There is even a cute little dog park at the end of the complex. I'm just a visitor, I don't actually live in the complex, but I enjoy visiting and walking my niece's dog around. The convenience of this apartment is great but I'm getting really tired of the yearly rent increases with NO improvements to the property other than landscaping? The clubhouse equipment is out of date or broken and the hours are strange/sporadic. The big pool there is never cleaned either. I reported issues with a beam on my patio (I'm in a ground floor unit) and they had a couple contractors out to quote it then never actually fixed it or moved forward with repairs. They no longer have someone cleaning the laundry rooms either, which are always disgusting. On top of that they started locking the top lock of the rooms again but apparently don't have anyone available to reopen them on time the next morning?? It's almost 11 am and now my weekend chores and plans have to be altered because AMC doesn't care to staff or train adequately. If you can charge tenants more each year then you can afford to actually improve your complex. read more

Miss B, the gym/rec-room manager is super nice, welcoming and motivating. When I come in she is always kind, encouraging and informative. I wish I could review Bridgitt alone because she is awesome. The new club house hours make it a lot easier for us working folk to get the gym. She's very sweet and welcoming. She is worthy of 5 stars. However, this is a page for lakeside as a whole, and there is a huge issue with the timeliness of maintenance. My dishwasher was broken for over a week before anyone came to address. I had to call every day for 8 days to get my shower door fixed. Then there was the time my stovetop was overheating every time I turned the oven on, which is a HUGE fire risk, and it was almost 2 weeks before anyone came. The only time anything gets fixed in a reasonable amount of time is if you speak directly to Tommy or Linda. read more

I lived here for years! It was a decent started place for my partner and I due to affordable rent. We were able to make our place cute and our little sanctuary inside! But outside is another story. The amount of homeless who are zombies with needles behind their ears like a cigarette is wild. I never felt safe getting home late by myself bc the amount of people living right nehind the parking on sweetwater. They do not care they know that they can all live there and not get kicked out or re located. They would dig through the trash and then literally leave it all on the floor. Some drug addicts would have their vans or motor homes parked and be nodded off in the front seat. I've seen with my own eyes fights, screaming arguing in the middle of the night, people doing drugs, not to mention my rims were stolen twice. But to be fair you get what you pay for. If you don't have kids I feel like you could make this work once I had my son I had to get out of there so I could have a safe place he could grow up and play outside. So if this is a short temporary solution or what you can afford I'd do it if you plan to work towards getting out. read more

This place is terrible. They RAISE THE RENT EVERY SIX MONTHS by quite a bit and there are no upgrades of apartment. Old stained carpet, mold in bathrooms. Old peeling paint. Old appliances that break down frequently. Cars are not secure in stalls due to homeless people and no working security cameras. Office staff is rude and never has any answers. Maintenance slow on requests. Huge Spiders everywhere. They only accept cashier's checks. No money orders or regular bank checks and rent is considered late after the 3rd of the month and there are no drop boxes...you have to pay in person to office staff. Even if you have different work hours. DON"T MOVE HERE! read more

SUPPOSEDLY they have a new security company.... WHERE ARE THEY? Supposedly they're going to close all the laundry rooms at 9pm every night..... So why was a neighbor doing laundry at midnight? Where is the security when the homeless are doing this to our parking lots? Yes it's city wide! BUT when you have only One or TWO security guards, patrolling two large apartments, what does that do? I have yet to see them around. Do better, have two - four on each side patrolling opposite ends. What is the point of reaching out to the manager when we get sent to voicemail by her team every time? This place is terrible. We've lived here for 10 years and since we first moved here it's been a terrible experience. They've been robbing people and they've broken into my step dads car 4 times and have taken parts of his car. It's especially bad in sweetwater drive. They've started stealing ALL FOUR of peoples tires and I feel super unsafe in this area. There's been fights all the time and apartments have caught on fire and even the garbage bins outside have caught on fire. This place is dirty too DONT COME LIVE HERE!!! read more

Called the leasing office during the week to inquire about renting an apartment and was told that you have to come in on Tuesday from 11am to 3pm to apply to get on a Waiting List and bring a $50 money,.7 weeks of your last paychecks and ID. Called back later that day to confirm and another agent said you have first call them on Tuesday morning at 9am or 11am to see if the Waiting List is available before coming in with the $50 money order, 7 paychecks, ID etc to see if they have enough staff available to handle the Applications and which unit they are having the waiting list for. Called back the next day to confirm and a third agent said the money order has to be $50.94 and not $50.00 after I had already purchased the $50 money order after the previous two agents confirmed $50. Called back to verify the amount and one of the previous agents confirmed $50 but when I told her the other agent had just told me $50.94 she confirm the $50.94 amount was correct and this is the amount they always tell everyone. So I had to go back to the post office and pay extra charges to exchange the $50 money order for the $50.94. Did a drive by this Saturday just so I would know where to go when I came in Tuesday to apply and I noticed the Leasing Office was open with a letter on the door stating you could come in Today to apply and get on the waiting list. So when we went in to inquire about the letter on the door the two Leasing agents sitting at their empty desk with no customers explained the letter was a mistake and she was unaware the letter stated that. I don't know but it seems like a lot of contradictions and miscommunication and definitely an inconvenience to the applicants having to take off work to apply to get on the waiting list that they have to call first before they can come even come in. All of this while you have already purchased a money order that you may not be able to apply for the Waiting list. 1. Waiting List Tuesday from 11am to 3pm. 2. You must call first at 9am before coming to get on Waiting List. 3. You must call first at 11am before coming to apply for Waiting List. 4. Is the deposit for $50 or $50.94? 5. The Letter on Leasing office front door to the public on a Saturday said to come in and apply today which contradiction to their only Tuesday Waiting list call first at 9am or 11am telephone instructions. read more

