I got up much earlier than normal (I work from 7pm to 3:30am) to get stuff ready and clear access to the projects. I texted at 8:45, no response. I called at 9 and he answered but said he was a little slow this morning. Said he would be here in an hour. He called back a few minutes later and asked if I had seen the weather. Now he says it's suppose to rain at noon. I reminded him, if he would have been here on time he would have been finished by then. Again I confirmed he would be here in an hour. Got a text a few minutes later saying his child had been in the hospital and he was too tired. Sent me a screen shot of texts about his child. Not something I want to see...personal. All he had to do was contact me before 8:30 and let me know he had a family emergency and wouldn't be able to make it. Instead he completely ignored me and wasted my time. We had a terrible experience with Five Star and now we are struggling to get our deposit back after…read morethey told us they were unable to complete the job as agreed upon. An estimator, Jack, was out to our house several times to understand the job and get color matches. The work required was replacing trim around some new windows, painting these rooms with the windows, replacing some door opening trim, and a small drywall patch with paint match. Our expectations were discussed several times throughout the sales process and the job was clearly defined verbally. After waiting weeks for the scheduler to reach out, a project manager, Matt, finally showed up to our house to assess the job prior to the contractor arriving that same day. After taking a tour and discussing the job, Matt informed me that Five Star does not do carpentry work and that they could not complete the job as agreed upon. This was obviously quite frustrating, but we told Five Star we would pursue another contractor that could perform all of the work as discussed. Now Five Star is refusing to refund us our deposit because the deposit money was used to purchase the paint for the job (even though they are the party unable to perform the agreed contract). I would recommend searching for another company that can properly communicate and fulfill agreements.

This was a clear attempt to gouge un-suspecting people who may be more affluent from nearby larger cities. I currently have quality estimates from reputable companies for less than half. BUYER BEWARE.
