Vitality abounds in a community designed for both wellness and social engagement. Daily activities include exercise classes and thoughtfully-planned events including guest presentations/performances, current events, documentary discussions, travel talks, board/card games and more. The inviting smells coming from Trulee's kitchen permeate the second-floor dining center. Nutritious meals are served with a culinary flair, enhanced by the company, smiles and laughter of my new friends. As a spirited woman of 78, I continue to celebrate my 21st birthday. I recall over dinner the other evening asking my companions, "What is the secret of longevity?" One response was "attitude," another said, "happiness," the third said "thinking positively." There you have it! I'm surrounded by people who love life and continue to live life well. Genuine caring is demonstrated regularly by both administrative and medical staff. Living life well in an environment of kindness and caring is what Trulee-Evanston is all about. Charlene Blockinger

Maria, a CNA, went above and beyond to keep my room clean and made me as comfortable as if I were at home. I called her Santa Maria, she was so kind. Regardless of need, every resident is put in a diaper, as staff can take up to an hour to respond to call lights--even for basic restroom assistance. By the end of the hallway on the second floor, there was a strong odor of urine. Despite being fully mobile and independent before arriving, my uncle was often put back in bed after lunch instead of being encouraged to walk, simply due to a lack of available staff. The staff also shamed him into submission of never leaving the wheelchair even when he wanted to walk with a walker or visit another area. When we raised concerns about Nurse Sarah on the second floor, the administrator refused to take my call. If you're considering this facility for a loved one, think twice. The lack of staffing and poor care standards make it a place to avoid.

Victorine, Quincy, Annie, Ngozi and several others were consistently kind, attentive, and compassionate -- they're the ones who helped make a tough situation more bearable. We actually returned for a second stay mainly because we trusted the care provided by these CNAs. There were also a few nurses, especially those on the late-night shift, who clearly had our loved one's best interests at heart and provided excellent care. The doctor wasn't particularly warm or approachable, but when I raised concerns about medications (through the nurses), he usually responded and tried to address them. Unfortunately, therapy was the most disappointing part of the experience. I had to be very vocal to get my loved one the therapy they needed, and it felt like there was little initiative or follow-through from the therapy team. Basic equipment like gait belts seemed unfamiliar to them, and we were pushed toward using a Hoyer lift rather than working toward the mobility goals we had set. Another concern was cleanliness -- not once did I see anyone doing thorough cleaning. For a medical facility, that was troubling and made us uneasy about infection control.

Cathy was so helpful when she took my mom into the facility. I was a train wreck as a I saw my mother falling apart. Cathy was warm, caring and she reassured me that she would help me every step of the way. Christine the Director of Nursing was amazing. My mother was refusing food because she was paranoid. Christine made it her mission to get my mom to start eating. Christine sat with my mom every day when my mom's food tray was brought to her. Christine asked what my mother liked to eat and she tried to have the cooks make it for her. My mom is now eating little by little. All of the doctors and the nurses did everything that they could to help my mom. My mom is no longer hallucinating thanks to Dr. Schvartzman. All in all I would say the staff at Dobson are very caring. I want to give special thanks to Maxine, Larry and Albert for taking all my calls. Dobson Plaza is not a fancy place but it is a very warm and inviting place. I give it 5 stars for the care they provide. The four stars is because there are no private rooms or private showers for people in Memory Care.

I did pelvic floor PT after giving birth and experienced how big a difference that made, so with some new issues that's bothering me for a while I decided to give it another try. It was the best thing I did for myself this year. Emily fixed the muscles that are not in good shape, helped me get into good stretching routines and suggested how to modify my home office set up to avoid the problem in the future (we thought the cause was bad sitting posture from working from home....). All that's to say with 2 months of work I'm in a good shape in a sustainable way and that makes me so happy. Emily has such a calm and warm manner, I always found my visits relaxing and recharging. Aaron at the front desk is very friendly and easy to work with. They also only have 3 therapists that don't work at the same time, so the facility was never so busy as some other PT facilities I've been to. Maybe the only thing to note is their hours vary from day to day (very friendly to working ppl). So if nobody answers the phone, maybe try a different time. Pelvic floor issues are so easily overlooked yet they impact the body so much. Everyone deserves a good pelvic floor therapist!

I have worked with 4 PT offices through the course of my injury, and Rush PT is by far the best. I have been dealing with chronic pain, sciatica, numbness, and tingling from a herniated disc and stenosis for over a year and a half, and I am finally making significant progress. The manual tissue massages and dry needling are incredibly helpful. I was on the verge of getting surgery, but now I am confident I don't need it. As a 23 year old, I finally have hope that my back pain can heal and remain healthy--all thanks to Rush Evanston PT!
