She did a number of assessments and then adjusted me with chiropractic instruments I wasn't at all familiar with (I'd never been to a chiro before - I thought it was all cracking and twisting), but which helped significantly. I worked with Dr. Amy over the next few weeks, and saw significant improvement. She also referred me to an excellent massage therapist when she felt that she had taken me as far as she could, and thought I'd benefit from massage. Since then we've discussed vitamin supplements, functional medicine, and other health issues and solutions. She is warm, personable, flexible, and available by text. Most of all, she is focused on the human body in an integrative way that I feel many MDs are not.

I had not been to a physician for an annual check up since prior to college when it was mandatory,…read morebut figured it was about time (currently in my late 20's). I was dreading the appointment because typically doctors reprimand you for your lifestyle (i.e. If you have more than 2 drinks per month you're an alcoholic, etc.) and it's demeaning with respect to social standards. I try to keep healthy but I'm not perfect. Anyway, Dr. Pearson was the first doctor I've been to who treated me like a real person & listened intently to my concerns. She spent over 30 minutes with me (again, this was just a proactive check up) and by the time I left I felt like a VIP patient. Then within a few days after the appointment, she personally called me to deliver my test results (all positive) and patiently walked me through each section, explaining areas I did not understand. Moreover, she talks to you in layman terms, translating the medical jargon into coherent facts. I'm actually excited that I have such a wonderful regular physician! I certainly won't be dreading my regular checkups anymore. Seriously, Dr. Pearson is the best!!

I had high hopes before my appointment with Dr. Lisa Levick because she came highly recommended…read more Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite of what I expected. The visit turned into a nightmare that left me physically injured and deeply disappointed. During the appointment, Dr. Levick cut several of my toenails so aggressively that she cut beneath the nails into the surrounding skin. The result was immediate pain and bleeding on multiple toes. One of my toes was seriously injured during the visit and needed to be bandaged. The discomfort was not minor or temporary. It became intense, throbbing pain that lasted for hours after I left the office. Nearly a week later, I am still experiencing pain from the injuries. What was equally upsetting was Dr. Levick's response. She showed no concern about the pain or bleeding that resulted from the nail trimming. I found her to be uncaring, lacking in compassion, and completely indifferent to the discomfort she had caused. I was also surprised that the receipt I received after the appointment contained no information whatsoever about the services that were provided during the visit. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Levick. Instead of leaving with relief from my foot concerns, I left with bleeding, severe pain, and an injury that was still causing pain nearly a week later. I sincerely hope no one else has the experience that I did.

After "Kathleen" at Align contacted me to consider a softer review, I explained that my review was…read moresolid and that the caveat was for those considering agreeing to treatment: (1) Align checks your insurance, (2) is told what they'll cover (in minutes), (3) offers you a program limited by the minutes your insurance covers. I did decide to freshen my review: Kathleen, I won't remove or soften my review. After talking with a couple of professionals at the time, I'll revise it down. I was extremely pissed at and disappointed with AWC. Several years have NOT changed my opinion. I believed treatment would be structured around what I needed to help with lumbar and cervical pain. As I recall, chiropractic manipulation sometimes took about a minute to adjust my neck, with NOTHING done to my back. The rolling table session was perhaps five minutes long (it felt great, but insurance covered only five minutes), and electrical stimulation was another five minutes. I had enrolled because I was in pain and expected a comprehensive treatment program. After about five to seven weeks, my back felt worse, and my neck became more sensitive after the adjustments. My impression then and my opinion today is that Align offers a "treatment" program for patients who rely solely on insurance. Simply, Align checks your insurance to see what it'll cover, then provides ONLY that, seemingly regardless of the ACTUAL BENEFIT. I received a minute of chiropractic care, five minutes on a wonderful rolling bed, and about five minutes of stim treatment. I often walked out in under 20 minutes. I realized my treatment seemed like a scam. It appeared I was being moved through a series of "billable only" services rather than receiving viable, meaningful care. Those considering AWC who need to rely solely on their insurance should check THOROUGHLY, understand what you'll receive, and determine its actual clinical value. "Is the amount of treatment I'll get, based on what my insurance will pay for, actually going to be clinically beneficial?" I've considered obtaining my billing and insurance records and pursuing the matter formally with my former insurer and, if appropriate, the relevant Illinois regulatory authorities. In particular, I would want it examined whether the billed services, their duration, and the treatment actually provided were at all... clinically appropriate and accurately represented. Buyer beware.