This is by far thee WORST apartment complex there is!!!! The laundry room is always filthy, or there's water on the floor (hazardous) The machines don't respond correctly; ex: you press cold water.. clothes come out feelings hot/steamed/perm press People dig thru the garbage all day & night (literally) which makes it a pile of garbage for the tenants to have to walk thru to dump their own trash Stray cat and raccoon problem Maintenance has their own "Staff Room" yet the sit on our stairs watching Novellas and eating lunch. The units are small and out dated Management won't agree to replace anything until it actually breaks! also the rent has gone up 3 times in 2 yrs. (over priced af!) There are 4 pools and NO jacuzzi; also the hand railing you use walking into the pool comes out of the hole so that's dangerous for kids holding the railing (it has been reported still not fixed) The workers in the office change every so often so the staff really never knows what to do b/c they are new There is NEVER enough maintenance workers.. i currently don't (& haven't for the last 2 days) have a working smoke detector in my home because there isn't enough workers and "hopefully someone will get around to it" Thats illegal on so many levels and Linda The Assistant Property manager had the nerve to have an attitude about it as if I don't have the right to be concerned. I once went 2 months in the winter with no working bathroom heater b/c they couldn't get their shit together.. and the list goes on.. LITERALLY! If you can afford to go somewhere else DO IT!!!! A copy of my email sent to the Lakeside Leasing office, March 6th, the day they had a one-bedroom waiting list open: "Greetings, I came into your office today to fill an application before 4 a.m., but what I found was a lot of disorganization. I was already late for my job, and it seemed like only one person was actually handling the large group of people that were waiting to be helped. Another lady was just sitting at a computer seeing to the music that was playing online. There should have been applications out, for those of us that have other appointments, to fill out. Now I'm one to two hours late for my job when that time could have been spent elsewhere. Time and money was spent on getting the money order as well as those 7 pay stubs. Thank you for showing me what I am to expect. It looks like I may be looking elsewhere to take my business. I definitely won't be leaving that positive Yelp review. (I'm also curious about what others have to say about the area). If you just need a place to live and don't care about exterior looks then this place is for you. The interiors of the apartment appear to be well maintained but the paint they use allows for simple rubs to create black marks. My 600sq ft studio goes for $995 and that was for a month to month lease. Laundry facilities are pretty limited and require a special card, that you have to put money on via credit card, to use them. If you don't do your laundry during the day its tough to do in the evening. Most laundry rooms only have 3 dryers and washers and nearly ever resident uses all three at the same time. The location is convenient to 880, 238 and 580. There are at least 3-4 grocery stores within 1 mile along with plenty of fast food restaurants. Lakeside staff is very pleasant along with maintenance staff. When it rains the ants tend to find their way into the apartments which can be an inconvenience at times. read more

