Right next door to Kings Point Resort, this spot is extremely convenient. We went for dinner on Friday and had a solid overall experience. I'd recommend arriving early--the tables fill up fast. There was already a small wait forming as we were leaving. We started with the steak bites, which were very flavorful, though a bit chewy. The sides were hit or miss: the mac and cheese was delicious, but the steamed broccoli was cold. The prime rib was cooked well and came with a huge cup of au jus. We had to remind our server for the baked potato toppings, but it wasn't a big deal. The kids ordered the hot dog and mac and cheese meals. The hot dog was fine (as expected), but the mac and cheese was a little watered down. Our server was pleasant and helpful with menu questions. Well. I'm staying at the hotel so I figured with this view this should be decent right? The food is terrible. Undercooked, smothered and drowned in whatever sauce they can find that they called a remolade for the Crab cakes. Shame on me for ordering crab cakes in a land locked state right? Ok, next morning breakfast buffet ( by the way, not included in your hotel stay). Hash browns Undercooked and drowning in something that looked like cheese but didn't taste like it. Well, third time is the charm right? Came back for dinner. Asked for clean utensils twice. Third set was finally clean, at least from the looks of it. The food was good for the most part. The broccoli was kinda Luke warm. They asked if we had a reservation and when we didn't they said it would be a half hour wait. Which would've been fine had they actually been even close to full. So to shorten our wait we say outside which wasn't too bad as the sun was going down. But when we left they were still half empty. Great view, great food but terrible cleanliness in the dining room. We ate here for supper on a Friday night and had the newest wait staff ever, but they were friendly and trying hard to please. I was very disappointed when we came back for Saturday lunch that some of the food was still on the floor from the night before. This place has good food for a good price and a great view. Stopped here for A Sunday lunch with the family. Place was dirty and crumbs over the floor. Definitely in need of a little cleaning. Daughter ordered the BLT and we were advised they were out of ham so they would have to substitute turkey on the sandwich. I don't think she understood what was on a BLT and we showed her on the menu that is doesn't come with ham. Wife and I ordered two salads. Apparently they were out of lettuce so they substituted iceberg lettuce. I asked the waitress is this is how they normally make the salads and she said yes. I then asked waitress to go get the manager. Frozen vegetables on a salad with iceberg lettuce is not worth $10-$15. She indicated that was not how the salads were supposed to made and they must be out of supplies. She refunded the two salads but jeez. What a crap experience. Maybe it was the B team on Sunday but the service and food was bad. Daughters BLT and fries were good. read more

Read the reviews; gave it a shot anyways... should of listened , because not good. Thinking it was part of hotel it would be better, from outside looks fancy. Got seated right away, server took our drink order, Pepsi seemed on the flat side, dirty booths/ floor. A lot of tables not cleaned off. Waited for 15 mins before she came back to take our order . I got the turkey blt croissant, fries & spinach artichoke dip , my boyfriend got make your own burger with fried egg & bacon , also the bbq wings . Turkey looked like it came out of a cheap package, maybe it was the pepper jack cheese but it had a weird taste. Spinach artichoke dip was not that good, my boyfriend had one wing , said the bbq was what ruined them. Said the burger was good tho. Fries were okay. While eating our waitress walked by asking how our food was, then never came back. We needed refills on drinks, to go boxes ( trying to be nice & not leave the bad wings / dip) & our check. Waitress & another started cleaning off tables, not once didn't she even look at us , we had to ask her for our check. She had gloves one while cleaning off the table. She didn't even take off her nasty wet gloves to bring us our check & boxes!!! Good thing we were not going to eat the food anyways but still so gross! Wow is all I can. Say. For suck a nice hotel, and nice looking restaurant this place is deceiving. Upon our arrival (2 adults 3 kids) we were sat at a two top, and they added chairs for the kids. Annoying! Food for 5 individuals at a two top! We were then asked about appetizers before drinks, ordered a combo basket. Someone different came back to say they don't serve that anymore. Ok. Probably should have led with that. Picked two other appetizers, had to ask for a drink menu. Ordered kids drinks and waters, 10 minutes later they arrived. Put adult drink orders in, out of the "ingredient that makes the fishbowl blue". Awesome! Bring it anyway. Ordered food, again, they were out of sides that we wanted. Got appetizers, no complaints, got drinks, hey they were blue (took 20 minutes to get them but whatever) 40 minutes later we got out food. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years, and let me say the quality of food from the distributor was that of my local hole-in-the-wall bar. My friend found a hair in her mashed potatoes, was offered more. Nope! She had them take them, then found another hair in her sandwich. The "smoked Gouda Mac-n-cheese" was terrible, no smoke or Gouda. She was offered a dessert in comp. we requested her meal comped. The staff was dumb, like seriously just not bright. $70 bill for this crap food was ridiculous, while the only thing we ate was the apps and salads. Fryer grease needed changed, everything tasted like crap due to this problem. Such a shame that such a nice resort is serving this kind of food. Will NOT recommend this place to my dog. read more

