I was on work comp due to some mystery illness and then unemployed due to the same. I actually reached out to Dr. Lardon about ADHD. He got my back story in just trying to approach the ADHD when he mentioned that he might be able to help me with my mystery illness. I did not believe him since the injury was always assumed to be physical nerve damage. Shocker, Dr. Lardon WAS able to help me, prescribed medication that ended a two-plus year intractable problem, and allowed me to have a successful career. But let…read moreme say that I understand that it's basically my fault for exaggerating to his co-workers when I told them what he said. I wouldn't have even told anything about our talks under regular circumstances, but I was in a place where I was refused discharge for years in a "voluntary" program and I was trying to get myself kicked out as I felt it was the only way to be discharged from the program, but I wasn't trying to get them mad long term and I definitely was not trying to get myself banned. Dr. Benitiez was actually the only one who gave me the OK to discharge if I wanted to. It was other staff people who forced me to stay (but they did eventually allow me to discharge). They did assure me that if I ever went back to their program, it would be voluntary. I wish that Dr. Benitez could be my psychiatrist again, but I messed up royally. He actually listens very well and is really knowledgable about medicine and everything he needs to know. He even knew side effects of my blood pressure pills. He seems to care about his patients. He helped me adjust my depression meds just right and worked with me through reducing side effects I wanted to be reduced. I would say overall, Dr. Benitez is a very good psychiatrist.