Lived here for 3 years and recently moved out. For some people who dont know, this apartment is a tax credit housing which you have to be income qualified and restrictions applied by State law.. By CA State law, you only need to be qualified for your first year and Managaement by any means cannot terminate your lease without good cause. Every year you will need to renew your lease and provide your income, tax info, bank account info, etc and meet with their Occupancy Specialist for annual certification.. They do this as its required by law. On my first year of renewal, i was already over income. I was informed that it wont be a problem as i only need to be qualified the first time i moved in. They are just required to review my earnings every year, again by law. My second year, i renewed and still over income but they AGAIN reassured me that its not going to be an issue as they cannot prevent tenants earn more than the limit (its like they cant tell u not to work hard and become successful, etc in other words). So my 3rd year of recertification came, after submitting my docs, i received a 60 day notice at exactly the next day, and what do you know, they said im over income and cannot renew my lease anymore.. Surprise surprise!!! :) Called the office and asked why all of a sudden im not qualified and they just told me that they cant do anything about it.. They unfortunately forgot that my husband also works in a tax credit housing which by anymeans, they cannot terminate your lease or not renew without good cause.. We wanted to fight it but just thought of the fact that we can just help the other future tenants who is really in need for an affordable apartment to rent. I just dont like the fact that they dont follow the law and pretty much can fight it.. You are probably thinking why im still giving them 3 stars huh? Well fortunately, i survived living in this neighborhood. I agree that its not a safe neighborhood. Cars being stolen regularly here..My husband's radio and speakers got stolen too.. My three stars goes to their maintenance. I hope i remembered their names. NEVER did i encounter a bad maintenance person. They are all polite and hardworking. Every issue i had with the apartment and they are quick to respond and fix the issue.. Other than that, it was, luckily an okay 3 years for me and my husband. I toured the area and I feel like this will be a good apartment to rent but after running my background they have denied me. I made a mistake years ago but it's preventing me to move here even though my credit was good and I definitely make enough they denied me and my child for something in the past but when I looked at all of the reviews this place seem "ghetto" and the tenants feel like they have criminals all around there but couldn't let a single mom and get child move in. My work van is broken into twice a year for the past 6 years and stolen once stripped of everything after being found in Oakland They having a 20 year homeless camp behind the apartments with drug users that spills over. Found needles in the parking stall next to mine, tenants leaving garbage outside their door because they are too lazy to take it to the everyday overfilled garbage bin which is always filled and dirty because people who don't live there dumps their garbage and furniture in the bin. The "security" they have I never seen them since I been here in 6 years. My neighbor been here for 9 years and only seen security once riding on a bike. Wish the were around to catch car thieves. All this can easily be fixed cameras or a gate like every other apartment building in San Leandro. This is the only apartment complex in San Leandro without gates. I went so far as to put a chain around my steering wheel and lock it to the brake pedals and the thieves cut the steering wheel and slipped the chain off. I am now talking with my neighbors about installing our own security cameras to protect ourselves since it only seems like Lakeside is only concerned about making money and spend less as possible on the tenants. read more

Just recently moved out. Lived here for about 2 1/2 years. There have been transitions since I moved in; the initial office team was awesome but they all gradually left. The office team there now is ok but not as experienced as the team before. Laundry rooms are inconsistent with pricing and functionality. I just started going to the laundromat up the street; so much cleaner! My laundry room had a weird smell, and by weird I mean poop. Maintenance team is responsive, but because of limited sources some requests take longer to fill if they don't seem it an emergency. There is supposedly security on the property but I never saw them. I appreciated the patio, dishwasher, pools, and fitness center. read more

Whatever you do DO NOT MOVE HERE. I would have expected more professionalism but boy was I wrong. For one, the day i signed my lease and moved it the two "gentlemen" that helped me didn't even take my money order. If I had have known what I know now I would have never went back in the office to be an HONEST TENANT and gave it to them. I should have let the ball drop on them like management is doing to me! I have lived here for less than 2 months and am already ready to break my lease. Management is 100% UNPROFESSIONAL and don't give a rats ass about their tenants. Maintenance continues to come in my apartment WITHOUT my permission and management lies about work orders. When you ask them to produce a copy of the work order or your lease they give you some tired ass excuse as to why they cant give it to you. The same maintenance man sits in front of my apartment when I leave every morning and watches me walk to my car. WTF is that? Seems to me they hired a bunch of people under the table, perverts googling you every time you step out your apartment. I was not told that there is ASBESTOS in the apartments. They wait for me to move in then decide to remodel my apartment (why didn't they before i moved in?). Then they told me no one could be in apartment when they remodeled due to health danger from the dust and asbestos. IF ITS SO DAMN DANGEROUS WHY NOT REMODEL WHEN APARTMENT IS VACANT and avoid all the "dangerous dust" from landing on mine and my 3 year old daughter's belongings? Last week the FBI came at 5am kicked in my neighbors door and when I left to work later that morning they were searching the car. What kind of people do they have living here? There is a man that comes every morning searching the garbage, taking NOT CANS BUT PAPERS from it. I cant even put torn papers in the garbage because i'm afraid of identity theft! I moved out in June of 2012 after living there for a year. The place sucked. The walls are SUPER thin and parking was ALWAYS an issue. If I had 1-2 guests over they would have to park across the street and have to walk 5-10 min or drive around for hours to snag someone who was leaving. Management before and after the 'changes' were both awful. They were not as professional as you would expect. I always felt like the guy in the front office was checking me out if I went in to ask a question. I had a studio apartment which rented for $900 and went up to $975 after my 6 month lease ended. Definitely NOT worth the price for super tiny space that you get. My apartment was immaculate, I didn't have any pets and I even brought in a professional cleaning crew to make it spotless after I had already cleaned. Lakeside village took my entire $500 deposit for stupid things like "a blind being bent, a small mark on the wall, a scratch on the toilet, etc" All of which were there BEFORE i moved in but didn't get marked down during the initial walk-through. I'm sure all of my deposit went toward the "changes" they are planning on doing. Oh and don't expect to go to the pool w/o a million super ghetto looking people gawking at you!
