Just moved in and have never felt more welcomed to a new home. Rafael and Destiny are the absolute sweetest/ professional people to whom I have ever worked with. *Application was easy, just got online and plan your appointment. *Touring was spot on; asked prior on budget and what we were looking for in regards to must haves. Liviu, was definitely not only informative about the renovations, he was on top of making sure that the community was clear of debris and everything was functional and completed by our move in date. *And finally the actual final signing of our unit was clear as day. Everything was done via online and was in complete communication with both of them on questions we had moving forward. Renters insurance was simple as they even recommended where to find popular used from the current residence that is very affordable. Could not have been a better experience. This apartment complex was originally excellent but is now a compete dump!!! ( pictures to follow) the first manager, Oscar, was fantastic. Oscar was quick with replies and very professional and knowledgeable about renters and tenants and how to solve problems. But the new assistant manager, Jacari, is lazy, disrespectful, rude, and ignorant of rental laws. She goes out of her wait to purposely make tenants lives difficult and she lies lies lies. homeless people can be found living where the garbage cans are and cars have been broken into and stolen out of our supposedly secured parking. there's not enough parking for tenets so they will have to park on the street which is occupied by local vagrants.. Apartments are dirty and they are old. I will post pictures of what the garbage area looks like it's disgusting. read more

I have lived in apartments for the past 20 years and I never felt like I was home until Whitman Green. From the start I was welcomed and taken care of by Yareli who gave me a tour and communicated with me during the move in process. Her great attitude and happiness was delightful! Then I met Freddy who helped me on a few different work orders but also went above and beyond with extra requests he voluntarily offered! When Oscar came on board it seemed everything got even better! His genuine care and warmth instilled confidence that the property was in good hands. The grounds are very well kept, green lush landscaping paired with lovely mature redwood trees. The gated parking and strict permits kept the property safe. I rarely heard my upstairs or side neighbors. The layouts are thoughtfully planned out with bedrooms towards the back away from the street. The laundry rooms are clean and use your atm card, no quarters or adding money to laundry cards yay! Work orders were addressed and completely within a day or two. The best part is the rent! Fair prices for a nice new gym, pool, rose garden and lush safe walkable grounds and rent controlled. My lease renewed with no increase, that is unheard of in the bay. I knew I was going to live here for a long time because I had finally found a special place. However a turn of events I found a home to buy in a neighboring town days after renewing my lease. I worked with Oscar to change to month to month and he helped me begin the move out process. He was transparent in all the move out checklist items and I received a more than fair deposit amount back. I can't say enough good things about Whitman Green and the team please don't hesitate to make this place your home. read more

I went in on Friday to go look at a room, I spoke with Athena and we love the room and how she described it and so we put our application in with them. On Sunday we get a called that we were approve and everything, but that we need it to turn in some paperwork for them that was not asked when we summited our application On Monday, we submitted the paper work and later was told that we did not qualify for the room which we were told we were approve already and be ready to move in on the time that we agree on. On Tuesday I called Athena because we were confuse of why at first we were approve then decline. She explain to us our situation and and we told her our end. We had never dealt with any other apartment complex where they tel you first that your approve then Denny.if you ask me if I would recommend this complex to any one no because they try to get you with 1000 dollars rent and when they see you are getting everything together before their 48 hour mark they come up with some bullshit so safe your TIME which is more valuable and your MONEY and look around. read more

They promised me before I signed my lease last year that they would only do construction from Feb-April (much needed makeover), but instead they have been running construction crews around the clock from April to mid-September, including using jackhammers at 7am regularly. Newly remodeled unit is quite nice. Tons of storage, nice flooring etc. Grounds well kept. Parking rarely an issue. Dog friendly. Friendly neighbors and manager. Great but not amazing location. Probably amazing for families with kids because it's close to several schools though. Gated & in a relatively quiet part of town by Hayward standards. Only issue at all here has been getting work orders submitted. Both times I've needed help I've had to submit online (ignored or missed several days) then call or email two times following (both times) to then get a result. Not sure if it's a flaw in the submission system or forgetfulness or what but I do wish it were easier and faster to get responses to standard maintenance requests. Once you get a hold of them though they are quick and friendly and accommodating with schedules so fixing this one issue would make the experience living here a solid 5. read more

