Had breakfast and it wasn't busy at all! I ordered the ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and it was so unsatisfying with the flavor was blah! I couldn't even finish a third of my meal. So I left and probably will never come back! Very disappointing.... read more

Went here for a quick bite before going home from vacation. Older building , little outdated but not bad for the area. Waiter was fairly friendly which was a plus. The menu was not that extensive and simple . I ordered the one piece French toast with one piece of meat , ordered the sausage as bacon was listed as hormel ( glad they are honest ) . French toast was average nothing special but was good enough and the sausage tasted like it came from a tube ( possibly hormel also) was ok but wish it was "house made". The cost for that was $6 , somewhat pricey for what it was: Husband had a western skillet which he said was good .He claimed the hash browns were crispy but to my eye they were not, depends on what you like I suppose. If we were ever in the area we would be back but highly because there is not many breakfast options in the area for dinning. read more

Beware: 5 star prices for 1 star meals. There is huge profit for restaurants that serve breakfast. There is NO reason why restaurants should gauge people and not serve a reasonable portion size. We spent the weekend at Storm Lake and this breakfast was by far our most expensive meal and we are having to stop by a fast food place to full our stomachs. After sitting down at a booth and not getting any menus, my husband got up and had to get our menus. Many other tables came in after us and we were the last to get service and only because we asked about getting service. We had to ask for coffee 2 different times. When the menu states 'biscuits & gravy', a customer believes the 's' on 'biscuits' mean plural but not at the Lakeside restaurant. It actually means only 1 normal size biscuit. I ordered a half order of biscuits & gravy for $3.99 and got HALF a biscuit. A full order cost $5.99 and must only get 1 biscuit. What a joke. That is what false advertisement means. My young son ordered a pancake with blueberries and it cost $4.50 for 1 pancake and $2.79 for a tiny portion of hashbrowns. My younger sons omelet came out wrong and had to be reordered. How does a restaurant screw up a cheese omelet?! My husbands hashbrowns were not cooked all the way. They were still cold in the middle and not crispy at all. They could not be eaten. Do NOT order coffee. It tasted like hot water. Our hotel had better coffee for free. This was by far the worst meal we had while staying in Storm Lake. I did not think it was possible to screw up breakfast but the Lakeside Restaurant proved me wrong. STAY AWAY!!! read more

We took part in a family function dinner in the back banquet room. They had the tables set up in long rows. Only 2 servers for a group of about 60 people. Thought service would be slow and poor, but it was just the opposite. Very impressed by their attentiveness. I had a bowl of beef noodle soup ($4.09) and added a grilled cheese sandwich for $2.25. Soup was tasty. Grilled cheese sandwich was decent. My mom had the chef salad ($6.99) which she liked. My brother had the 12 oz. prime rib special ($16.99) with mashed potatoes and gravy. He said it was good and was cooked as specified. His dinner came with the unlimited salad bar, which was just comical. The options were just lettuce, cottage cheese, croutons, macaroni salad, and dressing! There were lots of items on the menu. I'm sure there is something here for everyone. Not a bad meal considering there aren't many places to eat in Storm Lake. read more

Started off By asking the server if their onion rings where homemade and she said yes so we ordered them. When they came out they were definitely NOT homemade. Pre-made frozen rings. If you want a salad with your meal don't get french dressing. Idk what is was but is tasted like taco sauce. The ribeye was tough. The prime rib was tough and over cooked and had no flavor (seasoning) . The kids menu macaroni and cheese was right out of the box and cheep. At lest use name brand. I would say they only thing they got right was the baked potato. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will never go back. read more

I really love lakeshore cafe. My favorite meal from there is the chicken fingers. They are nice and thick... Crunchy and juicy, too! :) Their hot chocolates are warm and have delicious whip cream in them. They just put a new place called Zimmy's Bar where the party room used to be and it has a bar with the same menu as lakeshore. This is my favorite place to eat in town. read more

I used to be a server here, they keep the place pretty clean and they try really hard to keep everything fresh, tidy and presentable. It's a great place to eat, food is typical of a family restaurant. Nothing too great, but overall you are getting what you pay for read more

A friend and I came to Lakeshore Cafe during a trip to storm lake. I ordered popcorn shrimp and my friend ordered a hamburger. During my meal I noticed that plenty of the shrimp still had the tail on (More shrimp did NOT have the tail so this was NOT intended...) I feel the prices are too high for what is given. Nearly $10 for a very average hamburger meal. The portion sizes and food quality does not match up at all. I also feel as though the staff should list some tables for the elderly or disabled. Because of the lack of signs, my friend and I sat where many of the elderly sit. We felt really bad after we realized but we had no way of knowing. We even got some nasty looks from some the people that visited which made us feel very uncomfortable. read more
