lucky for us Gary was finishing up his day at a house across the street. He said he could clean it up in no time. He cut down the limb, hauled off all the pieces, swept up the branches, and used his leaf blower to get all the leaves. You can't tell that anything happened. He worked for over 2 hours and didn't finish until dark. He acted with compassion and was beyond kind. Thank you for going above and beyond in providing excellent customer service!! read more

Gary and Paola are such nice people, very attentive to their customers. Gary is concerned by the trees he's cutting and trimming. The work was greatly done and very carefully because we had 2 trees very close from the house and one was going onto the roof. The price was definitely attractive. Thank you for your work, I definitely recommend your company!! read more

Gary has done two big jobs for us. He is skilled and efficient. He and Paola are wonderful, kind people. It is wonderful to be able to do business with such capable and sweet folks. I recommend him and Lakewood Trees highly. read more

Great! Whole crew was very friendly and did an awesome job. Clean up was completed as well.

Gary and Paola really know how to provide service. Easy to talk to and communicate. Finally found a professional who really knows what he is doing- Gary knows his trees. Gary explained what needed to be done and what didn't. It wasn't a rush rush cut and run job like previous trimmings that left my trees looking like big sticks of broccoli. I was recommending them to relatives even as the job was being done. The trees look good- thats all I need to say. Will be using them again. read more

We used Gary and his team because of the reviews we found on Yelp and they were all true. Gary and his wife were terrific. We got a very reasonable quote. He came the morning we called even though he had other jobs on his schedule because he knew my father in law was concerned about the tree that had fallen in his backyard. Gary was extremely knowledge, nice and professional. We will continue to use him and will refer him to anyone who needs a tree guy. Refreshing to get such great service!! read more

My husband and I have been using Gary and Paola at Lakewood Trees for at least 5 years. They're professional, considerate, reasonably-priced, and show good character in making honest recommendations even when they could make more money by lying to us. Their consistent great service is a rare quality these days. They're timely and thorough and do a nice job with the trees, so we recommend them to anyone who needs an arborist or tree trimmer. After years of calling them to do our tree trimming and removal, we now consider them friends. read more

Gary from Lakewood Trees was great to work with. We simply needed one oak tree to be trimmed up and one hackberry tree to be removed. His quoted price for the job was very competitive, and while he was on the property, he offered to fix a couple of other things while he was at it. I would definitely call on him again the next time I need any work to be done. read more

Not only did they remove a tree that had split, while making an amazingly small amount of noise (my dogs didn't even notice them), but they went above and beyond to get a load of pine needles off my house and pick up some unrelated tree debris. All for a great price. read more

So glad I found Gary and Paola on Yelp. They were quick to respond, easy to work with and got the dead palm trees out ASAP for a fair price. I live far away and finding good vendors has been tough. Thank goodness for Lakewood Trees! read more

I've used Lakewood trees twice now. The owners Gary and Paola are so kind and prompt with their service. I'm always impressed with their efficiency and fairly quoted prices. They did a fantastic job cutting down and pruning our trees in the Memorial area. Very impressed!!! read more

I needed a 50 ft pine tree which was too close to the foundation of the house removed (yes already had foundation repair). In doing so, I solicited 4 different bids. From the beginning I was impressed by the professionalism of Lakewood Tree. Within two hours of my calls, they visited my property and gave me a competitive bid at a great price. Gary showed up on time for the day the job was scheduled and went straight to work. One thing that stood out for me was that Gary was passionate about trees - A true arborist. - How many tree pruning services do you know in Houston that are a member of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) - Well Gary is a member. Even though it would have not been to his benefit financially he tried talking me out of cutting down the tree and just trimming it. To me that showed a lot of character which is hard to find these days. They guys is an expert. The next thing I saw is him rolling up the trunk of the pine tree in his climbing spikes, spurs and pads. Three hours later the tree was chopped, stump grinded and loaded in his trailer. While he was there, my neighbors tree limbs was touching my roof. Gary trimmed the trees at no additional cost. For all your tree trimming needs call Gary! You'd be happy that you did. read more

This was my first time using Lakewood Trees, but they are the only tree trimming company I will be using in the future. They did a wonderful job trimming many trees in my yard. Very knowledgeable and took their time to do a great job. You can tell they really care about doing the work right the first time. They came out to do an estimate and go over the job on a Sunday and were able to get the work done the next day. He gave me a great quote and went over what I wanted several times to make sure we were on the same page. I will be recommending Lakewood Trees (Gary Penny) to all of my friends and neighbors. read more

You couldn't ask for two nicer people than Gary and Paola Penney. They communicated very well, were prompt, professional and cleaned up everything perfectly. Their quote was very reasonable and they understood my fondness for the tree that had to be removed. I wouldn't ever hesitate in recommending them. read more

Gary gave us a very reasonable quote for trimming the dead wood out of one of our trees. He does not believe in over-pruning trees and that matched our philosophy. Gary walked the entire property and gave us advice on how to spot tree problems before he gave us the free quote. On the day of the tree trimming, he worked a long time making sure that all dead branches were taken down. He thoroughly cleaned up and took all debris to his trailer for disposal. What most impressed me was that Gary talked us out of several tree trimming ideas that would have increased his price to do the work. We plan on using Lakewood Trees for all of our future tree work. Gary is friendly, hard working and very knowledgeable about his work. read more

We love Gary's work. He always takes the health of the tree into consideration. He is thoughtful, knowledgeable, and professional. We highly recommend his work. We have worked with other companies in the past that are only interested in making a buck without taking into consideration the tree's well-being. He is fair and honest. read more