This place goes through managers like a joke. lN the short time I did live here, the current assistant manager whom is a bi$ch. she's rude, disrespectful, completely unhelpful. Half the time you can't even find the assistant manager because her and her boyfriend are always in the parking lot causing a scene with another eventful argument. I had black mold on a wall and the only thing they would do is send "maintenance " and I use that term loosely because they have no actual clue what they're doing, would come back time after time to spray it with bleach. The apartment complex is gated and there was a laundromat right next to the unit we saw. The BART tracks are right next to Whitman Green and the stop is a couple minutes away driving. Research indicates that the pest we are looking for (dust mites) are not easily detected with the strips you gave us. However, they do live in the carpets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_dust_mite Pest control only looked at the strips but never entered the premise looking for any pests, still carpet is way past "end of life" and has never gotten replaced to date. By the way If you take pests so seriously then why do you keep the 50+ flea and tick ridden feral cats on the property? All I need to do is walk down the pathways and we pick up pests. Whitman Green is the most amazing apartments. I think what makes it so great are the people who work there. They always answer the phone & every time I had a service need they came to fix it that day or the next day at the latest. Mercedes & Yureli always go above & beyond to be helpful. Even the maintenance men are great. I have never had a problem there & it's a nice community for kids and pets. We recently moved into a house but we miss Whitman Green Apartments! All of the neighbors were really nice too! We got our deposit back without any hassle. I don't think we could have picked a better first apartment. Thank you guys so much !!! read more

Maintenance came by to fix the problem and apparently the yellow water is coming from the boiler. Gross, who knows how long that thing has been neglected for it to spew dirty dark yellow water WITH debris in it. Neighbors in another building were having the same problem, but hopefully this does not happen again. Trust and believe if I see yellow rust water pouring out from my shower head again because this place can't keep up with modern plumbing practices I'm video taping it. People don't pay rent here to shower in dirty rust water. read more

I lived at Whitman Green for 2 1/2 years. This is a great and affordable complex. The management is friendly and professional, and maintenance is quick and efficient. They raffle off gift baskets each month to the people that turned in their rent on time. The community is quiet and nice. I always felt safe. I have lived at Whitman Green for a year and decided to leave to be closer to work. I really enjoyed my stay in their one bedroom one bath apartment. They are dog friendly and the people in the complex are nice. I wish I could say the same about the city of Hayward. I had a few issues with the water being yellow in my shower as others have complained. But as far as management goes Morgan and Mercedes are awesome. I'm sad to go but would love to work with those ladies again! read more

5 stars was the max if option for more they would have gotten.. First lets say Im totally new to West coast, I was searching for apartment from Maryland using the good ole internet lol I tried three total properties after narrowing down my search and Whitman Green certainly made the cut from the beginning process to the end...... patience patience patience to say the least because I'm a bit much to deal with at times lol. Once arriving and seeing the property in person I was even more pleased and happy with my decision the entire staff starting with Oscar who was my first encounter over the phone and first impression was everything secondly his coworker Jacaree was just as awesome they are both very knowledgeable and thorough in regards to the job, property and the area so they both made my transition an easy one, the tenants my neighbors everyone is awesome and the only reason why I'm moving is because my contract is up and I'm heading back to the east coast I plan on taking another travel contract in 2020 and without a doubt I will be reapplying again for another short term or long term lease so housing won't be a question when looking again. The landscape the scenery everything is up to date and clean.For the short time I have been here which has been since March 2019 I haven't made one maintenance call so that is a plus in my book, Im a renter and have pretty good luck with my apartments but normally small issues may come up but WHITMAN GREEN has been a gem in my book. As first time apartment renters, the service provided and the application process thus far has been excellent! Shannon, the apartment manager has been the one assisting us and has bended backwards for us when it came to specific requests. Among many apartments, Whitman Green won us over with their amenities: a fireplace, spacious balcony, ceiling fan in the dining area and brand new appliances. The location may seem sketchy, however this is a gated apartment complex and requires a key or remote going in and out, so that's definitely reassuring. There's also 3 pools, 2 saunas, a fitness center and they're pet friendly (with an additional monthly fee and deposit). We're definitely excited for our stay here. I'll be making updates throughout our year lease. Our move-in date will be next week! I have high hopes and high expecations for this place (realistic ones of course). Wish us luck! read more
