She is so caring and responsive....and literally a text/call away at all times. She quickly makes you feel cared about and welcome. Dr. Rappaport and her assistant, Beth, have refined the drudgery of taking a kid to the pediatrician's office by cultivating a relaxed, welcoming, and warm office setting. That approach is central to their patient care. Whether it's for a yearly check-up or a sick visit--the high standards are the same. I believe Beth typically says, "when can you come in?" It's unusual in any business, let alone medicine, to find someone who looks to accommodate my schedule. Once we are there, both Beth and Dr. Rappaport take the time to listen to our concerns. They are in no hurry; I never feel rushed or flustered that I haven't had all of my questions answered. The care is exceptional. Dr. Rappaport has a common-sense approach and impeccable medical knowledge. She's never alarming, always measured, and extremely compassionate. It's clear she is not just a doctor, but also a mother, who relates easily to her patients and their parents. In addition, she has built a marvelous rapport with my boys. She has cared for them since they were toddlers--they are now very active 8 year old twins. She's as thorough with their physical exam as she is with their mental well being; dealing with topics such as bullying. She gives them (and us) clear-cut, age appropriate advise on how to deal with it. I don't typically write reviews, but I was compelled to do so in this case. This is a different style of medicine than I have ever experienced. I'm so grateful to be a part of it, and I believe it's worth letting others know that the run to the pediatrician's office doesn't have to be a frantic, impersonal, or harried experience.

My father…read morewas a pediatrician for Over 40 years and he retired when my son was 2, which was so stressful, because how was I going to find anyone that I could trust with my kids medical care the way I trusted my father? But then we found Dr. Franzia and I immediately knew we were in the best hands. Her caring demeanor coupled with her vast knowledge of pediatric medicine and kids in general (she's also a mom of 2) made her the perfect fit. Not only is Dr. Franzia an amazing clinician, but she is also a kind and loving person that puts kids first. She engages with kids during the exam, explains what she is going to do and puts their minds at ease. Her office is so kid friendly that my son (now 4) LOVES going and even asks to go to the doctor regularly. Every exam room has a theme with an animal exam table and tons of toys and books. This is the perfect practice for kids that hate the doctor or have stress or anxiety about it. She also takes the time to speak to the parents and go over any concerns at every visit. She provides her clients with so many resources and information so that they can be educated and play an active role in their children's healthcare and development. Sometimes you may have a little wait for your appointment, but being a solo practitioner, and not turning away sick kids, this office runs pretty smoothly. And honestly, my kids don't mind waiting in the exam rooms because there is so much stuff to explore! And if your kid is sick, you know she will fit you in so they get the care they need. Another thing that is unique about this practice is their integration of nutrition and how it plays into health. This is something that is honestly overlooked by so many doctors, but is the foundation of health, especially with little growing bodies. No complaints, only praises for this clinic (and as a pediatricians daughter who grew up around a pediatrics office, I'm a tough critic). I'd bet that the recent bad review was someone who was either disrespectful or verbally abusive to the staff, because it just doesn't add up. Dr. Franzia is a loving and respectful person and doctor, and likely expects the same from her patients.

Unfortunately, our recent experience left us extremely disappointed. I called ahead to let the office know we were running a few minutes late as a courtesy. When we arrived--within what I understood to be the standard 15-minute grace period--we were told they would not be seeing us. I asked if they could make an exception, given our long-standing relationship and the fact that we did call ahead, but was told very firmly, "We only see patients who arrive on time." What was most surprising was how unprofessional the interaction felt. The receptionist told us we could sit in the lobby, but there was no guarantee when or if they'd be able to fit us in. She also stated that the decision came directly from the head doctor of the practice which was especially disappointing after over a decade of care. We understand that schedules are tight and policies are necessary, but there was no flexibility, compassion, or consideration shown--not even a reasonable explanation that we called ahead of time. It's unfortunate to be treated this way after so many years, and we're now re-evaluating whether this is the kind of practice we want to continue trusting with our child's healthcare.

Like any group of people there are different personalities and some you click with more than others, but there is no one there that I would not trust my child with. The office staff can be variable as they tend to be more rotation of them. The Libertyville and Barrington office staff has been consistently nice. The Lake Forest staff well, it depends on who you get. However, the staff was never rude enough for me to consider leaving the practice.

Many things had transpired and ended in the flooding in July and us being displaced. In the middle of us having to pack our home to move due to the flooding I receive a letter saying (basically) I signed an agreement that I would pay the Dr. bills and I failed to do so. So, because of my tardiness of roughly about 3 months they would no longer keep my son as a patient and I needed to find him another pediatrician. Mind you, I am not trying to argue that not paying your bills is an okay thing to do, I am saying that it is a bit too much to kick a patient to the curb after a bill being unpaid for like 3 months. That's just my opinion.
