Bertha Boatworks - The view from the show room door.

    Bertha Boatworks

A few years ago, I was riding my 1995 Jet Ski when it just shut off. I called Bertha Boatworks but…read morewas told they don't work on anything that old. I guess that's understandable and, fortunately, I was able to repair it myself. They have a boat launch that is not for public use. Ugh, this would be so convenient for me because they are so close by (but it's also understandable). Fuel is the least expensive on the lake (hooray!). During some weekends in the Summer, they host a food truck with some outdoor seating and games like corn hole. It's a nice concept and we have eaten there once but skipped it the last few years because the food truck worker/owner was playing Jason Aldean music and sporting his t-shirt (If you're not sure who he is, just Google "racist country singer" and you'll see him near the top of your search results). Facts: The "Try That in a Small Town" music video by Jason Aldean was filmed at the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee. This location has a history of racial violence, including a 1927 lynching and 1946 race riots. The video also incorporates news footage of protests and riots, which led to controversy and CMT pulling the video from rotation. If you skip the food truck too, you won't be missing anything special. The food was pricey and exceptionally basic, 'drunk people food'. If you're looking for a good value on some good food, it's totally worth it to enjoy a boat ride to the DQ in Crosslake instead.

The grounds are beautifully kept with lots of fun things to do. Our kids are teens & tweens and they enjoyed themselves on the water tramp, bikes, canoe & water playground. I can see that this would be a fantastic place for smaller kids too. The beach is protected and shallow entry, the water playground is surrounded by dock, also feels very protected and safe. It's a quiet section of lake with perfect access to the chain of lakes great for boating, skiing etc. there's a convenient boat rental place right up the lake too. We will definitely be back.

Along the lake they have many smaller cabins that have great views of the lake. This family friendly resort has ton to keep you occupied! Mini golf, basketball court, old fashion arcade, swim area and raft, and tons near by to head off too if you feel the need. They have a boat launch and docks with boat rentals and a variety of water craft that require human power to move. The owners are super friendly and have something going on all week long to help if the fishing is slow. The gift shop is great if you need T-shirt or some basic kitchen items to save the run into town. This has been our favorite spot for the past 15 years and will be for years to come

This has become my favorite week of the year. Cozy Bay is a wonderful resort that revolves around the lake. The cabin itself has full kitchen, ac, tv(that we try hard to not turn on), bedding, fireplace, multiple plugs and all the kitchen utensils. Our cabin was about 10-15 yards away from the lake. We bring our boat every year but, this year, we rented a pontoon from cozy bay. The dock we use is new and again, 10-15 yards away from my front door. There is a clean swimming area for kids(and adults). There is no pool, no bar, no room service. Yet the host will check to make sure things stay clean and make sure all is well. Suzette and Brett are wonderful host. Great people, they really are welcoming, I get the feeling they greet their own family the same way. This place is beautiful! Breath taking views, quiet lake. I always feel the kids are safe to do as they please. There is clubhouse with a small store where kids can buy ice cream, play ping pong or foosball. Cozy bay also have kayaks and canoes to use, this year Cozy Bay added a paddle board! I'm from California and this was my first Stand Up Paddlboard experience! This place is designed to give your family some of the best memories. See you next year!

So many rules. Beds uncomfortable and comforters dirty. Kitchens dirty too. Air conditioner in cabin sounds like heavy machinery. Bathroom showers don't drain. Marty made someone move their truck for being 3 inches off on grass. He walked into our cabin without knocking to plug in a CO2 detector. When we called for the wifi password (which should be in the binder in each cabin) he said "it's the same it's been for several years"... it's over priced, uncomfortable physically and socially, would not recommend to anyone. Too bad the ownership is not familiar w customer service...will try again if under new management.

There are so many…read morewonderful things about Shing Wako Resort such as the very friendly female owner, the close proximity of the cabins to the lake, the nice sandy beach area, and the crystal clear lake. I literally filled a clear water bottle up with lake water and it was complete clean water! The depth of the water is very shallow in that we could almost walk all the way out to the end of the dock in the water and still be touching, which is awesome! Shing Wako provides several adult and kid sized paddle boards, kayaks and life jackets. The cabins are in nice condition with top notch pots and pans, pretty much all utensils you need, etc. Now for the not such a charm: the male owner! He was a miserable human being! Absolutely rude and lacking all adult communication skills. One of the nights the family reunion cabin became extremely hot. We couldn't figure out how or why the air wasn't working. The next morning the male owner told our group that he "pulled the air conditioner to make it stop because someone had opened a window upstairs!" So instead of knocking on the door and letting us know there was a window open, he just pulled the plug! What the heck!?! Who does something like that!?! His verbal communication on several other instances were enough to make me not want to return. If they want Shing Wako to continue being a great place, I'm thinking it's time for him to hang up his boots and not be on the property when guests are around! The other issue is the twin beds upstairs are by far the worst, most uncomfortable bed I have ever had to sleep in! I was counting down the days until I could sleep in my own bed! Please replace them for visitors comfort!!