Husband and I ate here tonight. It was a Thursday night so they were not real busy - about 20 people eating while we were there. We both had the chicken breast piccata. It was awesome. Husband had Cesar salad and garlic mashed potatoes with his. I had wild rice and asparagus With mine. It was all done perfectly and had great taste. Service was good and the place was clean. I was in Storm Lake on business and stayed at Kings Pointe. While I was impressed with the lodging side of the property especially for the great price I paid, I was very disappointed with the Regatta Grill. I give it two stars not because of the food but because I had a properly made Stoly martini and my server was very pleasant and actually seemed to like her job. As to the food, where to begin. I ordered the salmon which came too soon before completing my salad and martini. It was very dry and over cooked. I it was clearly not a top of the line product. Too thin and dry, fishy smelling and tasting. Couldn't eat it. The potatoes were also dry and unimaginative. Broccoli badly overcooked. Dinner roll dry and tasteless. I suggest they send the kitchen staff out for training at a location that gets it or take advantage of the culinary staff of their supplier. I know it's off season in April in this property but qulity food created well is always in season. read more

Tonight was the second time we have left before anyone even brought us water, which I have never done at any other restaurant ever. I try to be understanding of how stressful and busy it can be to work in a restaurant. This time, when we arrived, we were warned they were short staffed, which we appreciated, so we decided to stay. When we were seated, my husband checked the time because we have been here before where we sat for 35 minutes and no one came to bring us menus or water or talk to us at all. This time, we sat for 25 minutes. This time they gave us menus, but employees literally walked by us to all of the tables around us and never brought water, took any orders, or even acknowledged us in anyway. We actually really like the atmosphere and the food as well, but after sitting quietly and coloring for 25 minutes, we just couldn't make our 3 yr old wait any longer (as she sat and said it was rude they were not talking to us and bringing our "friends" at neighboring tables food). I imagine we will end up there again in the future because of the limited options here, but this was very disappointing. read more

More like 3.5, but I'll round up. We were just stopping by King's Pointe Resort to visit the gift shop. My brother buys a shot glass for his wife wherever he travels because she collects them. She literally has hundreds of shot glasses from her travels as a flight attendant. But I digress. We had planned for lunch at Uniq Thai as it seemed like the only good option at the time. Then we saw the Regatta Grille near the gift shop, so we stopped and read the menu. Prices were decent and the interior was beautiful. The dining room overlooked Storm Lake with its expansive glass windows. I had the Sunday fried chicken lunch buffet ($9.99). Buffet included fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits, gravy, green beans, mixed green salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, and cake. I tried everything, which was all pretty good. The chicken was moist and well seasoned, but the skin was soggy from being in the covered chafing dish. Potatoes and gravy were great as were the other sides. The cake was, unfortunately, not good at all. Brother had the half sandwich and soup combo ($6.99). He chose the tuna sandwich and chicken noodle soup. Mom had the soup and salad combo ($7.49). She chose chicken noodle soup and a Caeser salad. They both really enjoyed their meals. Lunch was less than $30 for 3 people! Service was friendly and prompt. The added bonus was the scenic view of the lake. If I ever come to Storm Lake again, I'd want to stay here at King's Pointe Resort and eat at Regatta Grille! read more

The location of the restaurant is perfect but everything falls short. I have gone several times now and everytime it is the same story of waiting forever for service and food. An hour lunch break is not even long enough to get in and eat. I have had one good server otherwise the servers I have had take 1/2 hour to even get me water or they take even longer to get ketchup for the table. The food is rather sad and overpriced. I have had food come to me really cold and unappetizing. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup lunch special one time and the sandwich was small and the soup was very watered down soup that tasted like it was from a can. The one think I have actually enjoyed there was the walleye bites appetizer, I now just order that and fries whenever my work wants to take us all out to eat. There is so much potential for this location and it is a shame everything just falls flat. read more

The food isn't really worth the trouble, and though the drinks sound good, they use extremely cheap liquor in them so they taste like rubbing alcohol. I've been there on three separate occasions, each one worse than before. Where this restaurant fails most is with the wait-staff. Each time I've eaten my meal and will then have to find someone so that I can even pay. The last time I was there my group waited an hour for our food, and another hour for the bill, never seeing our waitress in between. Unfortunately I had to pay in cash, and had to go through the process of waiting for change, to find out the waitress assumed the change was her tip! Needless to say I've given them more than enough of my time and money, and I would suggest anyone to look elsewhere for food. read more

The only thing good to eat is the pepper soup and the strip steak. Since they cut back their menu to 4 choices, the selection is not crowd pleasing.
